During my time as a Speedhunter I've learnt one thing: that the people from Scandinavia are truly mental when it comes to building cars. Take this Golf project for example, which is not only mind-blowing, but also executed flawlessly. First you take a discarded Golf MKIII and start tearing it apart. When you're left with a bare shell it's time to test fit some of the parts. The owner opted to go wide-body. Then it's time to start fabricating. As you can see there is not much left...

Just the other week I had a meeting with some of the Streetgasm folk. The guys in this group come from all walks of life and it shows in the diversity of cars they own. Maurice, the owner of this gorgeous R34, is what you could call the team captain. This R34 is still a work in progress, which is why I've tagged this as a ‘ builds ' feature. When the car is finished I'll have a full feature that includes a review of its driving capabilities. Maurice and I made our way to Pro Import...

There are, of course, many ways to modify a Porsche but not all improve on the original package. GMG Motorsports are no strangers when it comes to tuning Porsches and now they have a complete package to turn your Porsche into a real track animal. The kit is called the GMG World Challenge track package and consists of predominantly suspension components. Their latest project is this 2011 Porsche GT3 RS that belongs to a customer in AZ. This is the 19 th car to receive the complete GMG treatment. The...

The EVO VII is a pretty rare sight on Dutch roads, so when I was given the chance to shoot this example I immediately said yes. The car belongs to Henry who imported the car from the UK. After he bought the car he didn't change much except for the eye catching orange Gram Lights 57D. As the name suggests on the windshield Henry is part of the Streetgasm team. It is one of the more well-known teams in the Dutch tuning scene. The car has a lot of carbon touches. It starts at the front with a chunky...

Every now and then I receive a submission that's worth sharing. An unusual car that popped into my inbox yesterday was this Opel Rekord. Built in 1980, this Rekord E1 has been painted in the same yellow that's used by taxis in Germany, hence the Yel low cab nickname. The old school Zender Turbo wheels are certainly a perfect match. I don't have many details on this car, so I'm unsure what suspension it's running. These cars change hands for next to nothing these days. But I'm...

While Rauh Welt has become known for producing some amazing looking Porsches, there are of course many more tuners that can turn an ‘ordinary' Porsche into a street legal beast. Take for example DP Motorsport, a company that has been on the scene since 1975. Although famous for building race cars, they've also been churning out some tough street cars like this 1973 Porsche 911. This 911 was built by DP Motorsports to demonstrate their lightweight carbon parts. First they stripped the...

I have always been a fan of Nobuteru Taniguchi's red Vertex S15 . But I truly became hooked when T&E debuted the new Vertex Edge bodykit on the S15 and repainted it in pearl white. This car just oozes style and has to be one of the best looking S15s in the world. -Jeroen Willemsen S Chassis Festival 2012

One of the most extreme S14s I know is this one owned by Lennard Wander. I spotted this in 2009 and I still think it's one the coolest S14s in the world. Not only is it extreme on the outside thanks to a BN Sports blister kit, but under the hood lurks something equally impressive. That custom exhaust is connected to a fully built RB26 that delivers more than enough to get the car sideways in spectacular fashion. I last saw it at the 24hrS Nürburgring race where it was doing demonstration...

It's always hard to choose a favorite car because there are so many that fit the bill. The problem is that I do not a have a fixed perception of the perfect car. But I do know that once I see a car I can instantly fall in love with it. That's what happened when I saw the Tra Kyoto S13. I love it for several reasons, one of them being how it changed my view on S13s. It was so different to what I was used to seeing. The Tra Kyoto Silvia is a real game changer and I love it for that. -Jeroen...

Photos are like memories to me. They may not be the best photographs I've taken, but the story behind them and the memories they evoke are what matter to me. This year I've learned a lot, and I even got a new camera to capture more memories. In this review you'll see all sorts of different photos that range in style from portraits to the one you see above. Standing on the inside of La Source at Spa is a great experience, you can witness the cars in such close proximity braking hard for the cor...

While walking through the Essen Auto Show the other week, Rod and I started talking about the recent Art of the Badge articles from fellow Speedhunter, Jonathan Moore. The genius of these posts is how they refresh normal event coverage as they look at details that are sometimes overlooked. This then allows you to compare car features, side by side. Mike Garrett's wheel and paint posts from the California Hot Rod Reunion and Rod's Engines of SEMA post follow on from this new story template...

9ff unveiled this new version of the GT9 at the recent Essen Motor Show. It was specifically built for a customer that wanted a car that looked good and could hold its own on the track. 9ff dubbed the car CS or Club Sport. It's based on the original GT9 that was unveiled at the 2007 Essen Motor Show. The GT9 CS is an evolution of the GT9 that was built for top speed runs. After the GT9 came the GT9-R that I featured last year during the My Car Show in Dortmund. This CS is the latest addition...

While walking through one of the halls at the recent Essen Motor Show I was very surprised to see a bunch of rally cars from yester year. They were part of a display that celebrated 100 years of the Monte Carlo Rally. The Motor Show had selected a few cars that won the rally in its 100 years of existence. I've made a small selection of the cars present beginning with this Subaru Impreza. The Subaru on display was oddly enough not the one that won the 1997 Monte Carlo Rally. The car you see here...

I'll admit that I'm not a big collector of die cast models. But I do appreciate them and like to check them out in great detail. So when I found out that Minichamps had a museum in Aachen, Germany I hopped in the car and made the two and a half hour drive to visit the museum. The museum is attached to the actual factory that builds the model cars. You enter through a small door and are greeted by a security officer. In the 600 square metre museum you can find more than 3000 models at any...

After our look at the Tuners and the Race & Drift cars at the Essen Motor Show, let's turn our attention to the street cars. The show always has a great mix of cars, from the good, to the bad. There really is something for everyone! OZ Razing had some cool wheels on display including this Leggenda Racing model. It comes in 17" and you can order it in this matte black finish with white lettering or with a matte white finish with red lettering. Besides the replica Renault 5 Turbo race...

For my next Essen Motor Show feature, I'm going to concentrate on showcasing race and drift cars, starting with this Ferrari 458. We quite like the simplicity of the livery as it allows you to appreciate the lines of the car. Perhaps more race cars should go this route. Here's more proof, showing that race cars often look better without liveries. My heart skipped a beat when I came across this DTM BMW E30 M3. It was parked up next to the 2012 DTM M3 that Rod featured earlier, linking BMW's...

A couple of weeks ago I got an email from Rod, telling me that he was planning to join me during the Essen Motor Show . The last few years I have always been traveling alone to the Essen Motor Show, so this was a welcome change. The show gives a fairly accurate picture of the different styles and scenes in Germany and was a good opportunity for Rod to see it in person for the first time. So after a small detour to pick Rod up at the Düsseldorf airport, we arrived at the giant convention center...

Then just a few weeks back, we were treated to the automotive delights of the American SEMA show . And now it's time for the Europeans to display their wares. To me the Mercedes Black Series is one of the most hardcore vehicles on the road. They excel in performance and handling. To top it all off, they also look amazing on the road and on the track. But there are always people who try and improve on something that is already ‘perfect'. After seeing the progress photos I have no doubt that Fluid MotorUnion and Reaction Brand Marketing have made something good. even better. I'll let Andrew Krok from Fluid MotorUnion take you through the process...
