When I was told that Nissan was delivering a bright red R35 GTR to my office, I was more than excited! It wasn't my first time experiencing an R35 - I had already seen the car at the 2008 Tokyo Auto Salon , and even accompanied my friend, Nobushige Kumakubo of Team Orange , to the Nissan dealer in Fukushima Japan when he decided to buy one this past January. In fact, Kumakubo generously gave me the opportunity to test out his new GTR at speed when I returned to Japan this past August; I couldn't...

While I was navigating my way through the SEMA Show yesterday, I spent most of the morning yawning from lack of enthusiasm for the cars I was looking at. The first hall I went through had me rolling my eyes pretty frequently - I was certainly disappointed with the lack of style on the cars in the first hall I walked through. So imagine my surprise when I came across this Scion TC. I'm not even the biggest fan of the TC; everyone knows I'm an FR car guy. However, I just had to give supreme...

Just a quick shot of the Woodone Advan Clarion GT-R lightin' em up during a demo run at today's Motorsport Japan Festival in Odaiba. Seeing and hearing a GT500 machine roar past you a mere 10 feet away is quite the experience! More coverage of this event coming soon, but for now enjoy the rest of your weekend!...

Time for some more coverage from Thursday's HKS Hiper Meeting at Tsukuba Circuit. There was just too much cool stuff to jam into one post. I read through the comments you guys left on the first post and tried to include some more photos of the cars you wanted to see (they happen to be the same ones I was digging). Just look at the first shot with a pair of Subarus, an S2000, an Evo X and an R32 GT-R in the background. This is why I love hanging out at Tsukuba Circuit!...

Today as I was driving out to Tsukuba Circuit, I realized that it has been quite a while since I have shot any traditional "tuning car" race events. I have covered other Tsukuba events recently like the Idlers Games and the JCCA Summer Meeting, but I was looking forward to seeing some fully tuned GT-R's, RX7's, S2000's attacking the circuit. With fall in the air, Tsukuba is again becoming busy with time trial and soukoukai events and I for one am happy be putting the humid, rainy summer behind me. The event I was going to was the HKS Hiper Challenge at the Tsukuba 2000 Course, part of a series of events held by HKS at tracks all over Japan. This particular event was it's second of three Hiper Challenges at Tsukuba this year. The Hiper Challenge includes time trial and free run classes for everyone from beginners in their daily drivers to pros driving shop demo cars. After spending a little time at the Hiper Challenge, my tuning car thirst would be more than quenched....

It's a beautiful sunny day in Tokyo right now - the rain has finally stopped (for a few hours, according to the weather report) but instead of going out to my favorite places in the city, I'm sitting in this dark cubicle in an internet cafe, because I know you all have been waiting to see my Super GT photos. Hopefully you guys like them - I'm doing this for YOU guys, Speedhunters readers! I'll be very honest. Going to a big race event like Super GT while you're in Japan is super...

The video camera I use to shoot the various Car Tours and Slomo videos is something quite special. It's a new generation HD camera which records video sequences direct to a PC card. No messing around with video tapes! At the end of each shooting session I'll pull the cards out of the camera and dump the footage on the two USB hard drives I travel with. However, yesterday we had a little emergency as the hard drives reached their capacity limit; no more room! This means that I've shot...

As some of you might know, we've been on a long and crazy trip across Europe and Japan. Right now, I'm chillin out with a fellow American friend, Andrew, in the Suzuka Circuit media center - he is shooting this event for Import Tuner , so make sure to check the magazine in a future issue of the mag. One thing I noticed while walking around the pit area at Suzuka Super GT... the R35 Nissan GTR s look amazing! I can't decide which R35 livery I like best... the Hasemi Motorsports/Yellow...

This is the rear of an Ultima GTR with it's rear body panel taken off. I just can't stop looking at it, just look at that exhaust setup, the turbo's, intercoolers, blowoff valves, fans...... it's just a piece of art. For more info on this Ultima check out their site . Found on the Driftworks forum

Fuujin Gets 7.5 second spec cage in preparation for 2008. We've just finished the work to make our Drag GTR ( and current European 4WD record holder ) even more compliant and safe to meet the rules for 7.5 second doorslammer cars. The car was previously spec'd to 8.5 second rules however late last year we started to dip into the lowe 8's with a best of 8.27 @164mph which was the milestone for the next phase of our cars development. Since the inception, the cars purpose is to run quicker...

I am the co-owner of Sumo Power and also the Time Attack Series and European Drift Championship, all 3 of which are based in the UK. In 2002 we started Sumo Power as a main HKS distributor in the UK and we began making cars to show the parts off. Pretty quickly we got deep with how we wanted the cars to be and before long we had an array of cars for different things. We normally name each of our cars to give it character, for instance, Ichiban ( Japanese for No. 1 ), Hercules ( Greek god known for...

I was at Tsukuba Circuit last week when I "came upon" the famous Mine's R34 Skyline GT-R undergoing some sort of tire testing for Bridgestone. While everyone may be talking about the R35, I was reminded just how impressive the R34 is while watching this car rip around the track. Lap times were in the 59 second range. Here are few photos I managed to snap of this beast-

Not too long ago, I had the chance to go to the Nissan dealership in Fukushima Japan with Nobushige Kumakubo and Mitsuteru Igusa from Japan's legendary Team Orange. Since I had never had the chance to see a GTR in a Japanese car dealership at the time, I wanted to check it out. We all took turns sitting in the car, while Kumakubo and Igusa whispered to each other in Japanese, saying phrases like "hehhhhhhh..." and "iii ne!" while the Nissan salesman danced around them, trying...

The return of the Nissan GT-R to the Super GT Series may be old news, but that doesn't mean that the sight of a Super GT spec GT-R no longer gets one's blood pumping. Courtesy of Nissan's press department, we have a few fantastic shots of the GT-R teams in action during the Fuji Speedway race earlier this month. These particular photos do a fantastic job of portraying the excitement of a Super GT race. Looking at the photos, you can almost hear the cars as they scream by the camera. A...
