From rotaries we move onto some S-chassis, but since there weren't that many this year I've decided to combine Fairlady Zs to the post too, once again an all-Nissan selection! We start off with the R.Y.O. S13 "Odyvia" which I already ran a spotlight on back in October , when I first laid eyes on it at the D1 final in Fuji. It's as wild looking from every angle and proof that things down in the south of Japan are done a little differently. You can always expect to find nice rides...

There was one final car that I managed to shoot after the Hellaflush Japan event earlier this month at Fuji Speedway. I purposely didn't post many pictures of it in the main event coverage as I wanted to put a more detailed feature together. Star Road is a respected restorer and tuner based in Tokyo, dealing in all sorts of Japanese classics but specializing in Skylines and Fairladies. This S30 is their latest creation, barely finished before it was taken to the event at Fuji, and not surprisingly...

It's over to Fuji Speedway once again as we dive deeper into the Nismo Festival coverage, an event that has become nothing short of legendary over the last decade. While the Z Challenge guys were out on track doing their thing, I grabbed the opportunity to check out what was lurking down in the pits and run across this evil looking Z33, Nismo's old GT-500 development car. You just got to love race cars running virtually no livery! A few pits up from the Z33 I run a across a crowd favorite...

Time to head back to Sodegaura Forest Raceway now for one final look at the TA Auto classic car soukoukai . One thing I noticed on the day was that most of these cars are driven by young people, or at least younger than most would assume. I can totally understand the appeal of owning one of these vintage rides but I also know it's neither cheap nor simple. Nonetheless, these guys take out their treasures regularly and give them a good workout on track. The CSP311 Silvia is a car you just don't...

This past Sunday I was up at 4 am to shoot a car on location at a nice little spot across the Tokyo Bay, in Kisarazu. Getting up at such an ungodly hour on a weekend can be very difficult, but on the upside it means I can be done by mid-morning, giving me a chance to enjoy the rest of the day. Most people would probably head back home to relax or spend time with the family but with Sodegaura Forest Raceway 20 minutes from where I was shooting I decided to drop by and check out an event I had heard...

I'm very happy to see that so many readers are appreciating cars like this. I had the guys at OS Giken yesterday tell me how hits to tomitaku.com have skyrocketed over the last two days. Tomimatsu-san is very happy. Here is a desktop of the first shot for you all to enjoy. Head to the desktop section to download it. -Dino Dalle Carbonare

After checking out the Office Tomitaku S30 Fairlday Z I thought it would be hard to comprehend the car fully without seeing it in action, but most of all hearing that OS-Giken tuned motor scream. Turn those speakers up and hit play!

With this month being dedicated to builds and previews there is one place I knew I had to visit for you guys. You wouldn't be able to find it if you tried, nestled deep in the Chiba-ken countryside, a stone-throw away from the new Sodegaura Forest Raceway. This is where magic happens, you feel it the instant you set foot inside one of the garages where restoration projects are underway. Thanks to people like Ando-san rare Japanese classics are brought back to life here, often starting off from...

I had one of the best experiences of my life the other week. It all happened on a very cold, very wet Monday morning at the recently opened S odegaura Forest Raceway , a short 45 min drive from Tokyo. The idea was to meet up with revered Fairlady Z restorer Ando-san of TA-Auto to shoot a couple of his latest creations, one of which was this beautiful maroon HS30 240ZG. The 240ZG was built in 1971 to homologate the S30 for Group 4 racing and was only sold in Japan. The car differed from regular Z's...

Our friends at 7Tune have posted a ton of new info about the upcoming Nissan Fairlady Z34 AKA 370Z. According to Best Car magazine, the new Z may be getting a high performance version powered by one of Nissan's V8 engines. A factory V8-powered Z? It seems surprising at first, but when you think of all the platform sharing that goes on at Nissan its not terribly hard to fetch. This high performance version of the Z may also have a unique front fascia that pays homage to the "G-nose" that was found on the the original S30Z. The G-nose would match up quite well with the new Z's retro inspired styling. Even in more basic form, it appears that the Z34 will be quite a machine as the 3.7L V6 found in the Skyline Coupe/Infinti G37 is already a very potent unit. Combined with the rumored weight savings of the new Z, this car looks to have very high performance potential......
