Earlier this month, while at Formula D Atlanta, two brothers came up to me and introduced themselves. They both knew how much I am a fan of Mazda's roadster offering and started talking about just how they both fell in love with the car. Then they started talking about their project Miata they were building together. One of the brothers, Andrey Filipov, was kind enough to send us photos and also briefly write about the build of their Mazda project: I ended up with this ’90 NA6 by pure chance...

Over the past few days I've been severely bitten by the bug to pick up another Mazda Roadster as project car. I'll have to wait until I have the space for another car, but browsing through all of the Roadster profiles on Minkara has only made the bug even worse. That's where I found this rather inspiring shot of a white NA on a country road in Japan. Anyone else have a car they can't get off their mind right now? -Mike Garrett...

Let's put the facts on table before we move on. This Mazda Miata isn't the greatest looking car. But that's not the point --not even the slightest. This car has been built to get around a track as fast as possible. The only thing this car was built to impress was the clock. It's a purpose built, home brew budget daily driver. Yup you heard that right. The owner, builder, and race driver, John, drives this car daily. Before any of the aero craziness you see now, John built the car...

It is no surprise that we Speedhunters love Mazda's rear-wheel drive roadster offering. It is even less of a surprise that I, of all the Speedhunters, love these quirky and happy little cars the most. So when planning started for my 18 day trip to Texas, I knew I had to contact the guys from Mayday Garage to help organize a local Miata meet in Houston. Both the Mayday guys and I posted on various forums to generate interest in the meet. The online response was a bit luke warm. But when I arrived...

It's no secret that we here at Speedhunters love the Mazda Miata. I've personally owned a few of them and although I don't have one in the garage at the moment, there are times when the urge to pick up another one is very strong. One of those moments came on Saturday when I found this gorgeous black LE Miata at the Remix Car Show at Irwindale Spedway....

Let's cut to the chase. I've never been in any car that accelerated as hard as this hairdresser's car and I've been in a lot of fast cars in my time as a speedhunter. Most of the really fast cars I've experienced were race cars of some sort. But this Mazda Roadster is born and bred to be a street car, putting down killer times at the drag strip is just a part time job for this little guy. I came across this car while perusing the pit lane of the Irwindale Thursday Night drags...

A few weeks ago, Scott drove to a giant Mazda Miata gathering at the infamous Laguna Seca race track. As he pulled his car up and parked, an older gentlemen came up to his car. Scott over heard the older gentlemen say to a fellow companion: "Oh, this car must be here for the car show!" Little did that man know just how wrong he was. He's probably never seen this "hair-dressers" car so done up so insanely! Even if other fellow petrol heads saw this car passing on the road,...

A friend of mine sent me a link this morning showing a new MX-5 special edition from Mazda of France. Designed by LK Paris, the concept seems to be capitalizing on the flat black trend, which is apparently alive and well. I'm not sure if the friendly little Roadster is the best candidate for the flat black treatment, but it's an interesting idea nonetheless. What do you think? -Mike Garrett Source: Left Lane News...

There's a never a bad time for some Miata content. This car is owned reader Ryan Cote of Florida, and is sporting a Flyin' Miata turbo kit along with supporting exhaust upgrades and some mild suspension work. Although he loves the car, Ryan says that the turbo four probably won't be around for much longer as an LS1 swap is in the cards... It seems like the V8 Miata is getting more and more popular - the Shelby Cobra of the 21st century. -Mike Garrett...

Some of you might remember that when I moved back to the US from Japan last spring, one of the first things I did was pick up a '97 Mazda Miata as weekend toy. I did a few little things to it, like installing a set of SSR MkIII's, but in the end the car ended up spending most of its life gathering dust at my house....

Hello Speedhunters! I’m Adam Wolf of dusty, deserted New Mexico. The car you’re looking at is Sharka, a 97 NA Miata in the above photo. Yes, I’m a huge dork and name my cars. But when you get to be as close to something or someone as I am to Sharka, it just makes sense have a name. See, I’ve been building Sharka for 10 years. ...

It's always interesting to see how passion can push people to create very unique cars, and this Miata from Italy is the perfect example. The owner and avid reader of Speedhunters, Filippo Pirini, has been working on his little Mazda for 3 years and plans to have the car ready in the next year or so. Filippo will compete in one of the Italian drift championships so has carefully chosen every modification to help him create a nice set-up for drifting. The NB was stripped down and stiffened up thanks...

There's this test that I do every time I see a slammed car; I call it the "Chucks" test. Any really low profile shoe will do, but my personal preference has always been a pair of classic, and worn down, Chuck Taylors. Yesterday was the first ever Left Coast Low meet in Santa Barbara, California. Of course, there were plenty of low and slammed things to feast your eyes upon, but nothing was as slammed as Harrison's NA6 Miata. The measure of a good slam, with my very scientific method...

As an old saying goes, it's more fun to drive a slow car fast, than a fast car slow. I'm not sure who coined the phrase, but in a day of twin turbo sports cars and muscle cars that can reach felony-like speeds in a matter of seconds, those words have never sounded better.Although fast cars are great, there's something wonderful about a car built for the fun of driving above all else. The 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miata is one of those cars. ...

This past month we've seen a whole slew of automobiles dropped to insane lowness. This Miata is no different. This car is like the crispy cornered pieces of brownies that only a select few actually enjoy. And just like any good brownie recipe, the best ones are always the most simple......

I was browsing one of my favorite forums, ClubRoadster.net the other day when I found a thread about an LS1-powered Mazda Miata drag car out of Mississippi. Now any time you combine a light weight rear-drive car with a powerful V8 the potential for awesomeness arises, but I noticed something about this car that I don't think the builder intended - it's likeliness to sports car-based drag cars of the '60s....

As I was walking back to my car last Thursday at FD Sonoma, I caught this crazy looking NA Miata sitting the parking lot. As a fellow Roadster owner, I couldn't help feeling that the 7.5 inch wide wheels on my own car are pretty whimpy compared to these. As you can see, this NA has had some heavy fender work to fit these wheels (Centerlines by the looks of them) and the finished product is pretty tough looking. I also LOL'd at the sticker on the windshield. -Mike Garrett...
