Our friends at WORLD Racing recently released this video of the last Global Time Attack event of 2011. Held at Sonoma, Chris Rado pushed the Team Need for Speed Scion tC2 to 1:45.320; a time good enough to set a new FWD track record.

Global Time Attack finished it's inaugural season with a bang this past week at one of the most beautiful tracks in North America, Infineon Raceway. In total seven records were broken. One of them now belongs to Team Need for Speed driver, Chris Rado, who beat the previous front wheel drive time attack record by about seven seconds. Need for Speed The Run starts hitting shelves today - the European launch is this Friday - and there's some aspects to the game that we thought you'd find interesting. After months of planning, building and tuning the Need for Speed Scion tC2 time attack car is finally up and running. But Chris Rado will go into more detail about this car in his upcoming blog. This past weekend I had a chance to follow the antics of Christian Rado as he continued his quest of setting lap records all across the United States. It amazes me everytime when I see the process the World Racing team has to go through just to produce one fast lap. It is warranted because in the sport of Time Attack, one lap is all that matters. Global Time Attack has one goal in mind, setting records at tracks around the United States. That is exactly why drivers like Jeff Westphal and Chris Rado support the series. This is the brand new time attack creation from the nutty minds of the World Racing laboratory. It still has a long ways to go before it can set some lap records but it is starting to look the part quite nicely. Everything is designed from the ground up for ease of use and reliability. It looks mean as hell under the hood but car still needs a transmission and the wiring needs to be finished. The team works on it when they have the chance in between running the TC1 at events. What's up Speedhunters! This past weekend WORLD Racing played double duty and brought home two wins at NASA and the Global Time Attack opener at Willow Springs. If you've followed my editorials over the past couple of months, you'll know that I've had my hands full directing some of the SHIFT2 UNLEASHED videos. Over the past few weeks I've been working closely with Chris Rado and Jon West on this particular video, which focuses on corners. Back in September, the guys from WORLD Racing took the Team Need for Speed AWD Scion tC out to Miller Motorsports Park in Utah for a hot lap and recorded a time of 1:59.
The car seems like it hauls all sorts of rear-end and sounds amazing. We're very much looking forward to see what the car will do this year.

After missing Tuesday’s practice session due to the team battling ignition issues I was happy that the team and I were even at the event and ready to race with all the gremlins we were faced with. It's been a while since we've last seen or heard anything about Chris Rado's Team Need for Speed AWD Scion TC. The car campaigned on the East Coast during the late summer and early fall. And this past Wednesday, the car was once again out on track shaking down during this year's Super Lap Battle at Buttonwillow. Are you still happily reading through our SEMA coverage? Such is the scale of SEMA, it literally takes three of us to showcase all of the possible content. I'd also say that the various Speedhunters have slightly different point of views when it comes to our vision of automobile design and car culture. It seems that each racing series has its era of craziness. Rally had Group B, Formula 1 had the crazy turbocharged era of 80s, and now, the realm of time attack is the place to be if you're a nutter. Unlimited Class Racing ... what image springs to mind when I mention these words? Older people in the Speedhunters audience will likely think back to the glorious Can Am era; a fearsome class of racing cars from the 60s and early 70s which saw the fastest race cars on the planet governed by next-to-no rules. Last week I headed over to the World Racing shop in Torrance to check with in the guys as they readied Chris Rado's time attack Scion tC for the upcoming season. It turned out the car would actually be seeing some dyno time that day, so the scheduling had worked out perfectly....
