For some of the international Speedhunters' audience, Drag racing is one of those polarizing motorsports where you either love it to death, or you just don't get it. Personally, I think life is too short to hate on any form of motorsport. It's just one of those things you have to experience as a car nut before you become worm food. NHRA Winter Nationals is the first event out of the 23 round Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. It's being held this weekend at Autoclub Speedway in Pomona...

Following the unveiling of the TS030 HYBRID, Toyota have announced the remaining drivers for their two car attack on the Le Mans 24 Hours. Joining Hiroaki Ishiura will be two former F1 drivers in Anthony Davidson and Sebastien Buemi. Davidson was without a drive since Peugeot's exit from endurance prototype racing, while Buemi was recently dropped by Toro Rosso. The driver line-up for the other TS030 - which will also compete in the World Endurance Championship - includes Alex Wurz, Kazuki Nakajima...

It's getting more and more difficult as time goes on to sift through the amount of high quality videos these days. With the DSLR revolution, it's never been easier for amatuer film makers to produce their own interpretations of the many amazing events that happen around the world. Unfortunately we can't show every submission we receive but when you get something that really makes you take notice, it would be rude not to share. Brumos Racing Team driver Leh Keen sent us this video he shot (which was subsequently edited and put together by Porsche) of his Rolex 24 at Daytona experience. From his arrival at Daytona righ through to the chequered flag, you get a real taste of what it's like to be a professional racing driver, if only for a few minutes.

Good evening everyone from the home of the Hanshin Tigers, fried octopus balls, and some of Japan's friendliest people - the city of Osaka. I've just returned to the hotel after a long day of shooting at Osaka Messe and thought I'd go ahead and post up a few photos and some initial impressions from the show....

We are back to cover the rest of the 2012 Grand National Roadster Show’s AMBR award. First up is my favourite entry for the award for America’s Most Beautiful Roadster. I am a huge fan of Roy Brizio’s work. To me, this 1932 Ford is poetic and graceful and it caught my eye from across the room. The muted palette is so sophisticated and unexpected. Usually the entrants are highly saturated in colour, or abyss deep shiny black. These Halibrand style Kidney Bean wheels really seal the...

So far we've shown you the indoor show component of New Zealand's V 4 & Rotary Nationals. And now it's time to focus on the second day, which was all about who was the quickest down the quarter mile. Meremere Dragway, located just south of Auckland, plays host to the event each year and always draws a large crowd. And although this year's weather wasn't great, the grandstands still filled with people eager to see some drag racing action. It's open to a number of different...

The Australian Touring Car Championship was an old stomping ground of Nissan's R32 Skyline GT-R; a car that local media quickly dubbed Godzilla. However it's utter domination of the ATCC series came to an end in 1993 when the governing body changed its Class A regulations. The GT-R was outlawed, paving the way for an exclusive Ford vs Holden V8 battle. 20 years on and Nissan have announced they will return to the V8 Supercars series in 2013. The Kelly Racing team will field four Nissans next...

I'm really looking forward to checking out Kansai's car scene, but before I hop on that bullet train, I thought you guys might enjoy some desktops from last weekend's GTCC event at Tsukuba. ...

Just came across this short video of Taniguchi drifting the BenSopra GT-R at Mobara Circuit. As many of you will know the car is based on what was supposed to become Nomuken's next Blitz D1 machine, a 1000 HP R35 that was converted to RWD and stripped of all electronic driver aids. Abe-san from Blitz was there to fine tune the Motec ECU before Nob took the car out for a little test. Unfortunately the engine suffered turbo problems and was pretty much running without any boost. Still, it's worth a look as it's not often you see R35s drifting through tight tracks like Mobara! Can't wait to see this car all fixed up and properly vaporizing those big rear Yokohamas!

Garage Saurus is one of those names that everyone has heard of. So you might be forgiven if you've been wondering what has happened to them. The owner, Hayashi-san, is still very much active in the Japanese tuning scene, continuing to build crazy GT-Rs and other JDM rides on a daily basis out of the Saurus workshop in Saitama. The reason that he and his cars haven't really been out at events and shows over the years is that well, he has pretty much achieved what he set out to do, and the...

