You will have to forgive us if we seem to be going a little 86/BRZ/FR-S crazy lately. But come on, we've been waiting so long, can you blame us? This latest post however is of the computer generated variety, a really impressive rendering made by Italian up and coming car designer Lorenzo Oujeili. Lorenzo has put some thought into what a possible 86-based drift car could look like. Check out the little details like the Volk Racing TE37 SLs, the reversed Speedhunters windscreen banner, Fatlace...

In front of a sell-out crowd, the Formula DRIFT drivers turned up the aggression dial for FD Monroe. With only a handful of rounds remaining and a close championship, it was clear that many of the drivers were taking a 'now or never' approach. And under perfect Washington skies, those who attended were given a great demonstration of pro-drifting. For those who weren't able to make it, here's our comprehensive report on the action that unfolded. ...

I say this all the time, but it really would be too easy if things went exactly the way it was planned. Formula Drift Round 4 in New Jersey had it's fair share of spills and thrills. There were thunderstorms, crashes, injures, big upsets and much much more. Conrad Grunewald looked out and wondered when the rain will stop while Tyler McQuarrie just laughs it off. Some of the storm was no laughing matter. The Need for Speed Activation booth turned into a giant sail. Formula Drift is sinking! Abandon...

Friday's qualifying day at Wall Stadium in New Jersey was a day filled with heat, excessive humidity, and something very, very unexpected. But for most of the day, everyone was treated to an overall gorgeous day filled with a sky full of clouds that required hunting. Will Roegge came out to test out his new toy, a 3D GoPro video system. I had a brief view of the results and I have to say that it's a very neat experience. The guys from Falken were having a viewing party for Larry Chen and...

I was looking forward to Round 3 of the Formula Drift Championship series as soon as I heard it was going to be held in Florida. It is refreshing to be able to shoot at a new track with new surroundings. The City of Palm beach is beautiful and the people were very nice to our little traveling circus. It really was the perfect host city. To top it off, most of the main competition was during sunset, which made for killer photos. This is a view from Jeff Jones' driver side mirror, going into turn...

In less than 48 hours, the judges' stand at Palm Beach International Raceway will be filled to the brim with anxious spotters, waiting on the decisions from three very critical judges. Calls will be made on qualifying runs that can make or break a driver's career as a pro drifter. No pressure at all really. - Larry Formula Drift Round 3

Hey Speedhunters what's up! Long time no talk. Happy to have the Formula Drift series back up and going again. I got a good chance at Long Beach to vent some built up aggression from doing nothing but working on my car for a month and a half....

Hello fellow Speedhunters! Last week we debuted the Team Need for Speed Scion tC at the Formula Drift season opener in Long Beach. I had been waiting for this event to come around for five months, and as we approached the first week of April I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve. So much had gone down during the so-called “off season” (I have an incredibly big stack of paperwork following this winter, haha!) and almost everything about this FD season was new to me. I have been given a simply...

The word "epic" is easily over used in today's society, and it has lost some meaning. However, when I say this event was "epic"..... I am really sincere about it. I actually felt bad for anyone who was following Rhys Millen. He made more smoke than anyone else, thanks to a wheel speed of 135mph going into turn ten of the street course. It was clear and sunny Friday morning, but as the day progressed, it rained. Luckily, it dried up before qualifying. Kyle Mohan put down epic...

In exactly seven days from now, we'll be down at the streets of Long Beach for the first round of 2011 Formula Drift season. As the offseason comes to a close, Formula D drivers are hard at work finishing up their cars for the opener. One of those drivers is Matt Powers. Our friends over at MotoIQ.com have been covering Matt's 2011 build in detail and we thought you guys might be interested to see how his car is progressing....

In my opinion, this has got to be one of the greatest function and form drift cars. I was hooked ever since Chris Forsberg started to blog about his M45 build. After a long off season, Chris finally debuted and tested this grocery getter drift car during XDC Round 1 at Irwindale Speedway. First time on course and Chris shoots cotton balls out the back of this beast. And yes, the Irwindale bank is THAT steep. It's Mr. Toad himself! And he's taking his friends for a wild ride. It looks like...

Fellow Automotive Artist Jon Sibal contacted me after we announced Fredric Aasbo was joining Team Need for Speed and Papadakis Racing for the 2011 Formula Drift Season. Readers may have noticed the Seibon bodykit Stephan Papadakis is using was originally designed by Jon and shown at SEMA. With the original artwork at hand, Jon has recreated our new Team Need for Speed livery with these amazing results. Jon’s render shows off the Matt Black and Rocket Red finish perfectly. Jon chose to use Black...

Dear fellow Speedhunters readers, I have some exciting news to announce. It's been 8 months in the making, and it has taken countless emails, phone conversations, long nights functioning in dual time zones and a handful trips traveling across the globe and back (although I’ve squeezed in some drifting in between)! In one way it's just over, and in another way it has just begun. Today, I have officially become a Team Need for Speed drift driver, and I’ll be driving the full 2011...

Our normal play-by-play Speedhunter at all Formula Drift events is Mike Garrett. He's made an art form out of posting up-to-the-minute reports straight from the track. This time, our dear artist-in-residence-as-photographer Linhbergh is filling in... we'll see how well he does! So who to fill in for Linhbergh then? Well who could be better than mister Driftfotos himself, Larry Chen. He's kindly just given us this desktop image from today's qualifying session. Enjoy!

Hello to all my fellow Speed Freaks, my name is Nate Hassler, I’m the associate editor at Modified Mag and recently I was given a unique and fantastic opportunity to follow and shadow the Gardella Racing team at Formula DRIFT: Throwdown at Evergreen Speedway. The crew of Gardella Racing is a small, tight knit group. Gary Gardella, the team owner, is a family man at heart, and he always takes time to speak to fans and spectators. Ryan Tuerck is very modest. With polite manners and a smile that...
