In just a couple days a group of Speedhunters will be converging on Las Vegas to cover one of the largest and most influential auto events of the year - the SEMA Show.
Before we make our way to Sin City, here's just a small taste of what we can expect to see in the halls of the Las Vegas Convention Center next week....

What a hectic climax to the show and track season we have upon us this month. As Charles wrote about in his editorial post, a lot of series' and events we cover here at Speedhunters will come to a head at some stage during the next few weeks. It's an exciting time but also the break that the off-season offers will be most welcomed! As you may know, some of the European Speedhunters team have converged on Northampton where two amazing events in particular are happening this weekend. Edition38...

A Lamborghini yellow clad Mitsubishi Evolution X? You better believe it. And it’s not just the color that makes this Evo stand out. It’s the perfect blend between performance, looks, and style that make it one of a kind…...

Continuing where I left off yesterday, let's jump into the second part of my journey around the paddock and static display areas at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion. Up above you can see the tail end of the beautiful Bob Sharp-prepared Datsun 280Z....

For the next bit of coverage from the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, I want to take a break from the racing activity and share some scenes from the paddock and the surrounding car display areas. While seeing and hearing the cars on track is fantastic, it's just as fun to walk through the pits and look over these historic machines in detail....

As Speedhunters we get the opportunity to visit great automotive events all over the world. While each and every one of them is great in their own way, there are some that really stand out. Such is the case with the Rolex Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca....

As you can tell, it's been an extremely busy weekend for the global Speedhunters crew. While much of the team is on duty at Gatebil, I've been quite busy myself here in good old California. Actually, I set a personal Speedhunting record this weekend, shooting four different events in a 48-hour span. ...

Once a year for the past four years, Modified has been hosting a no holds barred track car shootout held in Phoenix Arizona at Firebird Raceway to see what the best cars in the country are capable of and how they stack up amongst each other. What makes this event unique and unlike any other track comparo is that not only do we push these cars and their drivers on the track, both time attack and autocross, but we also put them up against the dyno and ¼ mile drag strip. Because of the grueling...

The weekend sees the 2011 British Touring Car Championship swing into action at Brands Hatch. The British series is one of the most entertaining to watch and also has well produced TV coverage in the UK, which is also available in many other countries. It is a competitive series. 2010 saw 9 different winners and a championship which went down to the wire. Most Touring car series are in the process of change and the British series is no exception. As is now tradition, the BTCC decided to go their...

The opening round of the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi is upon us. Speedhunter’s Jonathan Moore is currently en-route to Abu Dhabi, so in the meantime, time for a quick preview for the 2011 Championship. Run by the SRO organization, this is the second year of this new look FIA GT1 Championship. The series visits 10 countries this year with races in the Middle East, China, Europe and South America. It has been a tough closed season for the series. 2010...

The 59th running of the 12hours of Sebring takes place this weekend and will kick off a series of GT racing previews on Speedhunters. This year, the Sebring Endurance race plays host to the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the regular American Le Mans Series. It makes for a packed grid of 56 cars, with a confusing number of classes…. Most cars are entered in one or the other series. A few, such as BMW are running in both. Confusing! The Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) is a series of Endurance...

When it comes to AWD and 4-doors, two cars mostly come to mind, the Mitsubishi Evolution and the Subaru WRX or STI. Both the Evo and STI are very closely matched in performance and price but what happens if you can’t afford one? A WRX is a very worthy substitution. Soon though, that WRX slowly begins to get modified and transformed to match its brethrens performance. Eventually, with enough determination and perseverance, the WRX becomes an STI and EVO killer, just like the one you see here...

The 2011 World Rally Championship gets underway this Thursday with an all-new look. In summary, the FIA have introduced a new formulae. With similar regulations to the World Touring Car Championship, they will be using smaller engine 1600cc turbocharged cars. The cars themselves will have a bodykit and limited aerodynamic devices. All WRC cars remain four wheel drive and will have sequential gearboxes. Six time world Champion, Citroen return with their new DS3 model for Sébastien Loeb and...

A purpose built race car is usually a sight to behold but in the age of livery and aero packages, the essence of a car in stock form is all but lost. However, everyone once in a while a perfect example of an unmolested stock appearing race car will come along and this R32 from Pro Stock is it. On the inside there’s few things that remain untouched though, it’s all business in here. A worthy note is that the stock ECU still remains and is the sole management controlling the engine, which...

Some of you will call this blasphemous while others will say that it's a very worthy engine swap but no matter what your opinion on this LS2 V8-swapped 350Z, the fact is that it’s a missile in a straight line and that’s why it graces our engine swap themed February cover. What really attracted us to this car is how tame and understated the exterior looks. For the average passerby this 350Z has wheels and a moderate lowered stance. If one were to look harder though, they would notice...

Just got this nice series of pictures from Ichishima-san over at Spoon Sports. Their new CR-Z race car shell has just returned back to the Type-One workshop after getting prepped before the full build begins. This is the car Ichishima-san will drive later in the year at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill and will be unlike any hybrid anyone has ever seen! The chassis has been prepared to Japanese Super Taikyu specs, spot welded and stiffened... ...ready to be fitted with special lightweight Spoon body parts...

Southern California - the automotive epicenter of the United States, and possibly the world.
Where else in the span of 30 hours, and a total distance of about 50 miles can you visit a routine gathering of classics, exotics, and other automotive gems , watch fat-tired muscle cars navigate a tight autocross course, and finish up with a visit to the world's biggest all-Honda gathering?...

Has it already been a year since I moved back to the US and started covering the 2009 FD season?
I remember thinking that '09 was the most exciting year in FD history, but it's already looking like 2010 will crank things up at least another notch or two.
Activity has already started down at the Long Beach street course, so it's time to take a look at the season to come....

The 2010 Edition of the British Touring Car Championship kicks off at my old ‘home’ circuit, Thruxton this weekend. Despite Vauxhall departing as a works outfit and the current non-appearance of Champion, Colin Turkington it should be another strong exciting championship with a 23 entry field. The BTCC consists of 30 rounds at 10 venues across England and Scotland. The series allows FiA S2000 cars (some with national dispensation), older ‘BTC’ style cars and a new class which...
