After the 11 hour flight and pre-track preparations with Billy from GAIJIN Smash, I showed up to Ebisu to find my car sourced from Andy of Powervehicles , decked out in full American fashion. It actually had 52 stars as well! I had sell off parts from my personal competition drift car in the US to afford my Matsuri missile! I took the first day to install some bits I brought from my personal car like the steering wheel and 5-point harness not to mention doing a full check on the car I would be using...

It's time to take a final look at more drifting action from the Autumn Drift Matsuri now, as we wrap up the coverage of what has been one of the most exciting drift events of 2010. You would assume that after the late night drift action things would have been slow to pick up on Sunday morning, but with as many as 300 cars in attendance there was always something going on out on the tracks. I was impressed to see so many cars had survived the night and were still in one piece. I also spotted a...

For the full Drift Matsuri experience one truly has to witness what goes on at night at Ebisu, if not from the behind the wheel, at least as a spectator. After grabbing some food at the BBQ that Andy and Emily of Powervehicles organized, Casey and I went out around the dark extremities of tracks like Minami and Kita to bring you this post, dedicated exclusively to the night action. This shot gives you a good idea of the track layout at Minami, the famous D1 track that every drifter in the world dreams...

Let's proceed with more drifting from Ebisu as we immerse ourselves further into pure, unadulterated Matsuri goodness! Opening this second part is a shot of Aussie drifter Christian Pickering nailing the apex on the first corner of the North course with his Riverside S13, one of my favorite places in the whole of Ebisu to shoot from. I sometimes like to escape down to the Higashi course, usually the most relaxed and quietest circuit. The demanding layout that snakes up and down the mountain also...

The Japanese are always so proud of the marked seasonal changes that hit their beautiful country. From spring to summer, and from summer to autumn the variation of colors that are exhibited in rural areas, as well as the cities, are nothing short of breathtaking. This is also what makes our usual seasonal pilgrimage to Ebisu Circuit so pleasant, although it's not exactly the foliage we are there to cover. Autumn, up in "Drift Heaven" can only mean one thing, it's Matsuri time! Following...

I'm dedicating this second post on the Autumn Drift Matsuri to the first ever "G1-GP," an all-foreigner drift competition that was held at the Nishi (West) course on Sunday afternoon. With so many Aussies over for the event, Andy at Powervehicles.com came up with the idea of holding a little competition, especially seeing the high level of skills these guys had. As soon as he mentioned the idea to Suenaga and Kumakubo they jumped on it and told him not to worry as they would organize...

There is simply nothing like it, the Drift Matsuri is a truly unique event and this third and last one for 2009 has probably been my favorite. With the surrounding mountains around Ebisu Circuit exhibiting the most intense autumn colors drifters were as ever spoilt for choice with 8 tracks at their disposal for the whole weekend. I've selected my favorite shots for this first post, pictures that best summarize what these last two days were like up in the drifter's paradise. The rain didn't...
