Photography is, mostly, a rather geeky affair. We, as photographers, constantly nerd out over numbers. And to those that aren't versed with the language of photography think, we light capturists, are talking in some alien language. Foreign terms like shutter speed, aperture, focal length, and ISO, along with all the numbers associated with those things, make photography seem like scientific process. To a lot of people, if I told someone that I shot a photo with a 135mm with an aperture of F2...

By now, almost everyone on the internet has seen Gymkhana Four. If you haven't, do so now before proceeding. So with that, let's take our second and final look at the production of the film.......

The Gymkhana short film series have done what many other automotive films try to do but fall rather short: these films broke that tightly wound automotive mold and broke into the mainstream. With the first film hovering somewhere around the 10 million view mark on Youtube, the second film hitting around 27 million and the third raking in a solid 34 million, it's safe to say that these videos are much more than just popular and that Ken Block more than just a household name. Today, the automotive...

Ken Block's Gymkhana series has always been about driving prowess. Though there's been a few slap stick gimmicks thrown in the past few installments, in its essence, it has still been about the just driving. This fourth installment is no different. The gimmick level has been taken up quite a few levels but in an amazingly entertaining way.

Watch it and witness a powerhouse of a man do what he does --enjoying life with the best of his abilities.

One lucky contest winner got to ride in Ken Block's RallyX Ford Fiesta from Los Angeles International Aiport under police escort to the X Games in downtown LA --a 25 minute freeway hop. The word cool doesn't even suffice to describe that situation. Though one lucky person got to experience the real thing, the rest of us will just have to enjoy it with this desktop wallaper. Sit back and think for a minute. Think about what you're doing this very second. I can safely say that reading this Speedhunters is one of those things. But how about the others? Maybe checking your Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or browsing music on Spotify. If there's one other certainty, it's the fact that none of us were being picked up by Ken Block and his Rally X car from the airport to go to the X Games. That's exactly what happened this morning at the Los Angeles International...

The 2011 World Rally Championship gets underway this Thursday with an all-new look. In summary, the FIA have introduced a new formulae. With similar regulations to the World Touring Car Championship, they will be using smaller engine 1600cc turbocharged cars. The cars themselves will have a bodykit and limited aerodynamic devices. All WRC cars remain four wheel drive and will have sequential gearboxes. Six time world Champion, Citroen return with their new DS3 model for Sébastien Loeb and...

The donut is one of the first maneuvers taught when learning how to drift. Pro drifters and rally racers sometimes do donuts when they make a mistake to get back on course. And s ometimes they do donuts for fun when they are celebrating a win or just for show. In Gymkhana Grid, learning how to execute donuts and figure eights cleanly and quickly can be a huge advantage in the competition. The layout seems complex at first, but after watching a few runs you start to understand where the course goes...

It's official! This weekend at Gymkhana GRID I will be joining forces with my good friend Ken Block and the Monster World Rally team to compete at Irwindale Speedway. Ken offered me the the chance to drive his sick 1978 Ford Escort RS rally car, and I just couldn't refuse the opportunity to blast that thing around Irwindale! Ken and I have never competed in an event together, so this should be fun for sure. Hope to see some of you out there! - Vaughn Gittin Jr. Official press release Buy...

Check out this super funny video from Ken and the Gymkhana Grid team. I guess this means that the cat's out of the bag and you all know that I will in fact be driving at this event. I won't be driving my trusty Monster Energy Falken Tire Ford Mustang, but I did get an awesome opportunity to drive something that I think you all will like! Check back tomorrow to find out what car I will be blasting around Irwindale Speedway in!

Here's a question for you all: Would you replace your 550 horse power Mercedes CLS for a lime green hot hatch with about 200 less horse power? Keep in mind that the hot hatch, a 2010 Ford Focus RS, is not available in the United States. So add the rarity factor. Also keep in mind that your day job consists of being a professional hoon in a 850 horsepower peanut. And being a professional hoon, you'd want a car that puts around town in a comfortable, yet fun car. A cruise liner sized CLS would...

Forget how you feel about the rally scene around the world, the rally scene in North America, RallyX, a few big name American drivers or your opinions of Mr. Ken Block. Forget it all. We are all petrol heads. And when one of the our own show a bit of driving prowess, there's nothing else to do but applaud after such a showing.

Does part three trump the previous two Gymkhanas? Yes. Yes it does.

Can you hear the sound of the slow clap ringing in unison around the world? Because it's happening right now. RIGHT. NOW.

Ken Block's gymkhana videos have been seen by millions around the world - making his name a household one. Mr. Block has become a sensation for doing crazy things in automobiles, but you don't need to be an international superstar to compete in this most technical of motorsports. In order to prove this, Ken is helping to bring gymkhana to the masses with the new Gymkhana Grid series. The series kicked off this weekend with a test event at the Hollywood Park race track, located not in Hollywood but it in Inglewood, just a stone's throw from LAX Airport....

Check out this video of Ken Block's WRC spec Ford Fiesta. The Subaru will definitely be missed. But we can't wait to see this sucker in action on the World Rally stage. We at Speedhunters wish Mr. Block the best of luck this season!

-Linhbergh

Update:- OK, time for some clarification. Comments are getting confusing and heated. Love the passion guys!  The car shown is the car which will rally in the first part of the ‘Rally America’ Series, which does not cater for WRC or S2000 class. I believe this car will run in the 'Open' class. This is similar to  Group A, to Rally America specifications and built by MSE.

This is not a S2000 spec Fiesta, a WRC Fiesta (have to wait until 2011 for that) or the Rallycross style MSE Fiesta from ESPN’s 2009 X-Games.

As people have pointed out from the video, Ken will also do a number of WRC Rallies in a M-Sport prepared Ford Focus WRC. Lastly, Ken plans to compete in X Games. I would assume they would run the MSE Rallycross style car for that – but I don’t think the car has been confirmed.

Hope this helps. -AndyB

Here is a video that Ken Block sent me this morning of himself and fellow rally driver Chris Atkinson having some fun in Ken's 1978 Ford Escort. Under the hood sits a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Millington engine that boasts 280 BHP. It also is setup with WRC-styled paddle shifting and a six-speed sequential gearbox. I think this video does an incredible job of capturing the definition of fun!

In case you haven't seen it, here's Ken Block's latest Gymkhana video - featuring an appearance by his buddy Rob Drydek.

I actually found myself laughing out loud several times during this one.

Nice job!
