A few weeks ago I went out with the Midnight Mechanics crew to shoot their two Toyotas. The afternoon consisted of a crisp drive to the east coast of QLD, also known as the Gold Coast. A well known hot spot for Australian tourists. We decided to choose more of a natural and calming location, Springbrook Mountain. Springbrook is located about 20minutes inland from the beach pushing a few hundred metres high. For these two JDM vehicles they where both right at home in the mountains, with the lovely sounds of the 4-AG's running through the hills, it was quite a scene.

First shot of the day on the way up the mountain, basic but clean.

More of a full-frame to capture more detail, the AE71 really brushes up well when its clean with the JDM front end it really sets off.

Hayashi Streets, nice fit here

Here is a section of Springbrook Mountain as we stopped on the way up just to take some photos, there are some really nice corners all throughout.

A little road which led off the main road. This was a cool little road which had a number of trees running along side it. Many cars came through whilst i was laying on the ground and Grant & Jase holding the two off camera flashes to help with the lighting situation. All in all i think they came out okay for my first time using a couple of strobes.

Jase's car looked right at home.

Grant's car turned out so vibrant amongst the tree's i was quite happy with that the fill flash did and what overall lighting it gave me, was stoked to see them on the camera and so where the two boys.

Tighter crop

The 4-AGTE in Jase's Hachi Roku, running Trust Manifold / Turbo.

The standard but worthy 4-AGE. One things for sure balance > power.

Grant fading...

Jase just back home in the area for some clean photos

Another off camera flash setup which helped me in this as the winter sun was setting quite early in the afternoon. Possibly for this one I could have chosen a better background for the car but i think the car stands out well enough for someone to look at the background.

Bit of nature coming into frame, bit of a contrasty mix vintage type image. Thought it worked okay.

Photo of "Midnight Mechanics" together on the roadside.

The boys with their toys, I think this photo pretty much sums up the day as it is a nice photo of them both with there favourite toys.

Close up of the SSR Mk III which fit and work perfectly well with the 86 chassis

Was a fun day out with the guys from Midnight Mechanics, good to see how far they have come over the past 4 years. Really hope there is something in the drifting future for them. We'll be looking our for more from them in the future!
Thanks For Looking
