Let's start with part two of my coverage of the Streetpower event at Zandvoort. I couldn't resist starting with the Bonder E36 by DBM Engineering. It certainly is one of the most extreme BMW's I have seen in a while. It even managed to set the second fastest time of the day with 1:50.063. Here's another car built and maintained by the guys from Jeroentje.nl . This time a R33 GTS-T with a RB25 engine that has been rated around 325bhp. It seems like fluorescent colors were hot during...

Did any of you watch the F1 race today? I'm a bit irritated to be honest, as I think the new "no refueling" rules have really spoiled the show and made F1 even more processional than it already was. Ergh DISAPOINTED!!!... Anyway moving on, I wanted to share some photos with you that I took a few weeks back in the UK. All of you now know that the Top Secret Drag R II Skyline R33 is alive and well in the UK with its current caretakers: G Man and the Skyline specialist shop: TR Racing...

This R35 has undergone minimal modifications but has maximum presence. The car looks almost stock, but those small touches like the Hasemi carbon frontlip and and sideskirt (can I call it that?) make it stand out. After seeing this car I feel that a nice drop can make any car look good. The drop has been achieved with a Esprit Quantum coil over set. It's cool to see that the owner still maintained the original wheels, although he did use spacers to push the wheels out a bit more. Recognize the...

As the smoke, rubber, and acrid smell of straight pipe exhausts burn off from Skyline week, we present another Speedhunters first. Teamed up with YoParts, we’ll cover the GMG performance build of their R35 GT-R Street Machine. For anyone not aware, you will be able to win this amazing car! YoParts has created a pretty cool performance specification contest for their customers to participate in each step of the build; they’ll get access to specs, and be asked to calculate perf curves,...

After the R32s and the R33s it's now time for the R34, my favorite model. Once again I wanted to start with one of my personal favorites. I know that the R34 has been made with one thing in mind, performance. But these chrome Work Meister S1 wheels looks so good on this white R34. The black accents like the wingstays and the carbon spoiler on the trunk really make it pop. These wheels look huge from this angle. So maybe it's not the best performing car with these wheels but there is no denying...

Continuing on, here's a selection of R33 Skylines pulled from the archives of Speedhunters. From drift, to time attack, to drag they're all here.
On with the 33's!...

After the disappointment of not finding any cars at Daikoku Parking Area on Monday night (3-1) I was beginning to get the same feeling last night. I headed to the famed highway truck stop nice and early and again, there weren't any R32s to be seen. I thought then and there that this Skyline week wasn't as special as we had anticipated so I went into one of the small restaurants on the premises and cheered myself up with a steaming bowl of Daikoku Ramen (yes it's actually called that!...

The Yahoo auction site is a great resource for car pictures. One of the companies that tries to sell their inventory there is Global Auto and they have an excellent photographer. He takes pictures from every angle of the car so the buyer knows what he is in for. This gives us a great opportunity to see all the gorgeous cars they have for sale. They always have several heavily modified Skylines from all ages, but since today is March 2nd, we'll start with the R32. The one above is running on a...

Here's the second part of my Skyline retrospective from November '08.
Now we will continue our look back at the history of the Nissan Skyline from where we left off yesterday, with the R30 chassis. The R30 was released in 1981 and moved towards a more modern design than the C210 model. The coupe versions in particular were very good looking cars with a sleek, stretched out look. In Japan the R30 Skyline TV commercials featured legendary actor and driver Paul Newman, and there was even a special "Paul Newman version" of the car sold in Japan. The example in the photo above is the 1981 2000GT-ES coupe model, which was powered by the turbocharged L20ET engine. ...

Hello Sepeedhunters! My name is Samui Salokangas and I wanted to show you all my ongoing project which I've named "Skysuka." “Skysuka” is a tribute to Nissan Skyline racing history and the theme consists of two-tone retro-style paint with gold pinstripes and KGC10 Hakosuka-style racing graphics. It also has a few Ken & Mary logos and umbrellas as well. The number 46 on the front and sides comes from the car's year model, ´92 divided by two. Flat black, shiny...

