There was no ignoring the underlying Hybrid theme at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon. With Toyota shifting more than ever hybrids in the home market it's no surprise tuners are beginning to take notice. Soon the Honda CR-Z will be with us, the first hybrid sports car and the first to use a manual transmission. Later in the year Nissan will launch the hybrid version of the Fuga (Infiniti M) that will no doubt be a worthy candidate for some VIP style. Add to this the already vast Toyota and Lexus...

There is just no denying that many top Japanese tuners have fully turned their attention to ECO cars. The Honda Insight and Toyota Prius are gaining in popularity so the tuners have been quick to hop on this trend. When I was at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon walking amongst the gobs of GT-R's, Evos and such, my eye was struck by this dark blue Toyota Prius that was in the Yokohama Tire booth. The car was built by Mooncraft which is one of Japan's oldest race car designers and has worked in many forms of motorsport including Super GT and Formula Nippon. With gas prices soaring around the world and growing concern about the enviornment, Mooncraft's latest project is part of the "Eco Tuning" movement......
