Ok you will have to bear with me here as I'm going to get a bit technical. In the above picture is probably the best brake set-up I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing, and it all happened by pure chance. The other day my friend Adam and I were down at the Hakone Turnpike, probably the most famous stretch of driving road in Japan, having a bit of a play in a car that you will be seeing very soon here on Speedhunters. On one of our many outings on the fast and challenging touge, we spotted...

The night after the RX-7 annual meeting last week I found myself returning to Daikoku PA for yet another gathering. This time it was something closer to heart as I met up with a few friends of mine, most of them GT-R owners, as well as others with cool and interesting cars. For years now a bunch of us "foreigners" have been religiously meeting up on the second Wednesday of every month, setting up our meetings via the UK GT-R Register forum at GTR.co.uk. Unfortunately being the summer holidays...

Greetings to all avid followers of Speedhunters . My name is Dino Dalle Carbonare and I’m a car addict. It all started when my parents took me to see a hill climb race when I was just four, back home in Italy. After seeing, hearing and smelling those awesome metal contraptions shoot up the mountain road, my young mind was captivated and from that moment on, I knew I wanted to be around cars for the rest of my life. Growing up in the UK broadened my horizons, compared to Italy, there was a far...

Earlier this month, there was a discussion about the roadster community amongst a few of us Speedhunter folks and the subject of the Kinod Photography group came up. I hadn't heard of them previously, so had a look at their site and was rather impressed with what I saw.... One photographer particularly stood out: a young chap named Linhbergh Nguyen. I don't know where he learned to shoot photos but think he has an incredible eye for composition, light and colour.... things that you can't...

They say a week, in politics, is a long time. While I would hesitate to compare myself with the fools and charlatans that infest Parliament (I can only offer comments on the shower here in the UK) a week is also a long time in the SpeedHunters’ world. Today I sit here in the UK, “enjoying” the first real taste of winter with Northerly winds driving the thermometer south towards zero, while cranking out this piece. Last weekend I was at the Port of Long Beach with a flat out crazy...

My father was a bit of a car nut. He introduced me to the term "kicking the tires" at the local dealerships. We weren't a particularly brand loyal family either. Dad cycled through Chevy V8's and even an '86 Corolla (At the time this was the new hotness!). (The image is from a Toyota brochure circa 1980's, and isn't the exact car that he had) My first car was the epitome of reliably bland. A 1990 Toyota Tercel (Thank wikipedia for the image of exactly what my lump of...

Hi everyone! I’m Antonio Alvendia from Cipher Garage. I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area; I was a Silicon Valley kid. Right after high school, I began a career working in the internet and wireless networking industry, which led me to become a marketing and sales manager for a couple of large internet companies, as well as a few smaller start-ups. I remember when the internet was a new thing, and people were still calling it “the information superhighway,” haha! During this...

“Ok man, we need an expanded Bio from you by Wednesday” wrote the Saintly Editor………….. Bio? Bio? WTF? War and Peace? Fear and Loathing? Well up to a point Lord Copper. As the token old fart in SpeedHunters’ collection of misfits er, contributors I have perhaps a longer charge sheet than most but in order to save the planet I will keep this “Bio” brief, just highlighting a few random moments and whatnots. This is just the first instalment....

I’m going to get a bit deep with you if you’ll bear with me for a moment. I’d like to talk about imprints: gateways in life which stay with you forever. These imprints happen at significant moments in every person’s young life and go on to inform the shape of their passions, dreams, likes and dislikes. The launch of this new Speedhunters project has been making me think back to some of my own imprints and how they relate to my full-on passion for car culture. Why is it that...

The 'Chongster', otherwise known as the Creative Director (!?!) of Speedhunters asked me to write an introduction piece for the new site. I will try (!) to keep it short and sweet. I originally come from Bristol (a City fan btw!), England and have always been interested in cars, motorsport and design. I have photos from when I was 2 or 3 with posters of Datsun 120Y, Marinas and Austin Allegros(!) on my bedroom wall. Thankfully, my taste has improved since then....i think. I spent my childhood...

Having a passion for cars is an expensive hobby. But it is also a very fulfilling one; don’t you just love to go out on a Friday and meet up with some friends at a local car park and talk about cars? I used to do that all the time when I first got my driver’s license 10 years ago and my first Honda Civic Coupe. We always used to go to a Mc Donald’s at one of the main highways in Holland to get together and party. We raced in the night and visited a lot of tuning shows during the...

Cars have been a part of my life since before I can remember. My family has pictures of me going to car shows with my dad while I was still in a stroller. Even as a toddler, I was taking notice of cars around me. My mom says that I was able to identify pickup trucks just by looking at their tailgates. I couldn't read the words on them, but somehow I could recognize the logos. I don't recall owning too many action figures growing up. Instead, my toy box was filled with Matchboxes, Hotwheels...

Not too long ago, I had the chance to go to the Nissan dealership in Fukushima Japan with Nobushige Kumakubo and Mitsuteru Igusa from Japan's legendary Team Orange. Since I had never had the chance to see a GTR in a Japanese car dealership at the time, I wanted to check it out. We all took turns sitting in the car, while Kumakubo and Igusa whispered to each other in Japanese, saying phrases like "hehhhhhhh..." and "iii ne!" while the Nissan salesman danced around them, trying...
