Who needs the SLR?

Mercedes and AMG announced the latest in the 'Black' series yesterday, the SL65 Black. Developed by the AMG Performance Studio, this SL is powered by a 6.0 V12 bi-turbo, which delivers 670hp!

O-60 is 3.9 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 199mph. This is mated to an AMG five speed 'Speed shift' automatic which provides four different shift modes.

Staggered AMG alloy wheels are featured on this monster. 9.5x 19 inches at the front and massive 11.5x20 inches at the rear!

As you can see, this new model has an aggressive bodykit which works really well with the revised SL bodywork. The front bumper is much deeper and features larger air intakes. The front fenders are almost six inches wider and includes fender vents that......wait for it.... actually serve a purpose!

The bodykit continues around the rear where a carbon diffuser is integrated into the new rear bumper. A rear spoiler lifts at 74mph, which is ideal for the cops

Inside, the Black series is tastefully decked out, and much more successful than the SLR with Nappa leather upholstery.

The SL Black will make its public debut later this year at the Paris Motor Show. Looking forward to seeing the Stig drive this around the Top Gear test track.
