Sébastien Loeb staked his claim to a place in rallying’s record books recently by clinching an unprecedented fifth consecutive FIA World Rally Championship.

Third place for Loeb’s Citroën C4 WRC in Rally Japan, the penultimate round of the 2008 season, was enough to put the title out of reach of his rivals. Loeb and his co-driver, Daniel Elena, now hold a unique record, as their five titles eclipse the previous record of four that they shared with Juha Kankkunen and Tommi Makinen.

A few weeks ago, Loeb had the opportunity to drive the Red Bull Renault F1 car, normally driven by David Coulthard and Mark Webber (who broke his leg in a bike accident). Sébastien was 8th quickest, impressing Red Bull personnel.

The final round of the WRC, the Wales Rally GB takes place this weekend and Loeb will be on duty, aiming, to secure the manufacturer’s title for Citroën.

Bah... I used to like Loëb, but nowadays he just acts a little conceited, maybe a bit snobish...

I DO give him credit as a driver, but i like pilots who connect well with the crowd no matter how good or bad they are (didn't like Schumacher either even though he was the best pilot since Senna)...

So, right now my support goes out to the always smiling Mikko Hirvonen.

And my drift-fan blood pushes me towards Gigi Galli too, even if the guy doesn't get results, 'cause he puts on a DAMN GOOD SHOW!

To Naga_ten, I think even though Loeb sounds very dry and boring, i don't think he is conceited at all, he just has a dry and weird sense of humor.  i actually enjoy listening to his in-rally interviews.  If anything, I feel like Hirvonen always sound very very fake when doing interview.  I use to like Hirvonen a lot, but in recent years I'm really turned off by his overall demeanor; I feel that he is a very sore loser, from the way he reacts to things.

But it seems like most of the newcomers to WRC all doesn't have a lot personality.  I really miss the days of Gronholm, McRae, Sainz.  The only one left now that is even fun to listen to and watch is Petter Solberg, but  he is getting less coverages since Subaru sucks and he hasn't won jack.  Oh yah, Gigi is always entertaining.

Haha, about Solberg. He has been in a bit of a funk as of late. I would of hoped he would have pulled it around with the release of the 08WRC car onto the scene, but we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed.

(Go for more Rally Support.)
