Those of you who are "friends" with me on Facebook will know that last week Speedhunter's editor Riley Vigier and I were crunching to finishing up two videos for the 2009 SEMA Show. You've already seen our tribute to the new Formula D champion Chris Forsberg, and here's our second year end video offering: Falkenhunting 2009. A new Speedhunters film which debuted at Falken's SEMA booth on Tuesday. It covers our season long collaboration with the Team Falken drift family....

I have been lucky enough to be involved in Irish drifting from pretty much the beginning. This means that I have been even luckier to watch the rise of some of the best drifters to emerge from this green isle. For drivers month I'm going to be preparing two stories for you all to read. The first of which is the story of a man who surely needs little introduction; Darren McNamara ... Going back to 2004, I got to cover my first ever drift event. Armed with a Fuji 'point & shoot' camera...

Our friends at Formula D just dropped us a note to remind US viewers that TV coverage of the 2009 championship is about to start this Sunday on the Versus channel. Broadcast in HD, the program promises to show all the behind-the-scenes action from what is proving to be an epic season of American professional drifting. The now classic Ueo/Tuerk bunnyhop incident featured in this video will be but one of many dramas to unfold in the fourteen episodes set to broadcast every Sunday at 2 PM (EST) or 11 AM (PST). I don't own a television myself, but I'll be looking to get my hands on the shows somehow!

Ever wonder what it would be like to ride along with Vaughn Gittin JR in his 2010 Falken Tire Mustang, during Formula D practice? Or better yet... what would it be like to drive his car in a tandem battle against Darren McNamara, at Road Atlanta? With this Speedhunters extended remix of the JR Need for Speed Driver's Experience film we've dumped the cinematic art montages and have gone for a pure visceral experience. It's the opposite effect to the kind of video we've made for the...

Ok let's jump out of the BMW and the Scion into quite a different car now.... the Falken Tire 2010 Ford Mustang as driven by Mr Vaughn Gittin Jr... A young man who needs no introduction. As we virtually ride along with each of these drivers, I'm sure you'll pick up the vibe that drifting the Mustang appears to be a very different discipline to the grip action we previously featured with Milner and Rado. Rather than an all out pursuit of speed, Gittin is pushing himself and his machine...

My name is Gabriel Tan, I am born and raised in Singapore, having followed the local performance car scene over the years, aided by the fact that my dad used to run a car repair shop. Singapore's tuning scene is very active, with many garages and outstanding modified machines as well as an abundance of exotic supercars including the R35. I think Singapore probably has the highest density of R35s in the world. The new GTR isn’t an official import for Singapore but given our proximity to...

When we launched Speedhunters.com just over a year ago we had two types of videos in production: Slo-Mo Moments and Car Tours. This worked well for a while, but soon it became time to switch things up. We moved on to creating Montage Videos which set racing action against scored music beds. This again was a good thing as we ended up making some pretty cool videos last year especially our Ebisu Drift , MSC , Team Orange and the Spa FIA GT Videos. This particular video started out as a Long Beach Formula...

Normally, when I go to automotive events, I have a few different reasons for attending. I'm there as a Speedhunters correspondent with camera in hand, ready to photograph any details that catch my eye. I also often travel with a video camera to collect footage for the various Speedhunters and NFS film projects we're developing. And, finally, I am also at events like Formula D as a representative of the Need for Speed video game brand. This means that I'm often spending time behind the...

This past weekend was one of great fruition for the Falken Tire Drift Team. This is the group that got into drifting before D1GP ever graced the shores of America or Formula D was founded. These are the people who have supported North American drifting from day one and have stuck with it through and through. They aren't in it to "try out the youth market" or "reach a new demographic" and then abandon ship if if the direction of the wind shifts a few degrees. Not at all. Drifting...

The day before I was scheduled to fly from the west coast paradise that is Vancouver out to New Jersey, I had a look at the photographic equipment we have locked up in a storage room at the Need for Speed studio... To my surprise, I found a bunch of professional camera lenses stashed away in a knapsack... These lenses are normally used to capture gaming textures, but as of this weekend, have been appropriated for the purpose of international Speedhunting! :> With my new telephoto camera weapons...

Apparently things were pretty rainy today during Formula D practice and qualifying in New Jersey - rainy enough to postpone qualifying until tomorrow morning.
For now though, you can enjoy this fresh video featuring the Drift Alliance crew in action at Road Atlanta last month.

Take a moment to glance at this photo a little bit longer than you normally would have. Did you grip that mice a bit tighter? Or, did this photo somehow give you that edge-of-your-seat feeling? This photo holds a sense of absolute tension and drama. However, the drama does not originate from the MOPAR Viper, but instead from the photographers. Notice their body language. They've been anticipating the car to pass and this is the exact moment of release or, for some, at the apex of taking their...

Many of us would agree that the dramatic sideways courtship between two cars is one of most beautiful acts that the eye can witness. So, if you take the time to mentally step away from the fast paced nature of a professional drift event, you'll notice that this motorsport is an art form. This ballet-like spectacle touches every sense in your body; your sense of sound, sight, smell, and also your sense of touch. Even if you can't recognize the gargling from an angry two liter turbocharged...

I'm still in a "Long Beach State of Mind" as I prepare for tomorrow morning's trip back down to SoCal for the ALMS race at the Long Beach Grand Prix. Before I do that though, I'd like to finish our look at the competition from last weekend's Formula D Long Beach event. This time we'll start at the Great Eight, and move all the way to the final....

Alright then, let's jump straight into the next part of our coverage of the tandem competition at Formula D Long Beach - the Top 16. After a quick lunch break after Top 32 wrapped up, the next part of the event started off with introductions for the 16 remaining drivers who'd be competing against each other in the afternoon....

Boy I'm tired... I've been shooting photos non-stop since the Formula D event, and haven't had a moment to sit down to get any stories prepped for the site... Let's see here: on Sunday, Linhbergh and I went to El Mirage with the NFS Shelby Terlingua for an impromptu shoot, yesterday I shot at both the Twins Turbo and SO-CAL Speed Shops and then today it was a tour of Chris Rado's shop... Anyway, time to get some writing done before we get busy for the Long Beach GP setup. This...
