Even if you don't approve the engine under the hood, you have to admit to yourself that this car is seriously sexy. If you've seen the movie "Lost in Translation," there's a part when actress, Scarlett Johansson, is pracing around her hotel room in her panties. That was a moment of the purist form of falling in love. That same feeling applies to this very car. Head to the desktops section experience such love on your desktop! -Linhbergh Nguyen Special April Drift Features on...

Wow, I can't believe we are already at the end of drift month. Here's a proper desktop wallpaper to close out the month - Yukio Matsui's JZA80 Toyota Supra at Tsukuba Circuit. This Celica-faced Supra can be seen in both D1 Street Legal and the MSC series, which Yukio won last year with this car. Widescreen and standard versions available now in the Speedhunters Desktops section.

Most of us are familiar with the infamous Driftworks 2JZ-GTE powered S15 , but some of you may not be aware of the other 'Nisyota' from the Driftworks stable. For 2009, the car will be driven by Ben 'Bon Bon' Broke-Smith, who piloted the Driftworks JZX81 Chaser to EDC glory in 2008. Bon will be competing the R32 in the newly created Prodrift Super Series, with rounds in both the UK & Ireland. The car was imported into the UK by Driftworks co-founder James Robinson in 2004 and...

Darkness still blankets the world when you wake up and get out of bed. The minute that your toes touch the floor, you're wide awake. There's no sensation of grogginess or tiredness. As you wipe your eyes, the thought of how the rest of the world still sleeping at this very moment flashes through your mind. It makes you smile, and you quickly get dressed. The attire does not matter since your destination does not require for your pre-dawn fashion senses to awaken just yet. As you step outside...

A nice look back at the days of wheels no larger than 15 or 16 inches and horsepower numbers no higher than 200. Look closely and you'll even see a guy out there with a brand new R33 Skyline.

Take a moment to gander at the utter ridiculousness of this car. It is stupid slammed, it is has a set of absurdly vulgar wheels, an equally ludicrous body kit on it, and on top of all that, an absolutely silly gold flake paint job. This Nissan 240sx, in all conventional wisdom, makes absolutely no sense and should never have been crafted. It is not a normal car, this is a ricer's car. Tommy Roberts, the owner, and creator of such rock star stupidity, is a true ricer. But, you know what? This...

We got some requests from the Wall Rubbin' post for some more shots of the car, so thought it would be cool to pull Martin and the car aside for a quick spotlight ! The car is Martins T-Car, that is, it's his backup car whilst the Altezza is being completed. It's the same S14 you may remember from last year but with some minor and even major differences. The front bumper is Works 9, matched up with some URAS sideskirts and rear bumper. The rear wing is a custom buit Wexican Motorsport...

Hmmm. I think I'll just go ahead and let that lead photo speak for itself.
These pictures were taken at a drift practice event in Hungary by a photographer named Kristof Kiraly, and they make a fine addition to the international drift coverage we've been running this month.
What caught my eye first is of course this E30 BMW 3-series that's been converted into a pickup truck. ...

No doubt you've already seen plenty of photos of Vaughn Gittin Jr.'s 2010 Ford Mustang competition drift car, but I thought could add a bit American flavor to our drifting features this month with a closer look at this unique beast. After being teased by videos earlier in the year, I couldn't wait to finally see this car in person during the Formula D Long Beach event earlier this month. The first exposure I got with the car was when JR took it out for practice on Friday morning. While drifting, the car moves more like an AE86 or Silvia than a V8-powered muscle car....

The colours you see are more commonly found on a Ford WRC car, or on one of many of Eddie Stobarts haulage trucks. But for 2009, Japspeed, Stobart and Maxxis Tyres have come together to prepare this Silvia S15. The car is driven by Irishman Shane Lynch and will compete in the British Drifting Championship and the Prodrift Super Series. However, what is amazing is that not only have Japspeed prepared this car ... ... But they have prepared it's identical twin which will be piloted by another Japspeed...

Since it's drifting month, I've been spending a lot of time hunting through the photos on my hard drive looking for interesting drift material to post. Scrolling through the thousands of pictures I have, I noticed the incredible variety between the colors of each car. Since it's such a visual motorsport, the color of the cars plays an important role in the overall impact of drifting. In fact, I'd say that the paint designs on drift cars are much closer to hot rods than they are to race cars in terms of creativity.
This got me thinking, why not do a post showcasing drift cars of the same color? In this case I chose the color green because there seems to be a high number of cool looking drift cars coated in various shades of green. I will consider this green post my late earth day contribution.
Or maybe I'll just consider it an excuse to post more cool drifting photos......

Rain and lots of it. That is what greeted the packed out Ennis venue, where the first round of the 2009 Irish Prodrift Series took place. The inaugural round of 2009 saw rain fall on both days but heaviest on the Sunday main event. The Saturday stage of the event now hosts the qualifying session for the Pro Class for the Top 16 battles and in it's place on the Sunday is the all new Prodrift Super Lap. The Top 16 qualifiers from Saturday go through to the PD Superlap on Sunday. In order of 1,...

Ok Folks, it's Show Time again. The 2009 Need For Speed European Drift Championship kicked off at Oulton Park on Saturday. As everyone who reads a paper or watches the news or checks their bank balance knows, things are tough financially out there. No question about it. Even drifting is not immune to the problems raised by the current circumstances but as has been said before we Speedhunters are glass half full people. So yes the numbers were well down on 2008. Some of that is down to the economy...

Speedhunters endorsed Martin Ffrench returned to the Irish drifting scene today and nailed a perfect run to earn him number one qualifier going into tomorrows Top 16 battles of the first round of the 2009 Irish Prodrift Series. With runs as tight as this, it's not difficult to see why ! Some more coverage on Driftworks Full event coverage coming soon on Speedhunters.com !

As you've probably seen, the vast majority of my drift photo archive comes from events in Japan. Before I left for Japan though, I had the opportunity to attend what is probably the best grassroots drift event held in the United States - the Ziptied All Star Bash. Brian "BH" Harte had the idea to make a two-day event that celebrated the style, fun, and camaraderie of drifting instead over the "serious" stuff you see at other events. At this time I was still getting a grasp on photography, but once I saw Brian's exquisitely handcrafted MS Paint posters for the event, I knew I had to be there. With it being drift month and all, I figured it's the perfect time to take a look back at this historic event that was held in the summer of 2007. ...

Last weekend while we were in Long Beach for the ALMS race, I also managed to catch a bit of the Formula D team drift events that were happening during the LBGP. We had just been to the main Formula D event the week before, but it was quite interesting to look at the differences between the two events. One of the things that I liked about the team drifting is that the drivers were basically given free reign to drift the entire Long Beach street course, instead of just the section that was used for the FD event....

The Speedhunters mailbox is always full of emails showing interesting cars and automotive happenings from around the world, and although we'd like to post everything we get, it's just not possible. With April's theme being drifting, we have been keeping a special eye out for drift related material and we have been getting plenty. One of the emails we got this month was from Giedrius Meskauskas, who's a member of Lithuania's first drift organization, Drifter.lt . Gledrius sent some photos and info about the cars in the team, and we thought you guys might enjoy this little glimpse into Lithuanian drifting....

Inspired by yesterday's strange drift car gallery, here's a video clip of a drifting kei truck.
Not only does it look cool, but it sounds pretty nice as well....
