Hot on the heels of Larry's desktops from GTA in Sonoma, I thought I'd add a couple more high res Time Attack photos from Buttonwillow....

Let's go ahead now and take a second look at Wednesday's action from the Super Lap Battle event at Buttonwillow. As I said in the first post, there's nothing quite like a Time Attack event to cleanse oneself after a week at SEMA....

No sooner had I wrapped up my coverage from the SEMA Show when it was time to load up the camera gear and hit the road once more yesterday morning. This time the destination would be another early November tradition for us - the Super Lap Battle Finals at Buttonwillow Raceway....

This past Monday I was sitting at my desk going through some photos from the Eagle Field Drags when my phone rang.
"Hey would you like to come out to Buttonwillow for a private track day with John Hotchkis and some of his friends tomorrow?", the voice at the other end said.
"Sure."...

With the Speedhunters team out in full force at the Spa 24H and Linhnbergh shooting rally antics at the XGames, I decided that my Speedhunting weekend should take on more of a grassroots direction. On Saturday morning I packed up the camera, a few cold drinks and made my way to Buttonwillow Raceway....

Alright, time for some more scenes from the 2010 season opener of the Redline Time Attack series at Buttonwillow Raceway. As you saw in the last post, while some of the familiar faces of the scene were missing, the teams that did come out were as focused as ever....

This past weekend was quite the busy one for me.
On Saturday I headed to the Formula Drift Tech Day at UTI in Rancho Cucamonga, and yesterday I drove up to Buttonwillow Raceway to check out the opening round of the 2010 Redline Time Attack season.
While the driver turnout at Buttonwillow could have been better, more than one record-setting lap would be recorded before the dust settled on Sunday evening....

In the previous blog post about the Hellaflush 3.5 event, I mentioned how this event is more so of an automotive festival than a mere car showcase. Think of it like Japan's Nismo Festival , or the Mooneyes Xmas Show in the United States. It's a celebration of all things automotive. Throughout the event at the Buttonwillow racetrack, there were cars that would please all manner of car enthusiasts; from people that appreciate their cars as a rolling art form, to people that practice the discipline...

Buttonwillow racetrack is a good three hours to the two major metropolitan areas in the state of California. It literally is in the middle of no where; the only things around the track are farms, cows, farms, and more cows! Knowing that, it's quite a sight to see such a crowd at a racetrack so far away from anything. Hellaflush 3.5 was held at that racetrack this past weekend, and it drew quite the crowd! The Hellaflush meets are generally known as an informal car show filled with tuned automobiles...

Those of you who followed our coverage of the Superlap Battle will recall the AMS team had a little bit of an issue with fire at the event. They've now just released this video where you can see what happened for yourself. The piece also documents the team's attempts to get the car fixed in time for the Red Line Time Attack event at Fontana a few days later. Check the video to see the dramas unfold!

The 2009 American time attack season is now behind us. Following the Super Lap Battle at Buttonwillow on Wednesday, the Redline Time Attack series wrapped up their season at California Speedway over the weekend. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get out to Fontana for myself, as I was up in the Bay Area for the Hellaflush meet. You can expect some Hellaflush coverage later today, but first I'm going to finish my Super Lap coverage from Buttonwillow....

Hey, I thought November was supposed to be the off-season for car events? With SEMA, the VIP Festival, and Wednesday's Super Lap Battle, it's been a busy week of Speedhunting for me - and it's not over yet. Later this afternoon I'll be hitting the road towards NorCal for tomorrow's Hella Flush meet in Milpitas. Before I leave, I thought I'd post some more Buttonwillow Super Lap coverage for you guys....

Every November for the past several years, America's (and the world's) fastest tuner cars have gathered at Buttonwillow Raceway for a one-day battle in the dusty and fragrant Central Valley of California. Upon arriving at the track, I noticed the paddock appeared a little emptier than past years. Nonetheless, all the top players in the game were present and accounted for. Teams like FX Motorsports, Sierra Sierra, Crawford, and AMS were all ready to fight in hopes of claiming the day's fastest time, and just maybe breaking the long standing track record held by NOB Taniguchi and the HKS CT230R....

For those of you who have been waiting to see more "functional" machines on Speedhunters this month, don't worry. Tomorrow is the annual Super Lap Finals at Butonwillow Raceway, and I'll be heading out bright and early to bring you guys the action.
Even better, if you live in California and can find an excuse to get out of work or school for the day, you can head to Buttonwillow tomorrow and see it for yourself!
If not, stay tuned to the site.

Yesterday I highlighted some of the class winners from the Redline Time Attack event held at Buttonwillow Raceway last weekend, and now I'll wrap up my event coverage with some more odds and ends from the kick off of the 2009 US time attack season. With over 100 entries spread among the different classes, there were a lot of cars out there that I haven't even posted yet....

Yesterday you saw a few shots from last weekend's Redline Time Attack season opener at Buttonwillow Raceway, but I'm sure a lot of you were curious about the results from the first big US time attack competition of 2009.
Shall we have a look?...

I've been back home in the USA for a few weeks now, and I guess you could say that I'm over what they call "reverse culture shock". With the 2009 racing season now in full swing, it was time to head out to Buttonwillow Raceway this weekend to have a look at the opening round of the 2009 Redline Time Attack series. Before leaving for Japan, I had spent a lot of time shooting time attack events at Buttonwillow, and I was excited to see how the American time attack scene had changed during the time I was gone. Sunday morning I loaded up the car and headed down the dusty highway to the birthplace of "Time Attack USA"....
