As we start to wind-down the summer of 2009, and gear ourselves up for the autumn and holiday season to come, let's take a look back at one of the greatest ricer events this year: the Just Drift/Ziptied All Star Bash '09! This event is more than just a mere drift event. All Star Bash is a weekend long party celebrating tire smoke, horse power, grassroots drifting style and flare, and a just enjoying sport for what it is --pure fun. It is also a weekend of celebration to the grassroots US...

Yo. My name is Will Roegge and I'm a 25 year old filmmaker from Los Angeles, California. Rod and I have been trying to collaborate on a Speedhunter's project for the past year and July's All Star Bash looked to be a great opportunity to do an exclusive Speedhunter's video. Ziptied/Just Drift's All Star Bash has become quite a phenomenon within the US drift community. Drivers and cars came from places near and far to take part in the event. Including this dark red Nissan 240sx...

July has been a busy month for me -I've put about 2500 miles on my car in the past few weeks just driving to events and photoshoots. Tomorrow morning I'm going to be heading back down to Southern California for the rally portion of the X-Games - something that I'm quite looking forward to covering. Before that though, I wanted to wrap up my All Star Bash coverage with a final batch of photos from that magical event in the desert last weekend....

What's better than taking a road trip half way across the country with a group of close friends? How about a road trip that involves lots of drifting and cruising through the streets of San Francisco and SoCal in stylish drift cars? That's exactly what Chicago's Risky Devil crew did over the past week.
For a couple years now, these guys have been putting Chi-Town on the map with their awesome cars and crazy driving. Their website has become one of most popular places in the always-growing "JDM car blog world", and we've spotlighted their cars many times here on Speedhunters. Needless to say, I was pretty excited to finally meet these internet heroes at the Ziptied All Star Bash last weekend....

Now for some more photos from the "biggest little drift event in the world" AKA the Ziptied All Star Bash.
We've covered this event several times now on Speedhunters, and by now it should be obvious that this is where one can experience the best grassroots drifting in the United States. ...

There's an air of difference when you compare the Matt Powers of Formula D and regular ol' Matt Powers. The seriousness and pressure of competing with the big leagues in Formula D is completely gone and replaced with a person that just wants to get out on the track with a smile, and leave with a smile. As an automotive website, we mostly focus on the actual cars, but rarely peek into the heart and soul of said cars. Here's a shot from within the cockpit of Matt Powers' fantastically...

Welcome to the Ziptied All Star Bash. Outside of Japan and its drift festivals. there's never been an event that draws so many people from so far to spend 48 hours hanging out, fooling around, and burning tires to shreds. All Star Bash is like a movie that doesn't have any sort of plot, but keeps you entertained with scene after scene of random awesomeness and plenty of humor.
It's been nearly two years since I've been to an ASB event, so I was jumping at the bit to get down to Willow Springs for the Summer '09 edition of this storied gathering. ...

If you look at the history of All Wheel Drive in both Rallying and Circuit racing, and you compare this to the timeline of the automobile in the 20th century, it really hasn't been that long that AWD systems have been a success in motorsports. It was only in the early 1980s that AWD came to the forefront of rallying with the introduction of the Audi Quattro to the WRC. And in circuit racing AWD was not a success until the late eighties with the Audi's move to road racing in the US and Nissan's...
