Well it's Friday, the last day of Skyline Week. Have you guys had enough yet? To finish off my journey through the Speedhunters archives, I've assembled a gallery highlighting some of the late model Skylines and GT-R's featured on the site. I've included V35 and V36 chassis cars, as well as the R35 GT-R....

Anniversaries, even significant ones, can often times come and go unnoticed by husbands and boyfriends the world over - apparently there is something lodged in our brains that makes us forget these dates! In 2009 however, there was one date on the calendar that gave these unlucky lads cause to celebrate. See, a few months ago, two guys set out to organise a national cruise to honour the vehicles they love and cherish – the R34 GT-R. Terry Tung-yep and Eugene Chan had thought long and hard about...

After checking out the GT-R from Flatwell everyone was talking about at the HKS Premium Day, I think it would be a pity of we didn't take a look at this equally impressive BNR34 built by Koizumi-san at Auto Gallery Yokohama. Looks wise this particular car is far simpler, fitted with only a few choice Nismo parts like the side and rear skirts as well as the rear overfender strips . But it's under the hood that things get very interesting. To any GTR- otaku out there, this set-up would be instantly...

Among all the highly tuned Skyline GT-Rs at the HKS Premium Day there were a few that really stood out, one of them being this black BNR34 from Osaka-based tuning garage Flatwell . With lots of experience building time attack machines it's not surprising this latest creation of theirs looks so damn hot! The owner of the car, yes this is a privately owned street-driven car, has kept all of the exterior modification functional starting with that massive bi-wing carbon spoiler. Up front the C-West...

It's funny how things come around. Last November I spent a rainy couple of days down in Rye on the South coast of England. Rye is a lovely town: quintessentially English with cobbled streets and fortified walls (and an unexpected American car show scheduled that weekend), but with movies on the laptop all watched, Medieval tower climbed and coffee shops exhausted I thought I'd take a drive out in the gale to the coastline, across the marshes, as the show looked rained off. Driving out through...

The boys from AMS have taken on quite a project. A customer from Florida has asked them to build an R35 GT-R that makes over 1,000 horsepower to the wheels.

Seems like a big challenge, but there's no reason to doubt the skills of the AMS crew.

This short video clip that AMS Rich sent us introduces the new project.

Today we got an email from Andrew at HPI Racing showing this tasty pre-production version of HPI's new R35 GT-R body. This is one is a replica of the Hankook GTR drift car, and should be available next year at the same time the real car makes its competition debut. A version of the Hankook drift Camaro is also in the works. I can't wait to see both of them in the flesh (or plastic?) next year. -Mike Garrett HPI Racing ...

Sometimes it's really hard to believe that the high tech R32 Skyline GT-R is now over 20 years old. The R32 is just one of several iconic Japanese cars that recently have crossed the 20-year mark. Others include the S13 Silvia and the NA chassis Mazda Roadster. Surely these cars will be the "nostalgics" of generations to come. The car in the photo is the Auto Gallery Yokohama R32, seen at Tsukuba Circuit last year. -Mike Garrett...

This popped up on my twitter account earlier. Autocar Magazine in the UK released a video of Nick Masons road-legal BMW powered McLaren F1 GTR around, what looks like Chobham test track in the UK. I believe an article appears in this week's Autocar Magazine.

Despite what the video says, I don't think '10R' is the most famous, by any means. I would suggest the 1995 Le Mans winning Ueno Clinic car or GTC Gulf cars would hold that 'title'.

This car has recently had its yellow '96 GTR' launch livery re-applied. This was designed to announce the 1996 version of the GTR and needed to stand out on the page. I had real difficulty in coming up with a livery for the car which was already painted Red, so I asked the paint-shop at McLaren to cut me some 'GTR' stickers for my scale model....

.....I came back from lunch and a couple of GTR stickers were lying hap-hazard on my desk, on top of some elevation drawings. I thought that works, and that was that, onto the next project!

I do remember it was a pain for the guys to sticker though!

I'm really finding it hard to believe that we're already way past the half point of the 2009 racing season, to me it seems like just a bit ago we were working on our preview stories for the season. Anyways, the Super GT series was in action last weekend during its annual summertime trip to Suzuka Circuit for the Pokka GT Summer Special. Here's a quick look at what went down....

I've been down to the Daikoku Parking Area (PA) rather often this last month. First it was the RX7 annual meeting in July, then the AE86 gathering last week, but last night it was more of a small get together with a few car -otaku friends of mine. I wasn't expecting to shoot anything as it was just our monthly meet, but I brought my camera gear in the back of the 34, just in case. It's a good thing I did, as there were quite a few interesting cars that dropped by over the course of the...

Last weekend the Super GT series was in action again, this time at Sportsland Sugo in Japan's Miyagi Prefecture. Being round five, this race would be the midpoint of the 2009 Super GT season. So far '09 hasn't been the dominant year that '08 was for the GT-R teams, but most people still consider them favorites in the GT500 class....

Back last fall I headed to the US for a couple of weeks to cover the SEMA show. It's a trip I have done a few times in the past and one that I always enjoy as there is something pretty special about the US and its car scene. These trips are also a great opportunity to sample some interesting cars, and this time I knew precisely what I wanted to drive. Having been behind the wheel of close to 20 or so R35s here in Japan you might wonder why on earth I decided to drive around in one of these new...

Most people would say that the biggest benefit of an all-wheel-drive layout is copious amounts of grip. For years, AWD cars and their grip have proven themselves on race tracks and roads all over the world. You'd expect the precise grip that AWD delivers would have no place in the unusual world drifting, and for the most part that's true. However, cars that were once AWD have become rather popular among drifters around the world. Even if you take the AWD out of the equation, cars like the Evolution and Impreza still offer lots of horsepower, a stiff chassis, and well-designed suspension that can be appreciated by anyone, even drifting goons. Since we can never go too long without running a drifting story on Speedhunters, here's a look at some of the AWD-based drift cars that have popped up over the years....

When I was writing this story I got an email from Rod saying I had to contact Andy Blackmore for more info on the car. Off course this triggered my curiosity as to why I should contact him. It seemed that Andy did some work on the liveries and a concept of the front that later led to the front end of the McLaren F1 GT. So there was no doubt in my mind that Andy was the go-to guy for more info regarding this car. There is always a hot debate going on between the McLaren fans, it seems that it is all...

What better way to spend Japan's "Golden Week" holiday than by taking in a Super GT race at Fuji Speedway? After just a two week break, the Suer GT series was back in action for its third race of the season and its first visit to Fuji this year. Last time at Suzuka Circuit, the Zent Cerumo SC430 ended the GTR's winning streak in GT500. Would the GTR's be able to come back at Fuji in front of the huge holiday crowds?...

Does anybody remember my post about this R8 made by PPI, when I was at the Essen Motor Show last year? The car at that time, was still a prototype, but looked very impressive with its carbon exterior. Now PPI have finally unveiled their masterpiece, at the Top Marques Show in Monaco. The goal for PPI was to get a better power to weight ratio, so first they started to work on the engine. The already potent 4.2 liter V8 has 420bhp but thanks to a supercharger and adjusted exhaust system it now puts...

Anyone who works with me knows that I'm one of the world's most impatient people with an extremely short attention span, and a bit of an obessive mindset. This has it's uses for pushing through crazy media projects like Speedhunters, but I can also be slightly demanding to collaborate with.... Just ask UK Speedhunter John Brooks; he's been getting a daily dose of emails from me asking when we can see the completed feature on Nismo's new race car: the FIA GT1 spec R35. John assures...
