New Zealand once again delivers the goods. This shot was taken by Joseph Curphey at a recent Hampton Downs drift day.

We've featured quite a few reader-owned FC RX7's this month haven't we? Here's one more, owned by George who represents the great state of Arizona.
Somehow when I see this car, I get the feeling that if Nakai-san of Rauh Welt had an FC, it'd look something like this.
That's never a bad thing.

What happens when you combine the drive train from a F20C with an EG Civic? A little drift gem of a vehicle!
Tx to ehormillo for the tip!

Slava hails from the great state of Colorado and comes to us with a simple request - to help him fire up Colorado's drifting community.
In his words -
"So the drift scene here in Colorado is starting to die off. Me and a few others are trying to keep people excited about this s___ again so we can all have more than two events a year. A lot of people are quiting for whatever reason and less drivers just means that we cant hold as many events because of lack of moneys. Posting some of CO's hard hitters might help get people excited about drifting in Colorado again just from seeing us on Speedhunters" ...

Hi folks,
Maybe you want to hear the story about a little Camaro driver…
After I got my license in 2001 and after a long time of searching I found my first automobile love, a Chevrolet Camaro RS with a 5L 170HP V8 built in 1990.
So in 2002 everything began. I started reading a lot of message boards, magazines and tuning books to suck in all the information I could get. After starting as a complete greenhorn I began to understand how a car works and what I have to do to make my car faster.

Laurence from Japan sent us this great little film about extending the life of a drift car's bumper. The clip is part of the Phat Sliggity DVD.
Enjoy!

Everybody knows that drifting is not all about going sideways, there is also a element of being different. Remember the Samurai drifter? Or Paul Vlasblom and his BMW touring. But when I got an email with this picture attached, I didn't realized at first this was a drift car. So it certainly is different but can it drift? . The base car is 1940 Chevy Coupe, the owner Karl Ebel bought it 10 years ago. The plan was to build it as a traditional hot rod but after Karl became more involved in Motorsport...

Andrew from Motive DVD sent us some full-length video clips shot both in Japan and in Australia, and one of my favorites was this one featuring some late night street drift with the infamous Team BURST.
Check the clip to see some of Kansai's best tearing it up on snow-lined roads.

After spending some time in Ebisu circuit the other day shooting some drift cars I realized the lack of drift events in this "off-season" is getting to me. I always complain I cover too much drifting during the year but I'm experiencing some rubber-smoke withdrawal symptoms. So I thought it would be a good time to take a look at the other GX71 I spotted a Nikko at the end of November. This old-school Chaser was parked next to the Cresta in the paddock and simply looked sensational slammed...

It's always interesting to see how passion can push people to create very unique cars, and this Miata from Italy is the perfect example. The owner and avid reader of Speedhunters, Filippo Pirini, has been working on his little Mazda for 3 years and plans to have the car ready in the next year or so. Filippo will compete in one of the Italian drift championships so has carefully chosen every modification to help him create a nice set-up for drifting. The NB was stripped down and stiffened up thanks...

How many times you have been to a go-kart track and thought to yourself, "man, if I could somehow get my full size car onto this track, that'd be the funnest thing in the world". Well that's just what you can do every Thursday night at Adams Motorsports Park in Riverside, California. Most SoCal people should be familiar with drift night at Adams, but it wasn't until last Thursday that I was able to get out to Riverside and see it for myself....

Yesterday we got an email from New Zealand photographer Roo Wills who wanted to share some photos of a drift day held over the weekend at Taupo Motorsport Park. NZ is quickly getting the reputation for having some of the world's best grassroots drift cars, so we couldn't resist the opportunity to post up some of Roo's shots for you guys to enjoy....

There are some cars that grab your attention on the track, and then you might even be lucky enough to experience that 5, maybe 10 minutes of that same car on the street. Not often does it happen in Australia due to the laws and tightness of police. After seeing this machine out on track in action a week prior to this shoot, it rushed through my skull that It would be ideal to shoot it. WIth a camera of course... I think everyone on the world wide web should enjoy a bit of Australia's local drift...

I know a lot of our American readers are probably staring at the clock right now, counting down the minutes until the start of the holiday weekend. To help pass the time a little faster, here's my final bit of coverage from the Formula Drift Pro Am Nationals at Irwindale. Up above you can see Texan Stewart Leask preparing for a run in his LS1-powered S13. Ahhh...There's just something about a Japanese-styled S13 mixed with the rumble of an American V8....

Those of you who've been following our coverage from the recent Pro-Am Nationals at Irwindale Speedway will have noticed that Canadian Ian Fournier took the overall spoils at the wheel of his four door ER32 Skyline. Although this type of car is a fairly common site at drifting events in Japan, it's rarely seen in North America. And this points to an element which differenciates the Canadian Japanese car scene from its American equivalent. Fresh-off-the-boat imported machines are quite plentiful...

Now to continue where I left off yesterday with some more coverage from the Formula Drift Pro Am Nationals, held over the weekend at Irwindale Speedway. In the opening shot we see Washington's Nikolay Konstantinov and midwest driver Derek King performing one of the day's closest tandem runs during morning practice. Typically the cars in pro-am tandem aren't as close together as the pros, but we saw some very close runs on Saturday....

We've been running a lot of vintage Japanese car material this week, so I thought I'd add a high res wallpaper of the much-requested Hakosuka drift photo I snapped last year. Widescreen and standard versions available now in the Desktops section. Enjoy, and have a good weekend everyone! -Mike Garrett

Yesterday we took a look at a custom '67 Camaro from Japan, and now it's time to look at another SEMA Camaro of slightly different type - the Grunewald Racing drift Camaro. It was only a matter of time before someone took to drifting the big Chevy, and Conrad Grunewald will be doing just that next year in Formula Drift. The car was built by a shop called BR Racing, and by all appearances it looked ready for action at SEMA. This thing is far the from the mock-up that most "new" drift cars start as....
