It's getting more and more difficult as time goes on to sift through the amount of high quality videos these days. With the DSLR revolution, it's never been easier for amatuer film makers to produce their own interpretations of the many amazing events that happen around the world. Unfortunately we can't show every submission we receive but when you get something that really makes you take notice, it would be rude not to share. Brumos Racing Team driver Leh Keen sent us this video he shot (which was subsequently edited and put together by Porsche) of his Rolex 24 at Daytona experience. From his arrival at Daytona righ through to the chequered flag, you get a real taste of what it's like to be a professional racing driver, if only for a few minutes.

Before I started my job as a full time Speedhunter, I was a regular reader of the site. Looking back, I was pretty ignorant towards many of the varying aspects of car culture. I would often just skip past things without any consideration, searching only for those stories that appealed to me and my tastes. Since coming on-board though, I've had every one of my opinions and viewpoints challenged on a daily basis. I've attended shows and events I never would have even considered previously and...

For his first video of 2012, Mr. Brooks has put together a short video feature of Jamie McToldridge's opinion splitting 'Zero-Lip' Golf. We spotlighted the G60 powered car last year at the Players Show in Essex, UK. Afterwards, you had a lot to say about the car but have any of your opinions changed since?

Back in 2008, I made the trip across the Irish Sea to the opening round of the 2008 JDM Allstars Series. The event took place at Teesside Autodrome, just outside Middlesborough in the North East of England. Anyone who has had the privilage of witnessing what Teesside was like in its earlier drifting years, will know it's a special place. For the Saturday morning of the event, the competitors were left loose on the smaller, but equally amazing, West track. During the lunch hour, Martin Ffrench...

I'm certain that any of you familiar with the World Rally Championship will recognise the name 'Kris Meeke'. Asides from being the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Champion, Meeke made his WRC debut last year behind the wheel of the new Mini JCW WRC and scored his first WRC points at Catalunya. Before his rally career went into overdrive, Meeke tried his hand at drifting at the opening round of the 2008 Prodrift Series. Behind the wheel of the WKD Imports RPS13, Meeke, who had never drifted...

Nissan Silvia S15, EDC, Modified Live, Cadwell Park, United Kingdom 1/30th, f/9, ISO100, 50mm, Canon EOS 5D MKII & Sigma 50 F1.4 This is looking like one of my last posts of 2011, so apologies if I come over all emotional and reminiscent. It has been another incredible year where I've had the opportunity to shoot some amazing events, meet great people and continue to live my dream. However, it can be a pretty demanding job at times. It might look easy from the outside - at least I thought...

Everyday we wake up, go out into the world and meet new people. But it takes a certain type of individual to really stand out and make a difference to someone's life. The automotive world is no different. So this year, we dug deep and picked out a handful of individuals that stood out and made a difference in the car world. Because at the end of the day, an automobile is just a cold hunk of metal. But it takes the beating heart of a driven and passionate personality to turn that hunk of metal into something with a soul.
Here are our nominees for the 2011 Personality of the Year and remember, vote for your pick!...

Circuit de la Sarthe, Spa-Francorchamps, Nürburgring, Silverstone, Bonneville, Irwindale, Pikes Peak, Laguna Seca. What these iconic names have in common (besides the obvious), is that they have all featured a special event which has made it into our Event of the Year category. Events make up the core of our work on Speedhunters. It's where we congregate with fellow petrolheads, discover new cars and witness the incredible world of motorsport unfold before our eyes. Which event will get...

You remember our Gatebil '11 coverage right? Even a couple of months after the fact, trying to comprehend the event is still difficult. I don't think any amount of words and photographs can precisely portray what happened at Rudskogen in July. This video by Neffi Steffan Kristensen does come close though, in accurately capturing the mayhem as it unfolded. Gatebil 2012 will be upon us sooner than we realise, will you be making the pilgrimage?

As you can probably see, our awards season is now well and truly underway. This is the first time where I've had the chance to become actively involved with the awards process. This time last year, I was too busy pulling my hair out creating the prototype art book. Having had the chance to look through the categories so far, it never ceases to amaze me the breadth of car culture we bring together here on Speedhunters. The nominations for Retro Car of the Year reflect this quite well I think....

