Back in January when we did Mazda month, we ran a spotlight on this IMSA-styled SA22C RX7 out of Japan. At the time the car was done in semi-gloss black, but it's since been repainted in a glossy red. The guys from the 22C Works website sent us some photos of the remade car, and we knew for sure you guys would want to see them.

Although, the car is essentially the same besides the color, the red body gives it a whole new personality.

Squint your eyes a little bit, and it looks like a Porsche...

To refresh your memory, the car is running SSR Formula Mesh wheels, 16x11 in the front and 16x13 in the rear.

Big thanks to 22C Works for keeping us updated on this beast.

Check out their website for all things good about first gen RX7's.

I don't like stock bodied S22's.  They're too slim.  They're not wide enough.  This is how they should have been made.  The flares give it real presence.  Of course, 16 by flippin' 13 doesn't hurt either.  Thanks for posting!

Just got the Vol. 12, 2009 G-Works Japanese Classic Car magazine today and this car is featured in an 8 page article.  I think it's powered by 13B N/A Rotary with 343ps@9500 rpm (I can't read Japanese).  Love the looks of this car.

Bah, don't insult the Mazda.  Just kidding, it really does look like a Porsche from the rear but it's still got just enough Japanese flair to set it apart.  That and the offset....I've never seen a Porsche running THAT extreme of an offset.  Very cool!
