It's been too long! I miss you guys... sniff sniff. Life has been busy, lets just say that. However, I DID finally get some major progress done on the car in Jan/Feb. Back in January after I finished most of the prep on the body shell, my buddy Colin Jensan came by my shop and schooled me on the ways of MIG welding. I haven't done any welding since high school, and even then, my experience is very limited. Armed with a small Lincoln Weldpak MIG machine I went to town on the chassis stitch...

The sound.. the fury! I love the slide throttles too.. nice touch. I wonder how fast this car will be? If you want to see this video in HD, check it out on YouTube.

My friend Derrick down in Pheonix sent this to me the other day, Tony Szirka - Evo owner, driver, and founder of UMS Tuning in Mesa AZ is no stranger to DSM tuning. And his experience and passion has culminated in this potent time attack weapon. Keep an eye out for a detailed feature from Derrick as he plans on taking a closer look in between track days as well as a feature on UMS Tuning down in Pheonix. Special thanks to Charles Siritho for this awesome shot! - Carl Jarrett

My friend Derrick down in Pheonix wrote to me a couple months ago and said I had to feature this car here on SpeedHunters, and I have to admit, at first I was a bit skeptical, I'm not a huge FF fan, but I am a big fan of hardcore track biased cars, especially ones with a good personal story attached to them, and this is definitely one of those. The car started out as a JDM street car, a CX model, which had what, 70hp stock? Phil Robles, the owner of the car had been a race fan for a long time...

1.9? Why 1.9? Well I haven't got as much done as I'd like to have, but am still making progress, and am making progress in the planning stages as well. I've been busy prepping the car for a LOT of work in the coming months. Its pretty boring stuff at this stage, so don't say I didn't warn you. I spent almost 2 days crouched inside this beast removing that damn sound deadening. I used chunks of dry ice for the first pass (looked like an old high-school dance in my shop with the...

Its been too long since I posted that teaser, but check it out! I'm pretty stoked to be able to see a glimpse of what my project will look like when its done (next year). Here's where the nerd in me comes out, I mocked up this shot of the car in a windtunnel, not that it'll ever see one I'm sure, but a cool image regardless. There is a good chance I'll be doing some CFD tests with this car though, testing out various diffuser, canard, and wing set-ups. For the sake of these concept...

I had to share this car with you all, very impressive work went into this Evo VI and it was almost all done by one chap named Clive over in the good ol UK. First off, everything except for the cage, the paint, and the engine mapping was done by Clive himself, who is an Aircraft Engineer by trade, so everything you see below, was done by him in his spare time at home. I was checking out what was going on over at http://www.timeattackforums.com and I came across someone who saw this build-up thread...

I've been working hard on the car in the garage as well as on the computer building up a visual target *that's what we call it in the games biz* for my FC build. I wanted something to be able to show people what this beast is going to look like. Enjoy the teaser! Should have the car really for IPO right around SEMA. - Carl Jarrett

Saw this rad looking Evo 8 on www.timeattackforums.com , its a 2003 with a 2.3L stroker engine and GT35 turbo. The livery is an interesting take of urban camo mixed with gloss yellow and black on the rest of the car. - Carl Jarrett

You might remember my blog post in July finding the car to start my newest project, a road race/time attack/hill climb/who knows 1988 Mazda RX7, as promised here's the official part 1 of my EPIC (please note my pretentious and humorous tone here) RX7 race car build! Over my break from work and after my eyes healed up from laser eye surgery I finally had some free time to get started on my new adventure. Step 1 is the messiest and dirtiest but pretty damn fun at times, the tear down... The tear...

Ferrari just announced thier replacement of the Ferrari F430, the all-new 458 Italia. Set to be launched next year, the new mid-engined Ferrari will sport a new 4.5 litre flat-plane crank V8 as usual, but this time with direct-injection delivering a whopping 562hp at an insane 9000rpm and 398lb-ft of torque, highest revving engine ever for a Ferrari production road car I think. The new direct-injection engine can come mated to Ferrari's new seven speed dual clutch gearbox, I don't know about...

I've asked myself this question a few times in the past couple days, 'what have I got myself into?!?' Or, 'I sold my Cobra for this?' You might remember my post from a few weeks ago when I sold my FFR. A little scary to dive into such a big project, but man am I looking forward to it! I picked up an '88 RX-7 the other day for $200, basically bought it for the shell only, as most of the parts aren't pristine, as I'm sure you can tell. The owner had it sitting 20 feet...

Last week I said goodbye to a dear friend, she's gone, thats it, no more.. I spent 3 years of my life building this beast, and drove it for another 2 1/2 years, flogged it on the track a bunch, and generally had a blast, but like all good things, it came to an end. While selling a car is always a tough thing, I did at least get the joy knowing the new owner will take great care of it, and I have never sold anything to anyone so excited in thier life, he's definitely deserving, and I'm...

Ok, I've found destiny, I am LOVING this car. As some of you know I built up a FFR Cobra roadster, but I'd sell that, and my soul in a heartbeat for one of these. Exotic Auto Restoration in SoCal have taken a Superformance Coupe and modified it to produce a limited run of very special Daytona Coupes. Superformance cars are authorized by the man himself Carroll Shelby as 'legit' replicas (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one), so a Superformance Coupe is as close as you're going...

I went to this show here in Vancouver about a week ago, and I'm afraid to admit, I was a little underwhelmed! I mean, there was lots of great cars, but really nothing that exciting, I guess thats what going to the big shows like SEMA and NAIAS do to you, take the edge off the excitement of anything lesser. Anyways, there were still some interesting cars there, and I'm going to take you on a short journey through some of the images from the show. The above image is a fairly stock Corvette...

Last week Düsseldorf hosted a spectacular DTM event to show over 210,000 fans how rad DTM is. They put down a short course through the city center where Audi and Mercedes could show off thier goods. Burnouts, donuts, and acceleration sprints were the excitement of the day. Imagine the sound of those uncorked NA V8's ripping it up to their redlines. Not sure who this dude is, mascot of Düsseldorf? Maybe just move over so we can see what AMG is bringing to the table in 2009. 2009's...
