The other day I spotlighted a very high riding '55 Chevy gasser from Billetproof. Today I have another '55 from the show, albeit one that's done in an entirely different way....

One of the fun things about shows like Billetproof is seeing old cars from American companies that have long faded away. One the rarities that I spotted this year is this Kaiser Deluxe Coupe with a very unique coat of patina....

I don't think it's any secret that I'm a huge fan of gassers. To me there's just this something awesome about these high riding machines that takes me back to the drawings I would scribble in my notebook in school.
At this year's Billetproof show, I came across an example of what I think might be the perfect gasser....

Just went through and uploaded some high res desktops from Billetproof for you guys to enjoy. Head over the Desktops section now to find a shot of this radical bare metal Hot Rod, a rusty Falcon Wagon, a mean satin coupe, and a beautiful '58 Plymouth. All are available in widescreen and standard formats.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Time to close out my look at Billetproof California 2011 with one more batch of photos from this famous gathering in Northern California.
Up above we have a fine looking Thunderbird with some brilliant paint and bodywork....

I think the stories on Speedhunters at the moment a perfect snapshot of global automotive culture at the moment. Dino is bringing the VIP hotness from Osaka, Paddy and Jonathan a dose of classic European motoring from Goodwood, Jeroen has the latest and greatest from Frankfurt, and I'm here with some old fashioned Hot Rods and customs and Billetproof.
Here's the third of my four part look at Billetproof 2011....

Welcome to part two of my look at at the "World's Least Important Car Show" -Billetproof.
For those who like their automobiles raw and unfiltered, there's no better place to be....

On Saturday I made my annual trek to Northern California's delta country for the 2011 edition of Billetproof in the city of Antioch. With this being my third time shooting Billetproof, I decided to approach my coverage a little differently than usual. Taking a page from the book of Linhbergh, I headed out to capture the sights using only my 30mm prime lens....

For my first contribution to Drag Month, I thought I'd do a quick spotlight on a car I stumbled across a couple weeks ago at Billetproof in Antioch.
While a lot of the race cars at events like Billetproof are modern builds done in traditional style, this car is a genuine historic drag car that's been converted for street use....

I've got a busy weekend of Speedhunting ahead of me. In just a little bit I'll be heading down to Long Beach to check out the Motorama, and then tomorrow I'm driving down to San Diego to shoot the Coronado Speed Festival.
I'm excited for both of those events, but first I need to wrap up last weekend's Speedhunting adventures with one last look at Billetproof. ...

It's time for another batch of photos from that celebration of rust, primer, and all things not billet that happens every year in Northern California.
I think I've said this before, but Billetproof really is something everyone should experience, even if you don't think of yourself as a "hot rod person"....

As far as my event coverage has been going lately, Old School Month never really ended. Earlier this month I was soaking in Japanese classics in Long Beach, and last weekend I found myself up at the Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in Antioch for the "World's Least Important Car Show", Billetproof California....

I figured I'd follow up yesterday's Cadillac post with another find from Billetproof 2009 - a bagged '62 Ford Thunderbird. Just like the Caddy, this a period style '60s kustom, with the exception of the modern suspension that allows it lay frame at the press of a button.
Sooo sexy.

I thought I'd follow up my Toyota Cressida spotllight with another one, this time on a distinctively American machine - a '61 Cadillac Coupe De Ville owned by a fellow named Hunter Bender of Sacramento, California. Spotted at Billetproof 2009 in Antioch, this low slung beauty stopped me dead in my tracks, and I've been anxiously waiting slammed month to post up a few photos of this car....

Back in September when I was at Billetproof 2009 in Antioch CA, I kept my eyes open for interesting low cars to spotlight this month. I found all manner of slammed customs and rods, but none were as crazy as the '59 Rolls Royce pictured above. Seeing the world's most prestigious luxury car and scraping the ground is one of those things that just grabs you, and I knew I had to include this sled in our monthly features....

Now that I'm up and running in my new place I figured I should wrap up my Billetproof coverage with a final selection of photographs from Antioch. Billetproof is really one of those events where nearly every car is "post-worthy", but space and time constraints mean I can only show a portion of them. If you want the full Billetproof experience, you should look into visiting one of these fantastic events in person. ...

It's time for more coverage from the weekend's Billetproof gathering at the Contra Costa County fairgrounds in Antioch, California. It always pleases me to see the positive responses to the hot rod and custom material we feature. Out of all the events I've covered, these are some of the most fun of to shoot. Even if you don't think you're the "hot rod type", a trip to a show like Billetproof might change you.
Anyways, let's get on with more Billetproof coverage....

The first time I heard about Billetproof was in a Hot Rod Magazine article about eight years ago. At that time the traditional rod and custom movement was just starting to gain momentum, and shows like Billetproof were at the forefront of the revolution. There are now Billetproof events held across the United States, but the first was the California edition - held annually in the SF Bay Area . Even though I didn't live terribly far from Antioch (the current site of the show), it wasn't until this year that I was finally able to head up there and take in Billetproof in person....

Welcome to the "World's Least Important Car Show". That is the official slogan of the Billetproof events which are now held all over the United States, and the most recent one was held this weekend in the Northern California city of Antioch drawing somewhere in the range of 1000 cars. We came across some photos of the show on the HAMB forums, and this unique event is surely worth sharing here on Speedhunters....
