In 2005 Jim Glickenhaus commissioned Pininfarina and Ferrari to build him a modern day version of the famous 1960 Ferrari 330 P3/4 racecar. It became the now famous Ferrari P4/5 that is based on an Enzo with a body that was been designed by Pininfarina. However, because this car was built as a road car it wasn't allowed to participate in any race. But Jim Glickenhaus wanted more, so in 2009 he set out to build a racecar version of the P4/5 called the P4/5 Competizione. But this time it would...

On Friday I packed my camera and made the trip to Zandvoort for the Gran Turismo Events trackday. I was told there would be some special cars including Ferraris and Lamborghinis. On my way there I already saw some cars on the highway so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. After arriving at the circuit I made my way towards the pit lane and I was greeted by this gorgeous couple. The GT3 RS is perfectly suited for trackdays like these. This F430 Scuderia had a very nice color that I had never seen...

In any kind of competition the real excitement, the real edge comes when the Big Dogs square up to each other. At the tracks that means the manufacturers, sure the racing can be good when private teams are running against each other, see GT1 and GT3 for example but the stuff of legends is only really possible when the factories do battle. In endurance racing there were two arenas for these contests, Le Mans Prototypes with Audi and Peugeot going toe to toe with their fabulous turbo diesels and Le...

Let's have a look at another major tuner that was present at the Essen Motor Show . Usually Techart has a stand of their own but this year they worked together with tire manufacturer Continental. Techart brought three cars with them that included two new versions. One of them was their take on the Porsche Panamera dubbed the GrandGT. This was by far the best looking Panamera at the show. Techart has been able to totally transform the look of the Panamera that looks pretty dull in it's original...

I might be miles behind the times but I just found this video on the Driftworks forum and was absolutely blown away by these last few laps in the ALMS GT2 class at Laguna Seca between Jorg Bergmeister and Jan Magnussen. I'll be making a point of following this series in 2010.

The main question is, who do you think was right or wrong on the last corner of the last lap ?

The Rocketsports Racing team may still be working the kinks out of their new Jaguar XKR ALMS car, but there's no denying the presence this car has on the track. Here's a high resolution photo of the car I shot last weekend at Laguna Seca. Head to the Desktops section now to pick it up in widescreen or standard format. -Mike Garrett...

I'm sure that you are all somewhat familiar with this beautiful piece of engineering -the Rahal Letterman Racing BMW M3 GT2.... And lucky for you, BMW agreed to let me get under the skin of the GT2 during my recent trip to Rahal Letterman Racing a few weeks ago. I've been following the development of this car with some interest since the racing program was first announced and made sure that John Brooks took tons of snaps of the car at Sebring earlier this year. The debut of the new racing...

Well BMW Month seems to be off to a good start huh? I'm pretty excited about what's in store for the site for September but am also a bit stressed out by how much work there is to do!... Oh well... All part of the game I suppose. For my first proper BMW feature I thought I'd take you on a quick tour of Rahal Letterman Racing, the team that runs the two M3 GT2s in the American Le Mans series. Based in Hilliard, Ohio, RLR is based out of a whopping 60,000 square foot facility split between...

Hot off the press! Corvette Racing have have just announced their new Corvette C6.R GT2 race car. The car new will make its competition debut in the American Le Mans Series this weekend, at Mid-Ohio. The new 'vette will be joining a very competitive class, with the likes of BMW, Porsche, Ferrari, Panoz and Ford. Previous versions of the Corvette C5-R and C6.R race cars have dominated the GTS and GT1 categories in the last decade, winning 77 races and eight consecutive ALMS championships. The...

Not sure if this is intentional but I do know it looks great. The cars are racing in a new series called the International GT Open, the season opener was held this weekend on the circuit of Imola. The series are open to GT2 and GT3 supercars, so a lot of cars from FIAGT and ACO are also running in this series. Picture spotted at Supercars.net -Jeroen Willemsen

Japanese Auto Sport magazine and GTCenter.net are showing images of what appears to be a GT1 or GT2 Nissan R35 GT-R testing at Fuji, just before Christmas. No official confirmation from the Japanese manufacture, but GTR Centre believe that the car is a GT1 chassis with close to 600bhp. You can see the lowered stance, extra cooling and air outlets in the hood (bonnet!), wider fenders, skirts and of course, the rear wing. It may share the same V8 engine as the GT500 racer. The FiA GT regs forbid all...

By now our readers have probably seen the great video footage that Rod shot at Porschewerks Leipzig for the 911 RS vs 911 GT2 feature on Speedhunters. While you all are capable of Googling the specs and numbers on the Porsche 911 GT2, I wanted to talk for a minute about how the car felt when I was driving it. The GT2 I drove was actually a Clubsport edition GT2 - an instructor car from Porsche's Sport Driving School at Leipzig. The Clubsport designation means it comes equipped with a bolt-in...

So that's it for Porsche month... it's been quite the odyssey for the site it has to be said. Perhaps we went a bit crazy with our outpouring of love for the cars from Stuttgart... For those of you who were pained by this experience we apologize hahaha. It's hard to please everyone isn't it. At any rate regular service is about to be resumed. For now we'll leave you with this video we've been working on for the past few weeks. It features one brand new 2008 Porsche 911 GT2...

One car that definitely made waves in the United States professional drifting scene is the JIC Magic/Hankook Tires Porsche 993 GT2. This car is being driven in the Formula Drift Series by Northern California's Tyler McQuarrie, a driving instructor at Infineon Raceway. This was the first-ever Porsche to be used for professional drifting in the United States, and as a result, it made a lot of media headlines when it first came out. During the Formula D New Jersey round, it was almost impossible...

When we are talking about Porsche there are some major tuners worth noting. One of those tuners is Techart, who have been around since 1987. In 2001 they started with a new concept called the GTstreet with this 997 GT2 is their newest addition to the stable. Techart has changed the look of the car and more importantly they added more than 160hp to this already impressive engine. ...

As some of you may or may not know, certain members of our international Speedhunters team are currently traveling through Europe. While we have been keeping ourselves extremely busy tailgating people around the Autobahn, meeting new friends, eating at new places, visiting legendary race tracks, driving cool cars, and searching for drinks that actually have ice in them... We realize that we still have a responsibility to update the site with photos of our adventures. Tonight after dinner, I somehow...

In our final 'cars of Le Man' post we look at the GT2 class with the help of Photos from our trackside Photographer, John Brooks. Although this class is at the rear of the field it is very competitive and almost any of the entries could take honours. GT2 cars are less powerful than GT1 (with around 450-500bhp) and are closer to production cars with their bodywork. Unlike GT1, Carbon brakes are not allowed. GT2 is a Ferrari v Porsche duel with a couple of Spykers trying to get into the act...