Just found this picture of a not so standard looking KGC110 GT-R. It appears to have a side exit exhaust that could hint at something special under the bonnet. Other cool parts include the spoiler and Watanabe's with semi slick tires wrapped around them. I also like the fact that the owner has painted the arch extensions the same color as the body of the car. Normally you would see them in black, but this just shows that it can look cool when painted. -Jeroen Willemsen Spotted on Al's Car...

Anniversaries, even significant ones, can often times come and go unnoticed by husbands and boyfriends the world over - apparently there is something lodged in our brains that makes us forget these dates! In 2009 however, there was one date on the calendar that gave these unlucky lads cause to celebrate. See, a few months ago, two guys set out to organise a national cruise to honour the vehicles they love and cherish – the R34 GT-R. Terry Tung-yep and Eugene Chan had thought long and hard about...

Just found this shot I took the other month of one of Auto Bahn's most extreme time attach machines, a car owned by a loyal customer of theirs. This R32 Skyline GT-R runs some of the best components out there including a Hollinger sequential gearbox which helps shave precious time from gearshifts. Power is around the 700 HP, enough to guarantee 57-second laptimes at Tsukuba. For a street registered car that is beyond quick! While there, I also spotted another interesting machine that was being...

OK time for some Skyline and GT-R coverage from TAS, and not wanting to make a separate post on Fairladys I've decided to add them in here to create a nice line up of Rs & Zs! I have a lot of respect for Toyota's decision on making their future cars more exciting, but I can't hide the fact that my heart lies with Nissan, more specifically with the GT-R. There were a ton of great examples this year at TAS like the old Abflug BCNR33 demo car above in the center of the Option RB26 20th...

The Z-tune is without a doubt one of the best cars to ever come out of Japan. It's rarity and performance makes it one of the most sought after GT-Rs of modern times, and after looking at how it performs out on the street I though it would be interesting to take a look at the car in more detail. Back in 2006 I followed one step of the build process of the last Z-tune to ever be made. While the guys at Nismo Omori Factory had completed the chassis modifications with the tons of spot welding and...

It will be another year until we can see these legendary Nissan race machines in action again, so for this final post from the Nismo Festival I have selected some of my favorite action shots... ...starting with another Mt-Fuji shot. The snowcapped volcano is an awe-inspiring sight, what has always symbolized Japan, and to see a JGTC GT-R drive in front of it, well it is a very special moment to say the least. The only street R35 to be seen for miles! The Fuji Speedway official pace car, well at least...

You are looking at what the Nismo Festival was all about this year, racecars. Nissan has never forgotten that enthusiasts want to see their favorite production cars on the race track, something that helps build a strong image for the brand. The concoction of GT-R race engines that were unleashed on the circuit throughout the day was a true visual and aural experience, with crackling and backfiring VK45DEs, VQ30DETTs... ...and of course the best of them all, the mighty RB26DETT. As ever the Gr.A BNR32s...

For me the Nismo Festival has always marked the end of the year's event calendar and for 2009 things just couldn't have gone any better, starting with the weather which was fantastic for this time of year with blue skies throughout the day. Nismo always manages to keep the event interesting, despite there being pretty much the same cars every year, however there are always some new additions to keep fans flocking in, like the FIA GT GT1-class GT-Rs you can see here in the opening picture...

I've always loved seeing OEM wheels on cars they didn't come on - especially on cars from another manufacturer. When it comes to OEM wheel swaps, nothing is more popular than stock Skyline GT-R rollers, which offer forged construction, aggressive sizes, and good design. In this case we see a set of R34 GT-R factory wheels (18x9 +30) mounted on a GDB Subaru Impreza sedan.
There was actually a replica of the R34 wheels made called the Grenade GX01, but these appear to be the real thing.

Here is one nice ride I spotted last month when covering the D1-GP final in Fuji Speedway. This extremely low BNR32 belongs to Ryusuke Kawasaki, the editor of Drift Tengoku (Drift Heaven) Magazine, the only publication you will ever need to read if you are into sliding around in cars! Doriten (the nick name of the mag) first came out back in 1996. It was bundled along with an issue of Option, and it kind of stayed like that until 1999 when it was finally launched as a proper separate publication...
