Let's start with part two of my coverage of the Streetpower event at Zandvoort. I couldn't resist starting with the Bonder E36 by DBM Engineering. It certainly is one of the most extreme BMW's I have seen in a while. It even managed to set the second fastest time of the day with 1:50.063. Here's another car built and maintained by the guys from Jeroentje.nl . This time a R33 GTS-T with a RB25 engine that has been rated around 325bhp. It seems like fluorescent colors were hot during...

It's been too long! I miss you guys... sniff sniff. Life has been busy, lets just say that. However, I DID finally get some major progress done on the car in Jan/Feb. Back in January after I finished most of the prep on the body shell, my buddy Colin Jensan came by my shop and schooled me on the ways of MIG welding. I haven't done any welding since high school, and even then, my experience is very limited. Armed with a small Lincoln Weldpak MIG machine I went to town on the chassis stitch...

We've featured quite a few reader-owned FC RX7's this month haven't we? Here's one more, owned by George who represents the great state of Arizona. Somehow when I see this car, I get the feeling that if Nakai-san of Rauh Welt had an FC, it'd look something like this. That's never a bad thing. -Mike Garrett...

This past weekend was quite the automotive odyssey. I spent two days at Willow Springs International Raceway and a day at Buttonwillow Racetrack for Hellaflush 3.5. While at Willow Springs on Saturday, I spotted this very clean example of a drift FC RX-7 at an event on the balcony skid pad. Who knows how long it'll last being that clean, but the deep red + white Enkei RPF-1 wheels is a classic color combination and just looks fantastic! Coverage from Hellaflush 3.5 at Buttonwillow is coming very...

Hello fellow SpeedHunters, My name is Peter Tarach and I’m the editor of Modified Magazine. I, like most of you have been following this site since its inception and it has quickly become my go to site for everything that is cars, culture, and events. I literally check the SpeedHunters site every morning. That’s why I got together with Rod and we talked about a collaboration between us. Over the course of the next year, I'm going to preview for the SpeedHunters audience what I'm...

Slava hails from the great state of Colorado and comes to us with a simple request - to help him fire up Colorado's drifting community. In his words - "So the drift scene here in Colorado is starting to die off. Me and a few others are trying to keep people excited about this s___ again so we can all have more than two events a year. A lot of people are quiting for whatever reason and less drivers just means that we cant hold as many events because of lack of moneys. Posting some of CO's hard hitters might help get people excited about drifting in Colorado again just from seeing us on Speedhunters" ...

1.9? Why 1.9? Well I haven't got as much done as I'd like to have, but am still making progress, and am making progress in the planning stages as well. I've been busy prepping the car for a LOT of work in the coming months. Its pretty boring stuff at this stage, so don't say I didn't warn you. I spent almost 2 days crouched inside this beast removing that damn sound deadening. I used chunks of dry ice for the first pass (looked like an old high-school dance in my shop with the...

Its been too long since I posted that teaser, but check it out! I'm pretty stoked to be able to see a glimpse of what my project will look like when its done (next year). Here's where the nerd in me comes out, I mocked up this shot of the car in a windtunnel, not that it'll ever see one I'm sure, but a cool image regardless. There is a good chance I'll be doing some CFD tests with this car though, testing out various diffuser, canard, and wing set-ups. For the sake of these concept...

As we got ready to start the Speedhunters coverage of Bonneville Speed Week I was silently hoping there was going to be a Japanese campaign at the event. The legendary Japanese tuning shop Jun Auto's Bonneville runs are now the stuff of legends, and I was praying we'd be able to find something similar to document at Speed Week. However, when I looked at the Bonneville entry list there were no Japanese teams listed... the closest thing to an Asian based team was an entry lodged from Singapore...

Here's a great shot of the Dandy RX7 disappearing into the heat haze at Bonneville last week... It looks fantastic as a high rez desktop photograph... BTW The team tells me that the car managed to hit 230 mph on Friday... that's pretty crazy!... You know where to get it yes? :R

You know, I get the sense the Bonneville car builders are all closet inventors; each with their own home brewed speed secrets learned from many years or even decades of running on the salt. For these constructors there are no boundaries... the only limit to a build is their own imagination... At Bonneville it often seems like the crazier the design and the more outlandish a engine transplant, the better. So whenever I came across a rear wheel drive Japanese car at Bonneville, I was usually expecting...

I've asked myself this question a few times in the past couple days, 'what have I got myself into?!?' Or, 'I sold my Cobra for this?' You might remember my post from a few weeks ago when I sold my FFR. A little scary to dive into such a big project, but man am I looking forward to it! I picked up an '88 RX-7 the other day for $200, basically bought it for the shell only, as most of the parts aren't pristine, as I'm sure you can tell. The owner had it sitting 20 feet...

No particular rhyme or reason for this one, just a clean Ibaraki-based FC3S RX7 I spotted at Tsukuba Circuit a while back. The blue BN Sports-equipped body mixes nicely with the staggered neon yellow Gramlights 57D's, and the owner also get bonus points for street-driving on this stance. -Mike Garrett ...

Over the next few weeks, as everyone anxiously awaits the start of the racing season, lots of car builders from all over are preparing their new cars. While this particular car is not intended for professional drifting use, I thought I'd just show some snaps of this Mazda FC3S truck that's being built at JTP Motorsports, the garage of Formula D FC3S driver Justin Pawlak . While we have shown you other FC3S trucks on Speedhunters previously, this particular FC3S truck is a bit different because...

I don't have much information on this car, but it's a pretty rad looking build for a tin top race car. All the front subframe is aluminum, and it all looks hand fabricated too. Anyone else have any more information on this car? - Carl Jarrett

I just wanted to post up some quick snaps of this car... when I spotted it, parked quietly in the back corner of the highly restricted access race car dungeon that lies underneath one of Mazda R&D facility, I couldn't quite make out what kind of car this was... however, if you look more closely, examining the hood, the bumper vents, and the roofline, you'll notice that this car is an FC3S RX7 Turbo II. I didn't have much information on this FC, but was told that apparently this car...
