One of the - many - great things about working for Speedhunters is we can justify hours and hours of random internet browsing and YouTube videos as 'research'. For a change, my 'research' actually turned something up in the shape of this Ford Escort MKI which is currently being rebuilt in the UK. Billy Sutton (user driftescort on the Driftworks forums) recently unveiled the progress being made on his dream build. Just want to say a big thanks to Billy for letting me use his photos...

Linhbergh and I are on the ground ready to battle the Las Vegas heat at Round 6 of the Formula Drift pro championship series. Stay tuned for non-stop drift related updates from Sin City. But for now, enjoy this photo of this very clean Nissan 350z built by one of the Formula Drift staff. You can also look out for a car spotlight on it very soon. Larry

While walking through the paddock at the latest Japanese Car Festival at Zandvoort I noticed this 350Z with a bunch of people around it. At that time it was impossible to take photos of the car because of the swarm of people. In the afternoon when a lot of the people went to grab some food I quickly managed to shoot these photos. The guys at Fullcartuning , who built this car, did a great job in making one of the nicest 350Z's on Dutch roads. The frontbumper has been replaced in favor for a Nismo...

I'm going to kick off our spotlights' from the 2011 Japfest show with this pretty good looking 350Z which was on the Fast Car Magazine stand. The car is owned by Ben Hammond and is used as his daily driver. By his own admission the car is pretty simple (so far) but I think this is what the attraction is. The exterior has been kept pretty much OEM except for a carbon fibre front lip and a debadged rear. Inside is again, pretty much standard save for a *** gearknob. However, it's the wheels...

On Sunday, I left early for a day at the beach. Not to work on my tan but for the annual Japanese Car Festival on Circuit Park Zandvoort that is situated in the dunes close to the beach. As the name of the event suggests it was all about the love for Japanese cars. When I arrived at the venue I was surprised to see so many cars and the sheer diversity was amazing. The Honda movement is as strong as ever. The builds are becoming more complex; with completely build engines, wire tucks, static drops...

I always love visiting shops and car builders. You see customer cars, cars that are being built and cars that you don't see at the car shows. While visiting JB Tuning in Nieuwegein, Holland, I was greeted by this Skyline R34 that was wrapped in matte white vinyl. The car behind it was a car I had never seen before and I first thought it was a Toyota AE86 but after a closer inspection I realized it was a Nissan S12. The 350Z is still a very expensive car in Holland so you don't see it very...

These days at car shows, there's a good number of cars that are built just for that purpose. Then there's others, like Alex Mills and his Nissan 350z. People who want a car to look good and also be able to practice the art of speedhunting as much as possible. Let's cut to the chase. This 350z no longer sports its original Nissan VQ35 but instead a Toyota powerplant, a 2JZ-GTE... ...with a Precision Turbo and 1000cc injectors which produces around 600 horses. The swap would be considered...

We featured this 350Z owned by Edafe Omosowofa more than a year ago but a lot has changed since then. The feature created quite a stir with comments saying it couldn't ride and/or drift with this stance.
Now we have some more moving shots of this car thanks to the guys from AWOL.tv. They have really stepped up their game and are creating masterpiece after masterpiece. The video shows the 350Z with a new set of wheels and the new Zero Clearance suspension system made by Stanceworks and AST Suspension.

Zero compromise. I think it's probably the only way to describe this 350Z. The original idea was to build the first Japanese car to compete in the FIA Pro Modified Championship and literally no stone has been left unturned in it's development. Those who have read the Project GTST feature will have read about the level of detail John Bradshaw went through to push the car to it's status as the world's fastest Nissan Skyline. The car is currently running around 1800BHP with plans in...

Chances are you probably haven't forgot about Edafe's crazy slammed Z33 from Texas that we featured last fall. Well, the car is alive and well, as proven by this photo taken by our buddies at Mayday Garage during a recent drift day at Mineral Wells Airport.
The Lone Star State once again showing how it's done.

We are beginning to come to the close of a month which many of you have aptly named "stancehunters," "flushhunters," or "ricehunters." This month, we've seen a divide between what Rod has called the automotive athletes (the performance-minded) and the fashionistas (the style-centric folk). This is a car that could split the camps even further. What we have here is a sports car with air ride suspension. Some may say that car this is sacrilegious, but the aesthetic...

VIP Style... Drift Style... Hella Flush (?) style... Lux Style... Time Attack Style... JDM Style... These are all different labels which have been thrown around the US import car scene in the past few years. Once a style gets solidified, a rule set gets made and standards are created for what one should and shouldn't do with a car build. However, every once and a while a car will come up which makes you scratch your head. This 2006 Nissan 350Z is certainly Hella Flush approved, but it's clean...

This will happen if your tire blows out at 240km/h. It happened when Daijiro Inada tried to beat the high speed record in the Silver State Classic held in the state of Nevada. His goal was to break the record in the unlimited category. It was powered by an VQ35DE engine that had been stroked to 3.8 liter, with the help of a T88 turbo it managed to reach 800bhp. Check this video on youtube for the crash as it happened. -Jeroen Willemsen

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Kazuhiko “Smoky” Nagata for many years now. Nagata-san is of course the founder of the legendary tuning shop, Top Secret. Going beyond that, he is also a bit of a worldwide motorsports celebrity, in fact he is a rather unique example of a motorsports star. Not many people can claim celebrity driver status while having no professional motorsports affiliation as a driver. To understand the mysterious Nagata-san it may be a bit easier after some background....

After reading Mike's post about the Team Orange cars and their converted EVO's and Impreza's, I started thinking about a well known Z33 which was converted the other way around, from rwd to awd: this JUN-built Hyper Lemon 350Z R. The rumor is, it was built for someone who lives in Hong Kong and wanted to use it as a Time Attack car, but nothing has been seen of this Z33 since it was finished and delivered. So I'm not sure what happened to it in the end, but I hope to see it again...

Just spotted this 350Z with what looks like to be DPE ST-10 wheels. I have been told that white is the color of 2009, so this 350Z is already ahead of its time. I always love the contrast on a white car together with black wheels. -Jeroen Willemsen

Things are getting down to the wire as Formula D teams are finishing up their cars and getting in that last bit of testing before the season kicks off in Long Beach less than three weeks from now. As you might remember from the announcement at SEMA last year, Falken Tire is going to be fielding a very strong team for 2009. One of the new cars that will be wearing Falken livery this season is this 350Z Roadster, which will be driven by Tyler McQuarrie....
