We don't tend to focus very much on youtube crash videos here on Speedhunters, but I thought this one would be of interest to you, as we get ready for our Bonneville Speedhunting trip. It depicts the Racing Beat team's ill-fated 1992 attempt at the C/Blown Modified Sports record of 241 mph with their 760 horsepower turbocharged three Rotor FD RX7.

The team returned to The Salt with a repaired car in 1995 and set a new record of 242 mph, making it the world's fastest RX7. It's a record that the team still holds today. Antonio featured this car during our Mazda month earlier in the year if you want more info about it.

All Hail Racing Beat

All Hail Jim Mederer and all the others that made this a success so long ago.

The Rotary Gods truly smile upon you.

He got pretty lucky on that crash....if it had caught an edge and started barrel-rolling it could have gotten ugly. Cool car though...you have to appreciate something that is so single-minded in it's design and purpose.
