Just came across this short video of Taniguchi drifting the BenSopra GT-R at Mobara Circuit. As many of you will know the car is based on what was supposed to become Nomuken's next Blitz D1 machine, a 1000 HP R35 that was converted to RWD and stripped of all electronic driver aids. Abe-san from Blitz was there to fine tune the Motec ECU before Nob took the car out for a little test. Unfortunately the engine suffered turbo problems and was pretty much running without any boost. Still, it's worth a look as it's not often you see R35s drifting through tight tracks like Mobara! Can't wait to see this car all fixed up and properly vaporizing those big rear Yokohamas!

Garage Saurus is one of those names that everyone has heard of. So you might be forgiven if you've been wondering what has happened to them. The owner, Hayashi-san, is still very much active in the Japanese tuning scene, continuing to build crazy GT-Rs and other JDM rides on a daily basis out of the Saurus workshop in Saitama. The reason that he and his cars haven't really been out at events and shows over the years is that well, he has pretty much achieved what he set out to do, and the...

Just the other week I had a meeting with some of the Streetgasm folk. The guys in this group come from all walks of life and it shows in the diversity of cars they own. Maurice, the owner of this gorgeous R34, is what you could call the team captain. This R34 is still a work in progress, which is why I've tagged this as a ‘ builds ' feature. When the car is finished I'll have a full feature that includes a review of its driving capabilities. Maurice and I made our way to Pro Import...

I find it truly amazing to see how two people armed with little more than a 5d camera, a 50mm 1.2 lens and an Iphone4S can make such a smooth and stylish automotive film like this. Props to the Crank&Piston team for this little gem of a video!

NISMO and JRM chose the Autosport International Racing Car Show at the NEC in Birmingham to officially unveil the Nissan GT-R GT3, which is now on sale to customer teams to race in any series using FIA GT3 regulations. To coincide with the day of the car's official launch, several thousand miles away in Dubai a GT3 GT-R run by JRM was also lining up to take the start of the Dubai 24 Hours. The driver line-up was certainly a statement of intent, as was the 'Champions' livery it carried...

This weekend The International Racing Car show at the sprawling NEC complex in Birmingham becomes the focus of the racing and performance car world. It's where the manufacturers often choose to launch their new models: this year Nissan and JRM officially launched the GT-R NISMO GT3 at the show. The GT3 variant lacks none of the aggression of its now-redundant GT1 big brother – and the official launch was backed up by a JRM GT-R GT3 taking third position on the grid for today's Dubai...

It's time to wrap up this year's Nismo Festival coverage, something I hope you have enjoyed, as this is all the Nissan/Nismo racing car goodness we will be getting until 2013. You see, with Nismo moving into its all-new HQ in Tsurumi, Yokohama at the end of next year, it has been decided that there will not be a Nismo Festival in 2012. All efforts will be directed towards the move, which will include moving the Nismo Omori Factory operations, workshop and garages to the new site, along with...

Time to get on with things and return to the Nismo Festival to continue from where I left off last week. With so much to see in such a short space of time I made sure I didn't hang around too much in one given place... ...seeing that this year there was also a rather large Skyline Historical line up on the top floor of the main pit building which I had to make sure I checked out. There are the kind of views you can expect at Fuji Speedway when the skies are blue. Incredible! So after checking...

I'm going to jump right into it here with the Nismo Festival coverage and get into a little detail with some of the main cars that were on display in the pits and paddock, before I move onto some tuner cars and more action in the next Part. I decided to start off with the JRZ FIA GT1 R35, the car that Michael Krumm took to a championship win this year. The GT-R has really been making a name for itself this year in international motorsport, adding to the tradition of the legendary badge. Nismo...

