This Speedhunters film is going to be my final contribution to the Driver's Month special features. It's a quick portrait of the multiple World Touring Car Champion, Andy Priaulx. Shot last month at the Imola round of the WTTC, we've done our best to capture the essence of Touring Car racing. The intensity, the aggressive driving and the on track dramatics. Thanks Andy Priaulx for taking the time to talk to us. Enjoy the film! ...

In part 2 of our McLaren F1 GTR Retrospective, we are going to look at the 1996 season. McLaren Cars made a number of improvements for the 1996 season with revised aerodynamics, cooling and fuel system. Many components were re-engineered. As I explained at the beginning of the month , a new test car, Chassis ‘10R’ was completed and used to announce the 1996 season, although ironically the car still carried some 1995 aerodynamics. We needed a livery which jumped out of the page and also...

Boy I've been stressed out for the past 24 hours. The site went down on the last day of BMW month, meaning we couldn't get the final set of stories published. We were saving some of the best pieces for last it's been a bit painful to say the least. So I hope you don't mind that we quickly published the last set of stories from BMW month today. So I already previewed this story last week -our visit to see the BMW Group Classic Collection in Munich. Now this isn't a museum as such...

When the time came to choose the car I would be driving around Germany during our Speedhunting trip to Munich I immediately went for the more powerful M5. I knew I had chosen the best car, 500 HP and a pair of paddles to machine-gun through the 7-gears of the DSG gearbox. But Rod had a smug look on his face after our first stint in our cars across a bit of Autobahn and country roads. It wasn't until the following day that I had a chance to understand why. You see, dropping a 306 HP twin-turbo...

As our BMW Feature Month comes to an end, I have been asked to give my personal reflections on the golden years of the McLaren F1 GTR. Grab yourself a coffee….it’s a long one! With the aid of Rod's images from his recent visit to Rahal Letterman and John Brooks extensive collection, I'll attempt to cover the two seasons in which the short-tail GTR changed the face of GT racing. It may not have been part of the original McLaren F1 project, but the story of the McLaren F1 GTR was...

Buried in the heart of the Dirty South, my battle-scarred E46 creeps through a confederate graveyard sharing rank with the soldiers that lie beneath it. Battle takes a toll on everything in it's path, and like each headstone in this cemetary... every scratch, scrape and dent has a story to tell. This war-hardened machine has been to hell and back, and still lives to tell her tales. My name is Andy Sapp. This is my drift car. Although commonly mistaken for an E46 M3, the car is actually a 2001...

Since it is BMW month on Speedhunters, I figure I’d show you guys my newly painted E46 M3. White has always been my favorite color on cars so pretty much all my cars are white. The original color of the car was carbon black, but I decided to change it to a metallic white pearl. The pros at Garage Inc. in Burlingame, Ca performed the full color change. ...

Hi Speedhunters! My name is Oleg Lozovoy, I’m 22 years old and I live in Moscow, Russia. I’ve been working in Russian Tuning Auto magazine for almost three years. I’m also a great fan of JDM style, drifting and practically everything that reminds me of Japan. But in this month I made an exception to my rules, and here are some interesting BMWs from Russia. Check it out! I think you’ll agree with me, that this white E92 330i is very stylish and nice. It looks simple and at...

I'm sure most of you guys are aware of the short but fruitful linkup between BMW and McLaren that produced the F1 Supercar, but this was not the first time these two companies worked together. Back in the 1970s McLaren had an American based racing team that was used for its Indianapolis campaigns. It was this team which BMW charged with running its IMSA Camel GT campaigns for the '77, '78 and '79 racing seasons. And this was the tool: the E21 BMW 320 Turbo IMSA racer. A car which...

Jon prepared this incredible high resolution rendering of a DTM concept E92 M3 just for Speedhunters BMW month. Head to the Desktops section right now to pick up this piece of art in widescreen or standard format. Big thanks to Jon for working with us on this one! -Mike Garrett...

Our Speedhunting trip to Munich couldn't have been any better. Sure we had a tight schedule during our time there, visiting places like BMW's Welt and Museum not to mention the BMW Group Classic collection. But what made it extra special for me was driving the two cars BMW had lent us, kind of like a pair of cherries on top of a nice creamy cake. On this post I will look at the dark blue M5 that accompanied me during this memorable trip, a car that I had chosen over the smaller and equally...

When at Imola the other week I spotted a couple of interesting looking factory modified BMW's sitting in the paddock. First up the 123d here is fitted with the full BMW Performance package, which adds some tantalizing parts like the sportier front bumper, side skirts with air intake... ...and a nice carbon lip spoiler. Sitting next to it was this 335i sedan, wearing some very aggressively styled 19-inch wheels. We asked the guys at BMW if we could take the car into the pits to grab some quick...

We still have a couple Stanceworks car to showcase before BMW month is over, with one of them being this E21 320i owned by Nic Foster of Tuscon AZ. One thing I've noticed about the Stanceworks crew is that these guys come from all over the United States instead of just one region. It's always nice to see long distance camaraderie in the car world!...

As we wrap up BMW month, there's one more big retrospective piece left to do - the M cars. For over 30 years M-badged cars have embodied BMW's motoring spirit on roads and racing circuits around the world. You've already seen lots of BMW's race cars this month, so let's take a look at the history of production M cars, dating back to the famous BMW M1 of the late '70s....

BMW Mobile Tradition is BMW North America's vintage fleet of race cars that are toured around the country to some of the greatest car shows the US has to offer. These aren't your usual museum show cars though. All of them are fully operational and I've been lucky enough to drive most of them. And drive them hard... I'm not going to go into detail about these cars' history because honestly, Rod knows a lot more about these than I do. What I do know about these cars is how they...

We have just over a day left in BMW month and we've yet to feature any BMW drag cars here. Generally Bimmers aren't favorites among the 1320 crowd, but the doesn't mean there aren't any BMW drag cars out there. The M Coupe seen above was built by Micke Svensson and features a custom chassis with a Ford 9" rear, a sequential gearbox and an 887hp turbocharged M3 motor under the carbon body. Weighing in at just 1054kg, the car is capable of running the quarter mile in the low eight second range. -Mike Garrett...

It's going to be several hours before the sun rises in Vancouver, Canada but I'm already up and am working away on my last few BMW feature stories. The first subject to check out is another bit of Munich based Speedhunting that Dino and I did in Germany last Wednesday. We took our two BMW press cars and drove south from Munich for around 100 kms on the world famous Autobahn freeways. This journey is a story unto itself, but I'll let Dino talk about that in a separate post. I'll just...

If you already own one of the most extreme build drift S15's on the planet, what kind of car you would drive on a daily basis? It is the same question that Phil Morrison had to answer, in the end he chose this BMW E46 M3. It isn't the most modified M3 out there but it will surely turn some heads with its Eissenmann exhaust. The CSL bootlid is very popular amongst the BMW enthusiasts, this version is entirely made out of carbon to save extra weight. You also see the four exhaust tips from...

Lately we held the finals of the Danish Championship and the Nordic Championship at Sturup Raceway in Sweden.
