I think very few people would disagree that the McLaren MP4/4 was one of the greatest Formula 1 cars ever produced. It was campaigned in the 1988 season, where Ayrton Senna was paired up with Alain Prost, leading to one of the biggest team-mate rivalries of all time.
The MP4/4 was utterly dominant, winning 15 out of the 16 races, with no less than ten 1-2 finishes.
A big reason for the McLaren's success was its powerplant. Although Honda was successful with Williams the previous season, the H logo found itself on the cowling of the red and white McLaren for the 1988 season. In the turbo-era of F1, Honda's 1.5 litre V6 was simply untouchable.
Here's a cool video from the archives, with McLaren's current drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton visiting Senna's Formula 1 machine.
