Speedhunters reader Gabe Elias just sent me this photo of his NSX project with a freshly installed set of Super Advan Version II wheels. The three-spoke design might not be to everyone's liking, but this has got to be one of the best uses of this wheel I've seen yet.
It also makes you want to start scouring the classifieds for an early model NSX.

My mindset has been in a strange state this week, going back and forth between coverage of Toyotafest and the Eibach Honda Meet. To have both of these events only one day apart is overload for any fan of Japanese automobiles. If only there could have somehow been a Nissan meet thrown in for good measure...
Anyway, here's my final set of photographs from Eibach 2011....

Here's hoping you guys aren't too burnt out on Honda material, because here comes the next part of my coverage from Sunday's all-Honda meet at Eibach Springs in Corona.
On with the Honda loving then....

Less than 24 hours after shooting Toyotafest in Long Beach, I found myself heading west on the rain-soaked 91 Freeway heading towards Corona to check out the 2011 Honda Meet a the Eibach Springs headquarters. After experiencing last year's event, I came prepared for all of the huge crowds and traffic jams that come with Eibach....

There are only a couple days left of Honda month before we move along to our new format, but there's plenty of cool Honda material left to post.
Here's the second part of my visit earlier this week to American Honda's private car collection in LA....

The primary image associated with Honda might be high revving compact cars and F1-derived race technology, but there are also some proper Honda VIP sedans out there.
For example we have this KA9 Honda Legend out of Japan, also known as the Acura RL stateside. Compared to today's edgy Acura designs, the KA9 has a classic style that lends itself way to the VIP treatment just like its rivals from Nissan and Toyota.

Here in the states a watered down version of the Honda Accord Euro R was sold as the Acura TSX. As you can see from this example from Japan, when done right the Euro R can be quite a mean looking (and functional) machine.
Hmm, I bet prices on these have come down quite a bit on the used car market. Just another entry to put on the solid daily driver list...

Within minutes of the conculsion of qualifying at Le Mans, Peugeot already had their mock newpaper headline placed on their #3 Peugeot of Sebastien Bourdais, Pedro Lamy and Simon Pagenaud. Cheeky! Their time remained from yesterday, but the Peugeots were backing off in the final sector. Peugeot locked out the top four slots, with Audi slightly closer than last night. Mike Rockenfeller edging out Allan McNish. It remains to be seen if Audi can challenge the lions during in the race. LMP2 Pole went...

The cars finally took to the track at La Sarthe on Wednesday afternoon for their first practice session and it was immediately apparent Audi was up against it. Peugeot were quick, straight out of the box, where as Audi's appeared to struggle. A concerned Allan McNish explaining his concerns to Audi engineer, Howden 'H' Haynes. The first qualifying session got underway at 10pm. Despite the weather forecast, the track stayed dry. Peugeot continued there dominance with the French manufacturer...

I just returned back to LA after spending an awesome weekend cruising in muscle cars and watching drag racing in the Central Valley. I'm pumped to post about that, as well as a couple of stories for "Drives Week" but first I need to wrap up my stories from last weekend.
Here's one last batch of photographs from the insanity that was the 2010 Eibach Honda Meet. ...

So it looks like our coverage of the annual all-Honda Eibach meet has generated quite a bit of discussion from you guys, with the age-old "form vs. function" argument resurfacing once again.
Personally, I think it's great to see the different viewpoints, and the Eibach meet offered plenty for supporters of both....

For years now, people have been saying that Hondas are "old news". Saying that people have moved away from their Civics and Integras to drift cars, AWD turbo things, or grown-up VIP sedans. It may be true to an extent, but you wouldn't think so by looking at the hundreds upon hundreds of Hondas and Acuras that invaded the Eibach Springs HQ in Corona on Sunday....

When I first drew up our year plan for Speedhunters 2010, April was originally slated to be themed Honda month . We've decided to ice this theme for a while though, as we're just too busy getting geared up for the upcoming race season. At any rate, we seem to be having a mini-Honda celebration on Speedhunters with the release of last week's HSV-010 desktop photo sets and Len's Super GT NSX Retrospective article. So I'll follow this up with a set of high rez desktops of much loved...

While walking around the Hellaflush meeting earlier this month, I saw all sorts of car that were spotlight, or even feature-worthy. Keeping in mind what we've already featured this month, I tried to find cars that were a bit different than those. We've seen a lots of Nissans and Infinitis, various European cars, and drift cars this month, but not too many Hondas. Civics and Integras have been done in every style under the sun, and there are no shortage of "flush" Hondas out there these days. There are a lots of cheesy and poorly executed examples to be found, but rare is a properly done car like this DC2 Integra....

Just a couple weeks ago I posted a photo of a previous gen Accord Wagon from Japan, pondering how cool it would be if Honda decided to bring the new Accord Tourer to North America as the TSX Wagon. Perhaps someone from Honda was reading? Acura has just announced the TSX Sport Wagon will be joining the lineup for 2011. The car most likely will look very similar to the Euro/Japanese market Accord Tourer pictured up above.
Hmmm...I wonder if it will be time to replace my daily driver come 2011?

I'm about to head out the door on the way to Irwindale Speedway to check out practice and the NFS Shift competition, but before I leave I wanted to post this dumped Accord Wagon photo from Minkara.
How cool would it be if Acura brought over the new Accord Wagon/Tourer as the TSX Wagon for the US market?
Not likely, but it's fun to think about.
OK, off to the House of Drift!

After four hours of intense racing around Laguna Seca, the 2009 American LeMans season is in the books. I'm once again exhausted from a day of shooting and lugging my gear up and down the mountainous terrain, but I wanted to quickly post some of the day's results before I pass out here......

Gil de Ferran, 2000, 2001 Champ Car champion and 2003 Indy 500 winner, enters his final race as a driver this weekend at Laguna Seca, the finale to the 2009 ALMS championship. There are a number of celebrations to mark his retirement, the most prominent being the de Ferran Motorsport Acura LMP1 car carrying a cool Chaparral inspired livery. Jim Hall and his Chaparrals Race cars were leaders in race car design and aerodynamics. The cars always looked stunning with their form and white bodywork. Gil...

Workload has resulted in a lack of ALMS updates from me for most of the season, but it is now time to bring you up to date, in preparation for 'Petit Le Mans' later this month. At the front, the series suffered from the withdrawal from Audi and their R15 TDi after Sebring 12hours. The economic climate also resulted in Audi pulling out of the European Le Mans Series. A decision that Audi probably has since regretted, as lack of running and development cost them victory in the 2009 Le Mans...

A great qualifying session saw Scott Dixon in the de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02a grab pole from Audi and Peugeot earlier today. It was an impressive achievement for Acura and Wirth Research for such a radical new car to beat Audi and Peugeot, almost out of the box. Chief Designer, Nick Wirth was in tears and speechless. Personally, I’m really pleased as the Chief Engineer at de Ferran was one of the guys who gave me my first break, many years ago . Peugeot appeared to be content with one...
