Those of you who read this site on a regular basis and have a decent attention span will be aware that the FIA GT Championship had its 2009 Media Days recently. Not only that but we got a brand new R35 Nissan GT-R for 2010's GT1 events. A new car must mean new rules have been written and agreed, well up to a point. The two days spent at the High Tech Test Track were in part to show what was offer in 2009 and to reveal the plans for 2010. New rules and new cars mean it is goodbye to the current...

The 2009 British Touring Car Championship kicks off at Brands Hatch this weekend. The BTCC is the premier racing series in the UK and consists of ten race weekends with three rounds at each event The BTCC run two classes, based on production cars. At the front, the FIA S2000 class, which allows 4-5 door cars running with engines no bigger than 2000cc. The engine can come from another car in the manufacture range, which allows teams to choose the best engine and car for racing. Bodywork, Suspension...

The 2009 Formula 1 World Championship kicks off this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. This has the potential to be one of the most open seasons ever, with new rules and regulations. A number of rules have been brought in, giving a Formula 1 car a different look. From the side, most of the aerodynamic aids have disappeared and the cars look much cleaner. However, wider front wings and narrower rear wings look out of place, even after 2 months of testing. The earlier Video post below goes into more...

With the Formula 1 season upon us, I thought it was time to bring you up to date with all the regulation changes. There are a number of wordy technical explanations around, but I found this Red Bull Video gave a good overview of the changes.

I love bare unpainted Carbon race cars, so saved this image from the Audi R15 post for a seperate random snap! From left to right, the Audi R8 'LM' GT3 racecar, the Audi R15 TDi which we featured yesterday and the Audi A4 DTM race car. Earlier today, Audi Sport took the 'official' wraps off of their new R15 TDI LMP1 racecar. Regular Speedhunters will have seen the testing image , which Audi was forced to release after a number of spy images appeared during February. The new R15 TDi's first event will be the Sebring 12 Hours in less than two weeks time. Two chassis will be entered. Audi call the R15 the first of the 'second' generation diesel race car. This new car is powered by a newly developed V10 TDI engine...

A quick follow-up post, given our World Touring Car Championship Preview, which we posted last week. Despite recent rule revisions, SEAT Sport continued their domination of the WTCC with rounds 1 and 2 of the 2009 season in Curitiba. Current champion Yvan Muller was on Pole Position for race 1, the nearest BMW in 5th place. Muller would take a lights to flag victory with team mates Jordi Gene, Rickard Rydell and Gabriele Tarquini just a couple of seconds behind. 5th place was originally Nicola Larini...

The 2009 World Touring Car Championship starts this weekend in Curitiba, Brazil with current champion, Yvan Muller hoping to retain the championship. His task will be hard. Its a competitive series and the rules have been tweaked, which has pegged back the performance of his all dominating SEAT Leon TDi. 2008 saw Yvan and SEAT finally beat Andy Priaulx run of four consecutive titles, thanks to some performance advantages with their Turbo Diesel race car. The FIA have also scrapped their 'success...

I always look out for good shots of the cockpits of racecars. Its a hard area to photograph, particularly during a busy race weekend. The 'office' for a race driver is very different from a normal road car. Here is a small selection to wet your appetite for the 2009 season of competitions. British Touring Car Championship driver Tom Chilton (above) sits in his new race car, the Team Aon Ford Focus ST. The car, developed by Arena International (who use to run the old BTCC Honda team) is typical...

Here’s a sneak peak of my new competition car for the 2009 Formula D season. The new Falken Nissan S15 Silvia. I have always been a fan of S-Chassis’. I believe that S-Chassis’s are the benchmark of drift cars and the S15 is the final evolution of the proven chassis series. This S15 has been a car that I have idolized every since I first got heavily involved with competitive drifting back in 2003. I can’t believe that it will actually be my competition car!...

I'm sitting here at my desk at work, compiling calenders for the 2009 Speedhunters motorsports year and just came across this video.... people tell me there is nothing which compared seeing D1GP in Japan..... Would you agree with that statement? I've only seen D1GP at Irwindale so I can't really comment....

With some new, exciting machines debuting this year 2009 is looking to be a cracker...

Nothing ever stays the same does it? Even if we don't actively seek change in our lives, it has its own way of finding us.... I am thinking these thoughts as we get ready to start year two of the Speedhunters project. The site has built up a good sized audience far faster than we could have ever imagined, and most of this success is down to the dedication of the Speedhunters editorial team who work tirelessly - day in and day - out to bring you the coolest bits of new school car culture from...
