One of the - many - great things about working for Speedhunters is we can justify hours and hours of random internet browsing and YouTube videos as 'research'. For a change, my 'research' actually turned something up in the shape of this Ford Escort MKI which is currently being rebuilt in the UK. Billy Sutton (user driftescort on the Driftworks forums) recently unveiled the progress being made on his dream build. Just want to say a big thanks to Billy for letting me use his photos...

When documenting the Driftworks / Trackculture HQ recently, I stumbled upon Phil's (Yes he has far too many cool cars for one man and yes, he should definitely give me one) other project - this simple but rather beautiful '86. The interior has been stripped with the addition of a cage, a Nardi wheel and a pair of Trackculture seats. The dash has also been flocked. The shell has been spot welded for added rigidity and is running on some HSD coilovers. The party piece is however the 20v 4A...

Building an aggressive street car nearly always involves making some sort of compromise along the way. As much as we would all like to think we could live with a stripped and caged daily driver, we all know that the reality would quickly wear thin. Especially in our modern motoring world where it would seem that every government is doing their utmost to remove the joy of driving from us. When Phil Morrison bought this E46 M3 as a daily driver he wanted to keep things simple and civilized. But when...

At this stage, anyone with an even passing interest in drifting will know the name Driftworks. Their 700+BHP 2JZ powered S15 is recognised around the world, their website is one of the most active drifting website's on earth but none of this was achieved overnight. I remember first joining the Driftworks forum back in 2004 when it was still in its relative infancy. I don't think anyone at the time could have ever guessed just how big they would become. What started as a backroom operation...

To say it has been just a bit busy here at Speedhunters towers these last few weeks would be a bit of an understatement. Trying to get through so many high quality events in quick succession, comprehend them and then try and accurately portray them is quite a challenge. Take Awesomefest for example; an automotive culture get together, the likes of which I've never seen before. By combining several different sports and hobbies which all relate to each other, a recipe was in place for an event...

We are now mid-season in the UK Drifting calender. With the competition hotting up and stress levels rising, a mid-season break was just what the the UK drift community needed, enter Awesomefest! This is the first time an event of this kind has been hosted in the UK. A weekend dedicated to drifting, motocross, BMX, skate, music and errrr, beards. No competition, no egos, just get out there and enjoy what you love doing! A massive ramp park had been erected in Mallory's paddock area. Open to both...

The guys at Track Culture (the grip division of Driftworks) got their M5 V10 powered BMW E46 M3 working and decided to give it a spin outside their office. But the best thing is that they didn't only take this one picture but also made a small video for us all to enjoy. I really hope to see this car on the Nürburgring this year ! -Jeroen Willemsen

I attended the final round of the Scandinavian Drift Series held at Sturup Raceway, where I came across this car. It's driven by Petter Eriksen from Norway who won the Pro-Am class that round. This is the same car that Phil Morrison used to own. It gets funnier when you look over at Driftworks, they did not know where the car ended up!
The V8 sound is from the chase car, a Porsche Cayenne.

It's been an extraordinary 2010 BDC season. Four rounds had passed and with four different winners it meant that the overall title could mathematically be taken by one of five drivers. Phil Morrison, Danny Eyles, Simon Perry, Mark Luney and Shane Lynch were all in contention for the title at the final showdown at the stunning Knockhill circuit. Fast, technical and set against the stunning Scottish scenery, Knockhill is a unique venue on the UK drift calendar. Starting with a 100MPH leap of faith...

If you already own one of the most extreme build drift S15's on the planet, what kind of car you would drive on a daily basis? It is the same question that Phil Morrison had to answer, in the end he chose this BMW E46 M3. It isn't the most modified M3 out there but it will surely turn some heads with its Eissenmann exhaust. The CSL bootlid is very popular amongst the BMW enthusiasts, this version is entirely made out of carbon to save extra weight. You also see the four exhaust tips from...

Every once and I while I like to peruse the "Picture of the Day" thread on the Driftworks forum ... You'll always see cool cars in this thread, from all corners of the globe... normally the subject is drifting, but occasionally other gems will pop up from time to time like this electric blue Evo. The URL you see on the right side of the photo points to a Finnish Photographer's website by the name of Sebastian Ratu, so I can only assume this car is run out of Finland. Sebastian Ratu...

From the super fast sweeping turns of Brands Hatch to the tight and technical custom made Santapod track, round 5 of the NFS-EDC championship could not be more different to all of the previous rounds. 8am and the British summer time played its trump card and delivered a mix of drizzle and heavy showers of rain making conditions a little tricky. Designed by head judge Maz the track consisted of a fast sweeping righthander forcing the drivers out to the wall for the following hairpin then into a technical...

For my first post on Speedhunters, I thought i'd take a quick look behind the scenes at NFS-EDC round 1. The paddock always has a relaxed atmosphere with all the drivers more than happy to talk to fans and Outon Park was no exception....

Most of us are familiar with the infamous Driftworks 2JZ-GTE powered S15 , but some of you may not be aware of the other 'Nisyota' from the Driftworks stable. For 2009, the car will be driven by Ben 'Bon Bon' Broke-Smith, who piloted the Driftworks JZX81 Chaser to EDC glory in 2008. Bon will be competing the R32 in the newly created Prodrift Super Series, with rounds in both the UK & Ireland. The car was imported into the UK by Driftworks co-founder James Robinson in 2004 and...

Ok Folks, it's Show Time again. The 2009 Need For Speed European Drift Championship kicked off at Oulton Park on Saturday. As everyone who reads a paper or watches the news or checks their bank balance knows, things are tough financially out there. No question about it. Even drifting is not immune to the problems raised by the current circumstances but as has been said before we Speedhunters are glass half full people. So yes the numbers were well down on 2008. Some of that is down to the economy...

It would seem that for every year that passes that the Irish & UK drifting scene always surpasses itself. Since the first pair of tires were burnt in anger back in 2001, the scene here has expanded into something beyond what any of us could of imagined. Although we may not have factory backed teams like in the USA, it would appear that it is only a matter of time before we are on a similar playing field with our American cousins. For 2009, Prodrift have teamed up with UK series BDC to bring us...

The Driftworks S15 has been overhauled for the 2009 drift season. The most obvious change is the new color, but the engine has also been tweaked and now it delivers 666.4 bhp. You can check out more pictures here on the Driftworks forum. You can also check out our previous feature on the car that John Brooks made in November last year. -Jeroen Willemsen

They say that racing improves the breed, they also say that win on Sunday, sell on Monday. Both are clichés but contain more than a grain of truth. And that truth provides the motivation for the Driftworks Company to showcase the products available at their on line store. Of course having a bit of fun along the way also plays a part too, as Phil Morrison admitted to me. Driftworks was set up nearly 5 years ago and provides a top quality parts services to all levels of the drifting community...
