The Formula One season starts this weekend in Bahrain and given our F1 preview was so popular last year, it is time for Speedhunters bring you a brief preview for the 2010 season. Biggest changes surround World Champions, past and present. The 2009 World Drivers Champion, Jenson Button, left Brawn GP at the end of 2009 to join McLaren Mercedes, where Lewis Hamilton is firmly entrenched. It is going to be a challenge for Jenson to get into the tight McLaren-Hamilton relationship and beat Lewis…but...

Autosport is renowned for its Formula One coverage, some folks think that it follows this pinnacle to the exclusion of other branches of the sport. I suppose that the casual fans DO want to read about the expoits of Jenson and Lewis, plus it must be good for the bottom line. Certainly the company motto is "Follow The MONEY!" but if you want to know what is going on read it and the sister publication F1 Racing . So it was no surprise to see a display of current Grand Prix cars on their stand...

Bernard Charles Ecclestone.............OK most of you might have heard of him, he's that rich guy who effectively runs Formula One's business and has done for the past 35 years. The Brits amongst you might also know him as the Bad Guy who has made the British Racing Drivers' Club jump through hoops just to keep a British Grand Prix on the calendar and at Silverstone. Those who have to toil in the outdated facility might take a different view. Actually this only tells a small part of the...

Misfits and Mavericks? Sounds like most of us involved with SpeedHunters...............but it set me thinking and there at the top of the list was a man who died 28 years ago but whose legacy still shapes motorsport today. Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman founded Lotus Cars and ran a motorsport team like no other, a brilliant engineer and innovator, summed up by my old pal, Mike Lawrence in his biography of the man as A Wayward Genius. Chapman was an aeronautical engineer by training and used the theories...

Was it really more than 25 years ago? That first time I met the quiet, slight Brazilian with the burning intensity in his eyes? Thruxton, a ex-WW2 fighter base in Hampshire and although it is close to Stonehenge it is not generally regarded as a place of dreams or magic. It is almost always windy and usually cold too, oh and don't forget the rain. Its main virtue as far as I was concerned was that it was around an hour from home. Back then I was a camp follower to the British Formula Three scene...

We have posted a couple of Formula 1 articles this year, so I thought it would be a good time to bring Speedhunters up to date with the fantastic achievements of the Independents in Formula One. We have already had five rounds of the 2009 season, four 'fly-away' races and last weekends Spanish GP. Brawn GP’s Jenson Button has won four of the races, while Red Bull’s Sebastien Vettel won in China, Red Bull's first win. It’s a remarkable achievement for the two independent...

Our Formula One preview proved popular last month, so I thought I would share this cool image of Sebastian Vettel in the wet, on his way to winning his second F1 victory in the Chinese Grand Prix. Team mate, Mark Webber was 2nd. Vettel's first win was at the Italian Grand Prix last year, becoming the youngest ever winner at just 21 years old! Both races were wet races in which the German started from Pole Position. Quite an achievement. Vettel is unique in having scored Red Bull's first wins...

The 2009 Formula 1 World Championship kicks off this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. This has the potential to be one of the most open seasons ever, with new rules and regulations. A number of rules have been brought in, giving a Formula 1 car a different look. From the side, most of the aerodynamic aids have disappeared and the cars look much cleaner. However, wider front wings and narrower rear wings look out of place, even after 2 months of testing. The earlier Video post below goes into more...

Most film/car marketing tie-ins leave me cold. It is rarely done well. However, last weekend Toyota teamed up with Warner Bros to promote the forthcoming Batman film, 'The Dark Knight' and demonstrated the current 'Tumbler' Batmobile with the new Batpod and theToyota TF108 Formula 1 car. The images show the different scales off well. In my very humble opinion, the current Batmobile is one of the best versions that has been produced (the original 60's Lincoln Futura based machine...