Today Mad Mike Whiddett and 9 top level D1NZ drivers cruised the streets of Auckland, NZ to raise funds for a good cause. Local New Zealand drift fan, Daniel Baxter was diagnosed with cancer last year but with the help of the D1NZ crew, drivers and New Zealand Police, he was given something sure to bring some happiness, in what can only be described as a very difficult time for him and his family. Daniel rode shotgun in one of the police cars, leading the convoy while the passenger seats in the drift...

The "America's Most Beautiful Roadster" competition formed an important portion of the 2012 GNRS show. Dating back to 1950, the AMBR award is the ultimate title in the North American hot rodding scene and in the next two stories we are covering its 10 contestants and the winner. The contest is only for roadster hot rods and is only open to cars dated from 1937 and earlier. Home garage builds competed against million dollar projects for this coveted 9 foot trophy, which has been awarded to some of the most famous Hot Rods of all time over the decades....

During my time as a Speedhunter I've learnt one thing: that the people from Scandinavia are truly mental when it comes to building cars. Take this Golf project for example, which is not only mind-blowing, but also executed flawlessly. First you take a discarded Golf MKIII and start tearing it apart. When you're left with a bare shell it's time to test fit some of the parts. The owner opted to go wide-body. Then it's time to start fabricating. As you can see there is not much left...

I had a fantastic time shooting the GTCC event at Tsukuba Circuit the other day, and based on your comments it seems you guys have been enjoying the coverage from this brilliant grassroots race meet. Regardless of what sort of you cars you like, I think everyone can appreciate both the passion and the fun-loving attitude that these weekend racers have. With that said, here's the third and final part of my GTCC event coverage....

Time for some more Battle Evome action from Tsukuba now with this final look at the event I attended the other weekend. You can think of this as a kind of preview of what's to come, as I will be meeting up with all these guys once again at the end of this month for the final session of the year. You can expect Under Suzuki and Horikoshi-san to push their cars even more, fine tuning engine settings and aero details to shave off as much time as possible from their already blisteringly fast laps...

Although I've been to many hot rod events, this was my first time at the Grand National Roadster show. What impressed me the most was the variety of cars there, and how pristine they were given their age. Of course, all of them have had some sort of restoration in one form or another. It makes me wonder what it would have been like to see these cars on the showroom floor. It's hard to imagine them being brand new once upon a time. Just sitting in this lead sled makes you feel like a million...

It's shaping up to be a very interesting year for Japan's Super GT series. In addition to the GT300 class Toyota Prius and Subaru BRZ cars that have already been shown, Honda will also be jumping into the fray with a new CR-Z GT300 entry. Team Mugen is planning to debut the car by the middle of the 2012 season, and word has it the GT300 CR-Z will be running a racing type hybrid powertrain. We'll certainly be interested to see how this plays out. -Mike Garrett Spotted over on Jon Sibal's...

Over the past couple of days a stream of 2012 F1 cars have broken cover. Lotus F1 Team (formerly Renault) launched their E20 with this YouTube video featuring Jonny Smith.

Today Red Bull pulled the covers off the RB8, which designer Adrian Newey says is a continued evolution stemming back to the RB5. Will this be the car to take Vettel to a hat-trick of World Championships?

Meanwhile at Jerez in Spain, the Sauber outfit debuted the Ferrari-powered C31. “The C31 is revolutionary where we had fresh ideas, particularly at the rear of the car" said chief designer Matt Morris. "And it is an evolution where we knew we could carry over certain approaches.”

Force India are hoping their new VJM 05 will guide them to fifth place in this year's Constructors' Championship.

With last year's driver line-up of Jamie Alguersuari and Sebastien Buemi dropped, it will be Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne who will drive the Toro Rosso STR7s.

Pre-season testing gets under way tomorrow at Jerez, with the Championship kicking off in Australia in just over a month.
