Let's start with part two of my coverage of the Streetpower event at Zandvoort. I couldn't resist starting with the Bonder E36 by DBM Engineering. It certainly is one of the most extreme BMW's I have seen in a while. It even managed to set the second fastest time of the day with 1:50.063. Here's another car built and maintained by the guys from Jeroentje.nl . This time a R33 GTS-T with a RB25 engine that has been rated around 325bhp. It seems like fluorescent colors were hot during...

A Speedhunters reader by the name of Kevin sent us an email sharing a radical BMW build he found. Based here in the US, this 1988 M5 is one of the most thorough privateer track cars I've ever seen....

As enthusiasts, we personify cars as much as we can. Some of us give our cars names. A great many of us lust after cars like we would lust after a beautiful woman. We some all somehow make an emotional connection to these lumps of steel, aluminum, plastic and rubber as we would a best friend or even a lover. Certain cars make us laugh, others are serious businessmen, and others are like that decades old friend that is always there for you. I think its pretty safe to say that we are all guilty of...

I don't know the story behind this photo or where it was shot, but it sure put a big grin on my face.
The perfect image for a cold, dark Wednesday in January.

In 2009 the WTCC delivered the fan formula it's perfected over the years: big grid smash and grab action, drivers who seem to think they're at a local short-track banger event and 24 races over a big variety of circuits. The series visited smooth permanent race tracks, high voltage street circuits and some of the classic tracks - plus, it could be argued, gravel rally stages in the case of the Mexican track at Puebla, where the tarmac still seems to break up as soon as the first car takes...

Luckily this picture hasn't been the result of a broken gas tank. But it does make for a very dramatic photo. I have been in contact with the builder Fluid Motor Union after I received this picture in my mailbox. I wanted to show you the full feature of this car already, but because of certain circumstances that will have to wait. I did got the specs on the wheels. The front wheels are actually the standard M coupe rear wheels and the rear wheels have been widened to 11 inches. So now they measure...

Now to wrap up my coverage from the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. While there were a few big cars debuted at this year's show, it also marked the American debut of cars shown earlier at other international auto shows. One of these was the Mini Coupe Concept, which looks amazing in the flesh....

Some owners build a car and after they run out of inspiration they sell it. But there are others that keep evolving their precious metal. We all got to know this car as a rusted E28 with tons of presence owned by Mike Burroughs. I featured his car before when he made a road trip across America . After that roadtrip Mike turned the car into a mean looking WWII fighter bomber. I always enjoy following certain cars and witness the things the owners can come up with as they reinvent their personal rides...

When living so close to ‘The Ring' you sometimes feel spoiled as the high performance cars you'll encounter at the track become normal. For example, Porsche 911 GT3s are nothing special to see when Speedhunting at the Nordeschliefe. So you start searching for cars that are less obvious to satisfy your car craving. On my last visit I spotted this BMW E36 touring which certainly grabbed my attention. It has been painted in Porsche green, the same color you can find on the GT3 RS version...

It seems like the current November "Slammed Month" theme has divided the Speedhunters audience up into two polarized camps. Some of you hold fast to the premise: Form Follows Function and that all upgrades and alterations to a car should be in the pursuit of handing and speed... or at least gives the appearance of this. Others prefer to weigh visual style over performance and are more about show than go . You like cars which place a greater value on aesthetic impact over easy functionality...

Following the teaser film of the new M3 GTS BMW released last week on its Youtube Channel, I was happy to find two additional videos of the new car today. With a 400 pound weight reduction and a V8 motor stroked to 4.4L the 450HP M3 GTS takes over from where the E46 M3 CSL left off. These are the kinds of cars I love, rear seats eliminated to give space for the half-roll cage, adjustable suspension and upgraded brakes. The GTS is currently on offer only in Europe but there is a good chance BMW will consider other markets. I'm sure I'll be seeing personally imported GTS' in the future at Tsukuba or Fuji!

While researching this blog post, I didn't want to make a standard Driver Profile of Paul Vlasblom like what we've been doing with the Formula D drifters. I wanted to turn it into a Q&A type of feature with lots of pictures of his cars, build projects and driving skills instead. Paul's career got started in 1998 when he was working for a Porsche dealership and and was racing a E30. He already loved to slide the little BMW but it never occurred to him it was a real sport. He won the...

These are the posts I love the most, allowing readers to get a more down-to-earth look into companies and personalities. Away from the limelight it is always so refreshing to see just how normal people are and the guys at T&E were a great bunch to spend the best part of a day with. I dropped by their main shop in Yokohama to try to get a behind the scenes look at what is one of the most respected aero parts makers in Japan. The man behind it all is Takahiro Ueno, who currently drivers the 2JZ...

Now for my third installment I will be looking at some of the other cars that were present. The first car we have is the green E36 Wagon in the opening picture. It had a solid setup with its green color and flush Racing Dynamics wheels. I kept coming back to this car, and couldn't resist taking lots of pictures of it, maybe I can turn it into a car spotlight, anybody interested? Next week I will have another E36 wagon for you guys. It's a very famous car in Europe and it is used for drifting...

Just saw this small video in which a girl pays cash for a ride in a BMW M3. At first I thought it was a video made by BMW to promote their brand, but in fact it is made by some individuals with a very keen eye. Maybe this can work as inspiration for some of the videographers we have featured on Speedhunters.

I made so many pictures last Thursday, so I wasn't sure how I wanted to start this second post. I could do a separate BMW post or a Porsche post, but I decided to mix it up a bit. So there's something for everyone. In the opening shot you see the parking lot that's left of the entrance. On days like this you can walk around and chat to the owners or just check the awesome machinery that is present. The first car that caught my eye in this picture was the BMW M6 on the foreground. I'm...

This is Andy Priaulx MBE, Husband to a fantastic wife, father to two gorgeous kids but then I would say that ; racing driver from an early age racing almost everything from Motorbikes and power boats to formula one cars, currently racing in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) having won the title three times in a row now trying to win it back. My experience of GT racing is also varied but my greatest success was to win the Nurburgring race in 2005 with Said, Lamy and Husiman, to master the...

Just found this video in which you can see Sean McInerney lapping Silverstone in a BMW M1 Procar. It has been shot in HD so I suggest you turn up your sound system and listen to that straight six scream. The engine sound is one of the best in the world.

I'm back home in LA now after a long road trip, watching dark rain clouds fill the sky. Rain in Southern California? Does such a thing exist?
Anyways, we have a busy week ahead of us as we gear up for the Formula D finale in Irwindale, but before that we have more action from the Monterey Sports Car Championships at Laguna Seca. If you had the chance to watch the ALMS race on SPEED TV, then you know how crazy things got at Laguna Seca over the weekend!...

Just got back to to the hotel here in Monterey after spending the day at the final round of the 2009 American LeMans Series at Laguna Seca. My body is massively sore from hiking around Laguna Seca's scenic hills today, but before I collapse I wanted to post a few quick photos and highlights from the day's practice and qualifying sessions....
