The European Civic Hatchback is a popular car on Speedhunters, so this should attract some interest. Its the new Mugen Civic Hatchback concept.

However, its currently just a styling exercise. The car was shown at the recent Moscow Motor Show. This may seem a weird choice, but Russia is apparently Europes biggest Auto market. Mugen have traditionally stayed clear of Europe, so this might be a exercise to gauge reaction.

Other than the over the top rear wing, I like the design. Its aggressive and sporty without being too extreme (ignoring the aforementioned rear wing!)

Rumours on the net suggest this kit maybe available in a limited edition for the Russian only market, but checking Honda and Mugen press sites gave no indication of this.

There is also no details of what is underneath, so it appears to be just a styling exercise.

Wouldn't this look good in the WTCC? JAS Motorsport, the Honda WTCC entrant is a partner with Mugen, so never say never.......

i think if the wing was deleted, then it would be a lot more cohesive. Take that away and its no more extreme than say the Focus RS

Not feeling that at all, looks nothing like a Type-R should, the FD2 Civic Mugen RR ES is much better looking.

someone should relocate the rear wing and put it at the top. just give it a ducktail wing instead of a bid wing blocking the rear view.

I'm still iffy about the design of this civic. I worked with someone from honda UK earlier this year that owns one. She loves it to death so I'm sure its an awesome car. I like the japan version better tho.

I agree with Andy Blackmore, take away the park bench sitting on the back of the car, and maybe the hood 'vents', and it would look much better.  i never understood the Honda/Acura predilection for large and/or extreme spoilers, they definitely distract from what would otherwise be nice lines

It already had terrible rear visibility. With that spoiler, you'll never be able to see behind you...

It's one of those cars that you really have to appreciate for the sheer ordacity of Honda to make it. I mean, it's really modern, but not at all humanistic. Andy's right, and I would even go so far as to say  that the standard body with the rocker and arches in dark plastic  looks better on the body as a whole...some nice rims, et voila!

I really really want this car to be made. Simply because the Euro Type R is too weak to consider when shopping for hot hatches.