You may remember that I came across quite a few GT-Rs during my visit to Australian car builders Mercury Motorsport. And out of all of them - ranging from R32s to R35s - this one in particular deserved a closer look. This is a gorgeous example of a cleanly modified, road registered R32 GT-R - which just so happens to produce 675hp at four wheels. That power comes courtesy of a Tomei Genesis crate motor that is stroked to 2.8 litres and running on E85 fuel. The twin turbo setup has been replaced with...

Another Sunday, and another great event. Once again, just like last week after the Gazoo Racing Festival and the Toyota 86 test drive, I find myself sitting in the press room typing away. I should be on my way home but as ever traffic is terrible so why waste precious hours sitting in a car when I can give you a little teaser post from the 2011 Nismo Festival. As usual this is nothing short of a country-wide pilgrimage for Nissan enthusiasts that come to see their favorite Nismo race cars in action...

You may have read Ross' recent coverage from the Drift Allstars finale at Wembley but you may not have been aware that Wembley on the same day also hosted the first ever Hellaflush event in the UK. Running alongside the traditional static show that accompanies the Drift Allstars series, the inaugural Hellaflush UK event saw a relatively strong showing of cars. The influence the Hellaflush movement has had on the global modified car scene cannot be denied, regardless if you like or dislike the...

Well, it's a reality now. In the space of twenty two weeks, Nissan UK will build a one-off Nissan Juke-R combining their crossover with an R35 GT-R. Looking at the video above, they certainly aren't doing things by halves and are in the capable hands of RML in the UK. I'm quite looking forward to the final result. This is the same company who brought us a mid-engined 350Z powered Micra (The Micra 350SR) so they have a bit of wild streak for building fun and outside the box project cars.

GT-R owners and worshippers throughout Japan take a special yearly pilgrimage to Fuji Speedway for the holy day known as "R’s Meeting." The story of my travels to this GT-R Mecca transcends GT-R ownership and fandom, of which I joyfully participate, and takes on an even greater meaning. For myself and my colleague Kristoffer, this trip represented the first time in 11 years that Bulletproof Automotive entered the Japanese market as a local seller. After all of those years representing...

All of a sudden it's that time of the year again. The sounds of cars launching on 50+ pounds of boost, the smell of methanol in the air and the feeling of the ground shaking with each pass that's laid down. Jamboree is back in town. This leading Australian drag racing event was originally scheduled to run at the end of August, but due to a rainy forecast it was postponed until this coming weekend. Prior to this weekend's Jamboree, the world's fastest GT-R - the Heat Treatments R32...

The Slovakiaring's paddock was teeming with car-spotting opportunities over the weekend of the FIA GT3 races, with a packed supercar parking area adjacent to the pits plus the attractions at numerous displays around the track. And what a supercar display there was! Each GT round has been playing a game of who's-got-the-sauciest-cars – Silverstone's Lamborghini Aventador and Paul Ricard's Aston One-77 (and US muscle) for instance, but Slovakia provided that and more. The rarest...

For how great the R35 GT-R is out of the box and when fettled with, you can't ignore the continuous interest that the older generation of "R's" generate. On the tuning front part makers not only continue to churn out performance upgrades to enhance every aspect of the car but there is still a great deal of R&D going on and new products coming out all the time. Kitabayashi-san at Pentroof may have dedicated a lot of his time to the creation of R35-specific upgrades over the last...

The supercar displays at the FIA GT races always provide a mouth-watering array of cars to gawp at even before you make it to the race paddock: they're a great way to remind you that the DNA of what you see on the track invariably has a road car origin – and that the racecars in turn influence their road-going sisters. So far this year the quantity of cars on display at the races has varied from minimal but rare-as-hen's-teeth to a sensory overload of svelte Euro metal, with everything...

I'm sure most of you are aware of our 'day in the life' series of stories where we follow an unsuspecting victim for a day and then relay back to you what it would be like to walk in this person's shoes for a day. For this particular story however, we're extremely fortunate for this person to talk us through their day in their own words. I'm rather quite excited by this for two reasons - we've never had the person of interest write this piece before and secondly, just...
