On my way back from a certain photoshoot I spotted this yellow EK Type R that has been imported either from Japan or the UK because the steering wheel was on the ‘wrong' side. It was cool to see this yellow car in between all the other dull looking cars. I didn't got a chance to shoot anymore because it's hard to handle your camera and the steering wheel at the same time, haha. -Jeroen Willemsen

Today I had a job interview in Amsterdam and there I spotted this Scirocco with a full Rieger bodykit, it also had small sticker on the trunk saying MTM. They have a full engine package available for this car, so I hope it wasn't just stickerstuning. Seeing a Scirocco is one thing but seeing one like this in the capital of Holland really made my day. Can't wait for the Essen Motor Show at the end of this month. Last year I already saw several Scirocco's but I'm guessing there will...

Now for my third installment I will be looking at some of the other cars that were present. The first car we have is the green E36 Wagon in the opening picture. It had a solid setup with its green color and flush Racing Dynamics wheels. I kept coming back to this car, and couldn't resist taking lots of pictures of it, maybe I can turn it into a car spotlight, anybody interested? Next week I will have another E36 wagon for you guys. It's a very famous car in Europe and it is used for drifting...

I made so many pictures last Thursday, so I wasn't sure how I wanted to start this second post. I could do a separate BMW post or a Porsche post, but I decided to mix it up a bit. So there's something for everyone. In the opening shot you see the parking lot that's left of the entrance. On days like this you can walk around and chat to the owners or just check the awesome machinery that is present. The first car that caught my eye in this picture was the BMW M6 on the foreground. I'm...

The GT-R is linked in every way possible with the famous Nürburgring, so for a lot of owners of this car it is a once in a lifetime experience to be able to drive this circuit. Not for the guys I saw today because they are regulars and meet up with other GT-R owners to share their experiences. It's all part of the package when owning this car, it's not just the car it's a community you live in now....

Just because you guys asked for it, I've collected some more shots of the cars at the Nurburgring Nordeschleife parking lot. This is the area where people wait, before entering the track for public hotlapping. The first car is this Alfa Romeo 147 with Sportec wheels that looks spot on. I noticed that there were several Alfa's but they were older types like the Alfa 75 and 33. On the way to the track, I spotted this AE86 in Adenau, we didn't had time to stop and photograph it but luckily...

Yesterday I went to the Nürburgring again to witness on off the latest ‘touristenfahrten' weekends. We have two more to go but after that the track will be closed until March next year. I got in contact with Stephane Benini from Clash Production , he offered me a ride in his newly acquired BMW E36 M3. Off course I immediately said yes. But before I will tell you more about that experience I wanted to show you guys the diversity of cars that you can find on the parking lot that surrounds...

With Formula D's wide-reaching schedule, people from all around North America get the chance to watch high level professional drifting in person. That's great, but those of us that travel with the series typically see the same cars and drivers at each round whether it's on the East Coast or the West Coast. One thing that I've enjoyed doing this season is taking a look around the spectator parking lots at each event to see what the locals are driving. Last weekend in Seattle, I saw a nice assortment of iron in the parking lot of Evergreen Speedway and thought it might be cool to post up some of my findings....

Well, I've been back from Japan for a couple days now, still dealing with a bit of jet lag and readjusting to the 100 degree + temps here in California's central valley. For now I'd like to continue with some more random car sightings from both the Japanese countryside and in bustling metropolitan Tokyo....

When I was living in Japan, one of the things I liked to do was post photographs of random cars I'd see while out and about. I've always thought it was cool to see what kind of cars you find "out in the wild", especially in place like Japan. Since I've been back here, I've done my best to take the camera along with me when I go out to see what sort of stuff I could find along the way....

OK let's continue where we left off yesterday with some more weekend car sightings from the mean streets of the Odaiba. The idea of saying goodbye to Japan is leaving me with mixed emotions. On one hand I'm really going to miss being surrounded by the "exoticness" of Japanese car life, while another part of me is looking forward to the freedom of being back in the USA where I can enjoy luxuries like owning a project car. Not having to pay over $50 in tolls to take a 90-mile highway trip is going to be nice as well... ...

It's hard to believe, but just nine days from now I'm going to be back home in California. I've been so busy over the past several days working, packing, and preparing for new life in the USA that I guess it's just starting to hit me now. Before I head back, I still have some cool Japanese material to post though. Last weekend when I was in Odaiba shooting photos for the Megaweb and History Garage features, I also spent some time on the streets taking snapshots for another one of my "car sightings" stories....

Now for a few more pictures from last weekend's car-spotting adventures in Tokyo. The area around Shibuya is filled with pedestrian overpasses which make a nice spot to view the cars below, though I'm sure I looked mighty strange standing up there shooting photos of passing traffic. Oh well, I like doing these posts. I'll start with this shot of Honda Fit 1.5S zipping through one of Shibuya's big (and incredibly confusing) intersections....

I'm finding it had to believe that I'm going to be back home in the USA in just over a month from now. The wife and I have been quite busy lately making arrangements for the move, and last weekend she had to go to Tokyo to take care of some stuff for her visa. Instead of staying home, I decided to tag along with my camera and wander the streets looking for cool cars while she was at her appointment. Since I would be around some of Tokyo's most fashionable areas like Daikanyama, Shibuya, and Harajuku, I was excited to see what sort of automotive finds I'd come across....

I know we are wrapping up Mazda month right now, but I have a few more photos I wanted to post before moving on. Last weekend at HKS Premium Day and the JCCA New Year Meeting, I spotted a number of Roadsters in and around the events, and I thought posting some of the photos would be a good way to close out the month. While these cars aren't the "best" examples out there, I think they do a nice job showing some of the typical Roadsters you'll see on the streets of Japan....

Right now Japan is entering it's annual New Year holiday where companies shut down and everyone heads home to spend time with their families, eating traditional foods and that sort of thing. I guess its the opposite from the West where people get together with family for Christmas and then party with their buddies on New Years. Anyways, there won't be much going on here in Japan until Tokyo Auto Salon starts on January 9th....

I want to take a quick break from my Nismo Festival coverage to post up a some more snapshots of interesting cars I've spotted over the past couple weeks. First off, we have this cool two-tone kei van I saw in the parking lot at Tsukuba Circuit. I didn't get a look at the front, but I'm guessing it has the popular VW bus conversion on it. I think something like this would be the perfect daily driver around here....

Last week I tried I new kind of post where I showcased some of the cars I spotted on the streets of Tokyo, and judging by the feedback on that post, it sounds like you guys want to see more of that kind of stuff. With this in mind, I took my camera along yesterday when we out shopping. "Inaka" is what the Japanese call small town rural areas and the cars you find out here make an interesting contrast to the stuff you see in Tokyo. For example, check out this '90s Toyota Crown wagon dropped on some big-lipped wheels that I spotted cruising down Route 294 near Shimotsuma city. Cars like this are common sight in rural Ibaraki Prefecture....
