I've just finished uploading my first batch of high res desktops from this year's JCCA New Year Meeting. You can head over to the Desktops section right now to find several images to give your computer some vintage JDM flavor....

Let's head back to Tsukuba for Part two of the Battle Evome soukoukai, for yet more time attack goodness, of the amateur variety. There is something so addictive about chasing lap times, for both those that do it as a hobby as well as for those that just like to drop by and spectate. The whole technical aspect of the cars will satisfy even the biggest nerds out there and I am admittedly one of those. There is a lot to learn... ...by walking around and checking out what each owner/driver has done...

Today Ferrari unveiled their new Formula 1 challenger online, with the live launch ceremony at Maranello cancelled due to heavy snow. The design of the Ferrari F2012 (codenamed 663) has certainly proven controversial, with the dramatic stepped nose being the main talking point. The Caterham and Force India 2012 cars both feature contoured 'humps' to get around the new regulations, while McLaren's MP4-27 features a more gradual nose transition. - Charles Kha

For my final bit of event coverage from the JCCA New Year Meeting, I have a wide assortment of photos from both the inside of the show. Unfortunately It's impossible to show every car that was there, but hopefully this will give you an idea of just how great the New Year Meeting is.
There's a lot to post, so let's get started....

Day one of the Grand National Roadster Show was unbelievable, seeing the Watson cars and The Rodfather's ride were a big deal for me. So as day two started, Larry and I had our best insoles on to take on another photographic pass at this colossal show. It was a real task to try and see everything, the Fairplex fairgrounds are massive but we were determined! ...

During last year's World Time Attack Challenge I bumped into Andrew Brilliant, a well known aerodynamicist from Yokohama, Japan. Andrew has developed aero for not only high profile time attack cars, but also for Super GT, GRAND-AM Rolex and American Le Mans. One of his recent projects caught our attention: this impressive, all-carbon bodied Evo known as Nemo. ...

Toyota held a media event yesterday for the new 86 at Makuhari Messe and the festivities included a tandem drift demonstration by Nobuteru Taniguchi and Manabu Orido. Car@Nifty was there to capture the action.
Not bad for a pair of stock cars eh?

While visiting 101 Motorsport I came across something that is quite unusual: this Suzuki Carry. Produced in Japan as a Kei truck, they rolled out of showrooms with an 82hp, 1.3 litre motor. This particular example however, has been completely revamped. Work Equip 03s are popular wheels, but not on trucks like this. Owner Anthony opted for 15x8-inch -29 Equips for the rear, which required custom-made metal fenders. The fronts are slightly narrower at 7-inches wide with a +2 offset. The body-kit package...

By the time I'd finished walking Sunday's JCCA New Year Meeting and the surrounding parking lots it was pretty late. The sun was beginning to go down and the event was wrapping up. That of course means there was a seemingly endless stream of vintage cars heading home. Naturally, I decided to pull out the camera do some more shooting....

At this time of the year most of North America are putting chains on their tires or scraping ice off their windshields. However the folks in California were rolling their most impressive rod and customs into the Pomona Fairgrounds for the 63rd annual Grand National Roadster show. The GNRS event, held on the last weekend of January, drew over 1000 vehicles, including countless cars that have graced the covers of various custom, hot rod, and lowrider magazines. When the Speedhunters team asked me to...

I thought I'd take a quick break from my JCCA New Year Meeting coverage to post some street sightings from the roads of Japan. I've been here for a week now, and whenever possible I've tried to bring my camera to grab photos of various cars I see rolling around....

Lets kick off our V 4 & Rotary Nationals coverage with what was the biggest part of the show: the imports. There were a number of Nissan GT-Rs on display, such as this immaculate R33 V-Spec. Honda S2000s aren't too common down here. This one looked great sitting flush on a set of Work Meisters. Steel wheels have taken a little while to catch on here but a few of the cars at the show were sporting them in various colours. This Honda Civic was a member of the Untamed Motorsport Club display...

One down, eleven to go. And as is customary here at Speedhunters, we'll kick off a new month with a look at what's in store. For February we've decided to focus on Game Changers ; cars that sparked trends, rewrote the rulebook or rocked their sport. We'll be taking a look through various car cultures to uncover the icons that have reached legendary status. As a taste of what's to come on the Japanese front, Dino has a stream of features on some of the more influential demo cars...

While the JCCA New Year Meeting draws some of Japan's finest vintage cars to Odaiba every year, the event is about much more than just the automobiles. The swap meet and "auto jumble" sections of the show always draw massive crowds looking to part with their hard-earned yen in exchange for an amazing selection of vintage car parts, accessories, and collectables.
As part of my New Year Meeting coverage, I thought it would be fun to take a look through some of the items up for grabs this year....

The V 4 & Rotary Nationals 2012 is an annual New Zealand event that sits quite high in the priority list for local car enthusiasts. The event has two main parts, a large showcase in central Auckland and then drag racing on the following day at Meremere Dragway in North Waikato. This year marked the event's 15th anniversary and it was the biggest and best yet. The show covers a whole range of cars and trade stands to entertain any and all niches of the automotive fraternity. Azhar and the...

Whenever I can I like to stroll through the parking lot at events I attend. Whether it's a Hot Rod show, a race event or something else - there's always cool machines to be found outside in these parking areas. The lot at the JCCA New Year Meeting though, is on an entirely different level.
As I mentioned before, there are lots of people that head to this event every January without any intention of viewing the main show. Such is the power of the New Year Meeting parking lot.
Now then, let's begin our journey through these lots of glory....

Just the other week I had a meeting with some of the Streetgasm folk. The guys in this group come from all walks of life and it shows in the diversity of cars they own. Maurice, the owner of this gorgeous R34, is what you could call the team captain. This R34 is still a work in progress, which is why I've tagged this as a ‘ builds ' feature. When the car is finished I'll have a full feature that includes a review of its driving capabilities. Maurice and I made our way to Pro Import...