I don't envy you guys. Having spent the past few days deliberating over your picks for the various Speedhunters Awards, this next category isn't going to be any easier. Demo Car of the Year is a closely fought award that focuses on innovation within the industry. Often ground-breaking, forward-thinking creations, demo cars are more than just vehicles showing off a company's wares. They are experiments in innovation; concepts that can spark trends and styles on a global scale. After a...

Picking up where we left off in part one, our season was now in full swing. From the humble - but rather amazing - Irish Touring Cars one weekend, to the might of the GT1 and GT3 grids the next at Silverstone. Rod had requested that I travel to the UK earlier than previously planned to shoot the NFS Z4 GT3 car for a print feature in Performance BMW magazine. There was quite a lot of red tape involved in arranging this shoot - permission to shoot on the circuit was sought first, followed by arranging the details with the team and organisers and then getting permission from Race Control to allow the car to be towed out of the pitlane in the wrong direction. The cars aren't allowed run after specified times so two of the Schubert crew had to tow the car into position with a quad. The reward for our effort was more than worth it....

On this day 25 years ago, the FIA banned Group B, a championship which was completely out of control. It was inevitable then, that the only outcome would be a permanent ban of the group. It's easy for us to look back at the untamed monsters that decimated the stages with awe but it's also easy to forget the lives that were lost. One of the only surviving Group B cars that still competes today is the MG Metro 6R4. It's certainly not pretty but it was and still remains very effective. It's rare to experience a complete stage on-board a Group B car so allow Messrs McRae and Grist to show you the Donegal countryside from aboard their three litre, six cylinder and circa-400BHP 6R4. Turn up your speakers and remember Group B ...

I'm sure some of you will be familiar with this iconic image of the three Ford GT40s crossing the finish line at Le Man in 1966. This was Ford's third attempt to conquer La Sarthe having failed previously in '64 and '65. The story goes that Henry Ford was about to purchase Ferrari from Enzo himself when the deal fell through. Ford then sought revenge. Their aim was to beat Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a race which Ferrari had won consecutively since 1960. It was looking promising for Ford in '66 with Ken Miles (car #1 above) having taken victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring already that year....

I know some of you had a joke or two at the expense of the Juke-R when it was first announced. If you've been following the build, you'll have realised by now that Nissan and RML are taking this quite seriously. The car has now reached the shakedown stage where they will try to iron out any niggles that may arise. This project has grown into something special and I can't wait to see how it turns out. I just love the fact that its being built for no other reason than they can. And yes, he did just say the car is 'road legal' ....

It's pretty hard to believe that we're already looking back at the twenty-eleven motorsport season. Although the respite in travelling and epic workloads is welcome, I'm already missing the action. Since you're reading this, I'm sure you can relate. My only regret from 2011 is not taking the time to take things in. I've had the honour of visiting and shooting some amazing events this year. I've met some pretty incredible people on my journeys and have plenty of stories that I can probably never tell in public....

The entire rallycross community has been working hard recently to put itself back on the map. When I was much younger, rallycross was one of the most popular motorsports around with fantastic live coverage on BBC's Grandstand show. Names like Schanche and Hansen were synonymous with the incredibly exciting racing. In 2010, rallycross became an official part of the X-Games and one of the men flying the flag for Europe at this year's games was England's Liam Doran. Asides from his do or...

What do you do when you have a fully-built and specced engine ready to go, but the rest of the car isn’t finished? Find another rolling shell to put it into, of course! This is Mike ‘Boxxer’ Bradley’s road-legal, 1980 Ford Escort Mk2 four-door, built for drifting, track days and general messing about. It might look tatty on the outside, but inside and underneath it’s incredibly well-specced. The engine in question is a 2.1-litre Cosworth YB, converted to normally-aspirated...

All of these recent Ford stories have me searching YouTube for videos that really show just how incredible and capable the MKII Escort is. Moll's Gap is one of the most famous Irish rallying stages and is part of the Killarney Rally of the Lakes each year. The MKII Escort is still the car that brings people out to the stages in my opinion. This is what happens when you combine one of the built MKII Escorts of all time, put it in the hands of Colin McRae and let him loose on The Gap. Pure Magic.

It's almost hard to believe that the humble MKII Escort has been around for thirty six years already. I don't think anyone could have had quite imagined the impact the car would have on the motoring world when it launched. Its simplicity has lended itself to help the Escort become one of the greatest rally cars of all time. It was successful on track too but its fame and popularity had a lot to do with the success and style of Messrs Vatanen, Mikkola, Waldegard, Clark & Co. It comes as...
