This weekend The International Racing Car show at the sprawling NEC complex in Birmingham becomes the focus of the racing and performance car world. It's where the manufacturers often choose to launch their new models: this year Nissan and JRM officially launched the GT-R NISMO GT3 at the show. The GT3 variant lacks none of the aggression of its now-redundant GT1 big brother – and the official launch was backed up by a JRM GT-R GT3 taking third position on the grid for today's Dubai...

Unless you're living in New Zealand and are enjoying the height of the D1NZ drift season, this time of year is slim pickings for us race fans. The sound of unhinged racing engines has fallen silent at motorsport venues across the world. Champions have been crowned, celebrations finished, and post mortems completed. For people like me, this isn't necessarily a good thing. I absolutely love car racing in all its various forms, so any month without the smell of race fuel is not something to...

Here's a SEMA find that's is sure to generate some heat in the comments section. As I worked my way through the Central Hall last week, I came across Kevin Byrd's 1990 E30 M3 sitting in the Heatshield Products booth....

Building an aggressive street car nearly always involves making some sort of compromise along the way. As much as we would all like to think we could live with a stripped and caged daily driver, we all know that the reality would quickly wear thin. Especially in our modern motoring world where it would seem that every government is doing their utmost to remove the joy of driving from us. When Phil Morrison bought this E46 M3 as a daily driver he wanted to keep things simple and civilized. But when...

I've been a BMW owner for a very short while now --9 months to be exact. And in that short amount of time, I've found myself becoming a rather big devotee of anything that leaves the Bavarian Motor Werks factory floor. BMWs somehow balance the fine line of everyday functionality and performance drivability in one complete package. Early last month, I went to the E30 Motorwerks Show and Shine meet at the shop in Huntington Beach. There, I was greeted with all sorts of E30s. But one car stood...

BMW rolled out their concept for the new look 2012 DTM series this evening in Munich, ahead of this weekend's DTM round. New regulations for next year have been introduced to reduce costs with a standardized chassis and other parts. Aero changes will also lead to more exciting racing, back to the Golden era of 90’s DTM. This also allows 2 door coupes such as this M3 and Audi’s S5. These new regulations have already resulted in BMW Motorsport returning to the German series. The carbon...

Cars built by Fluid Motor Union have graced these pages before, including this BMW E90 M3 that I featured in November last year. The other day I got an email with an update regarding this car. FMU engineered a new velocity stack system for the car and when I looked at the shots my jaw dropped. The velocity stack has been designed and engineered in-house using AutoCAD. The end result are these beautifully sculpted aluminum stacks and arms. It's not completely finished just yet but already it has...

It's been a few months since I bought my E30 sedan. Since then, I have to admit that I have not participated in any of the usual automotive socializing. I'm a member, but do not frequent the forums, e30tech & r3vlimited and I have not gone to any E30 meets in Southern California. So, when I heard about a car show and BBQ at E30 Motor Werks, in Huntington Beach, CA, the shop where my E30 gets its maintenance work done, I knew I had to go. With previous knowledge on how meets usually work...

Here's another reader submission for Meets Month - Otto Chan from Hong Kong sent us this photo of five E36 M3's coated in BMW's signature "Dakar Yellow" color.
To bring on even more envy, Otto had to point out that these are the hot Euro versions of the E36 - not the toned down version we got here in the States.

The guys at Track Culture (the grip division of Driftworks) got their M5 V10 powered BMW E46 M3 working and decided to give it a spin outside their office. But the best thing is that they didn't only take this one picture but also made a small video for us all to enjoy. I really hope to see this car on the Nürburgring this year ! -Jeroen Willemsen

Hi guys. Well thanks for the hundreds of comments that you've been passing in my direction. The response to my SHIFT2 UNLEASHED blog posts have been so full of ideas, thoughts and questions that I've literally had to take a moment to figure out what to say. So for this blog post I'm going to try and dive in to explain some more detail first on the customization system which will hopefully answer some of your many questions. Now the whole customization system in SHIFT2 UNLEASHED is entirely...

The lightweight Super Lap version of the Volk Racing TE37 is fast becoming the wheel to have in Japan and this particular E46 BMW M3 I ran across at the HKS Premium Day this past Sunday seemed to wear its dark chrome metallic wheels very well. Don't you just love imports like this with a touch of JDMness? HKS Premium Day 2011 -Dino Dalle Carbonare

What if you had the opportunity to build the car you always wanted? For some people it would take years to eventually get a car to a certain standard. But there are also a few that are fortunate enough to have their car built to perfection in only a few months. One of these people is Martin who had driven various high powered vehicles before this BMW M3. Now it was time to personalize his car. He wanted a car that he could have fun in and use on trackdays but it also needed to be drivable on the...

This isn't the first M3 with TE37's I've seen, but there's just something about this car. Maybe it's the color? Maybe it's the clean OEM body?
Whatever it is, I'm determined that if I'm ever fortunate it enough to own an M3, a set of TE's will be my first wheel choice.

Some would consider the BMW E90 M3 as the ultimate four door grocery getter. BMW got a lot of complaints after they dropped the sedan version in the previous E46 M3 line up but with the E90 series they reintroduced the sedan version once again. The guys at Fluid MotorUnion needed a car to deliver parts and for the occasional run around, so this M3 sedan was the perfect choice. I have been in contact with Fluid Motorunion for a while and I know they don't like stock. So it didn't take them...

When you sit down with the #92 BMW driver, Tommy Milner, the thing that strikes you is just how young he is. There's aura of youth about him. But you hear him talk, you notice that he definitely does not talk like a normal 24 year old. I had the chance to talk to sit down with Tommy during the break between practice and qualifying at Mosport. Speedhunters: Who are you? Tommy: I was Tom Milner, then I became Tom Milner Jr. Which I hated because I'm not junior. So, I switched to Tommy because...

What's up SpeedHunters. It's been a busy month here for the ALMS crews. This blog is going to encompass both Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin and the second-to-last round from Mosport just outside of Toronto Canada. As it would play out, Road America was a good news / bad news scenario. With back to back weekends, Road America would put a strain on the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team... Road America was home to the team's first and only ALMS win last year. A 1-2 finish which was...

Behind the wheel of this E46 M3 we can see Phil Morrison of Driftworks fame. He has no problem driving his daily to the max on the carousel at the Nürburgring and travelling home to the UK the same day. The car is definitely scraping, hence the smoke coming from the front wheels. -Jeroen Willemsen Spotted on Scene-Media

Every once in a while, there comes a car that sets the automotive blogosphere on fire.
Surely this E30 M3 will be one of them, right?

When BMW introduced the current generation M3 a couple years ago, I was damned impressed. How could you not be? The previous model M3's were awesome, but there's something about a high-revving V8, a chassis to match, and the subtlety aggressive styling of the E92 that inspires.
Everytime I see one on the streets (and that's rather often here in LA), I can't help but stare, and roll down the window to get a hint of that exhaust note.
Being such an incredible car off the showroom floor, a sense of restraint is required when tuning an E92, and that's just what Eva has shown with her Bimmer....
