The Porsche 918 Spyder concept is the most gorgeous piece of machine that Porsche has designed in quite some time. It's also a hybrid.  This render is, from what i can tell, just a promo shot of the actual car with different wheels, paint, a top, and a different spoiler. That is it.

Just flip it and photoshop it a bit. That being said, I'd love to see a Porsche 918 hardtop in action. 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, a top speed of 198, and up to 72 mpg would be more than enough to trounce everything in its class.

I wish I had found out about the 918 from Speedhunters.  I unfortunately had to find it through meandering about Volksrods, something which I don't come here for.

Just googled for Jon's 918, and it would appear they have similar wheels.. but this being a race version of the 918, don't most if not all Race Porsches sit on BBS rims? Plus, this guy has done a lot more to his version than Jon did so stop sniping left right and centre. It's a nice render to show off what the hardtop race version could potentially look like, christ give him a break. You'd think he pissed on your grandma at Christmas. @Jack: nice quick, smooth, flawless render. Would also love to see this thing entered into the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship.

Porsche is getting great press for this car and says they want to build it and it's likely to happen in 5 years.

If Stefan Ratel's new FIA GT1 rules which look down upon supercars such as the Ford GT and Maserati MC12 don't get in the way, there's no reason Porsche shouldn't continue it's motorsport tradition with this.

The Carrara GT's engine came from the early 2000's LMP1 project so it was a shame the car was never raced.
