Today Mad Mike Whiddett and 9 top level D1NZ drivers cruised the streets of Auckland, NZ to raise funds for a good cause. Local New Zealand drift fan, Daniel Baxter was diagnosed with cancer last year but with the help of the D1NZ crew, drivers and New Zealand Police, he was given something sure to bring some happiness, in what can only be described as a very difficult time for him and his family. Daniel rode shotgun in one of the police cars, leading the convoy while the passenger seats in the drift...

I thought I'd post this shot, as I turn my attention to the upcoming Daytona 24Hs, a race which has gone through many different allegiances and phases over the years. As we enjoy this photo together, let's think back to simpler times and imagine the sound that this little GTU racer made while screaming around the Daytona banking!...

At the Meister Cup, Looking blessed us with the presence of not only their AE86 but also this unique machine. So the following week, we popped down to Looking for a closer look at their RX-7. I won't ramble on too much about the workshop as we will be taking a closer look at it this month. As Asayan knew we were coming to visit the workshop he organised for the RX-7 to come down for me to grab some photos of it to share with you guys. Nissan trainspotters will be able to pick the wheels. Custom...

I'm sure you are familiar with "Sassy's" SA22C RX-7 out of Japan. We've shown the car a couple times over the past few years, and recently it was put up for sale. This one-off IMSA style beast is on the market for 1980000 yen, or about USD$24,000. International shipping is being offered, so it'll be interesting to see where this RX-7 ends up! For more info and a full spec-list, check out the Japanese for sale site right here. Who's down? -Mike Garrett

Here we go with part two of my coverage of the Japanese Car Festival at Circuit Park Zandvoort. The R33 Skyline owners were out in full force. The cars ranged from the GTS version to the top of the line GT-R model. This very wide 350Z belonged to Tim Coronel, the twin brother of Tom Coronel who races in the WTCC. Tim used the car later in the day for a drift demonstration. A completely different 350Z was this version built by Fullcartuning. To fill the grid of the Time Attack, the organizers invited...

Last month, Justin Pawlak's FC3S RX7 was stolen here in the LA area along with his truck and trailer. Now losing our car is something that all of us fear, but for JTP it was a different story. He didn't just lose an automobile, he lost a chapter of his life....

Last week I took a ride up to nearby Gardena to visit Formula Drift competitor and RX7 maniac Justin Pawlak's shop - Hot Line. Hot Line has has been doing business in the LA area for almost a year and half now, and I was long overdue for a visit. ...

There aren't tons of cars out there that you can apply the term "timeless" to, but the Mazda FD3S RX7 is certainly one of them. It is considered to not only be one of Mazda's best designs, but one of the best Japanese car designs of all time. Need some proof?
Let's have a look at Speedhunters reader Ty Isaak's FD from Queensland, Australia. ...

Here's a cool little video feature from our friends at Motive DVD.
What better way to change it up from our Silvia overload earlier this week than with some classic rotary action?

These cars look absolutely awesome in a Time Attack outfit. The black exterior and exposed carbon make this car look real sinister. If I was Batman I would feel right at home behind the steering wheel, who needs a Murciélago anyway? -Jeroen Willemsen

Brace yourselves, as you are about to enter into what can only be described as rotary heaven! This is a place where tiny little Wankel engines are made to do incredible things when bolted down into equally impressive, purposely built chassis. I am of course talking about PAC Performance , the next stop in our Australian drag racing shop tour. When Rod and I pulled up in front of the PAC workshop in a brand new red R35 GT-R we probably got some weird looks as this was in all effect, rotary-only land...

It was so refreshing seeing a track full of Roasters last week in Sendai. I often see the one-make series at Tsukuba where a field of almost stock NCs go against each other in a series of tightly fought races, but the highly tuned cars at the Roaster and Rotary Meeting were just on another level, managing to keep up with a lot of RX-7s out on track. These little Mazdas definitely have a lot of potential, which is precisely why I will have to try and find more to shoot in Japan. One of the nicest...

If it hadn't been for Komoriya-san of Pan Speed I would have never heard of the Roadster and Rotary Meeting. This little gathering of Mazda's greatest cars is held every year at one of my favorite tracks in Japan, Sendai Hi-land . This is the circuit Nissan used to develop the R35 GT-R, and continue to test there year in and year out to fine tune the handling of the big supercar, before heading to the Nordschleife for record braking attempts. It's a demanding little track with a great...

You are probably looking at one of the nicest RX-7s that will be on display at the 2011 Rotorstock Show in the UK next year. Responsible for building this car is Miguel at Newera Imports , one of the most established sport car exporters in Japan. Under strict instructions from his customer, Miguel was to look for the perfect, low-mileage RX-7. After much searching through the massive car auctions that are held in Japan each week Miguel secured the right car, a 1997 FD3S with 47,000 km (29,000 miles...

This insane FD RX7 is owned by Speedhunters reader Johnny Humphrey from Auckland, New Zealand. You see, Johnny is a buddy of Mad Mike's, and somehow was able to convince Mike to give up the Work Equips off the Madbul RX7.
Once Johnny had the Equips in hand, he pretty much built the car around them, resulting in the wide body beast you see here.
As for the wheels, the sizes are 18x11 +0 in the front, and 18x12 -15 out back, with a 40mm spacer for good measure.
Yikes.

I've always had a soft spot for the FD3S. The levels and styles of modification they appear never ceases to amaze me. From low slung, smooth cruisers to aggresively kitted Time Attack inspired cars, you very rarely see two modified the exact same way. Take this car for example. The remains of insects attached to the front suggest it's more than just a show piece. Late spec lights, lots of vents for adequate cooling (These rotaries can get quite hot apparently) Anyone want to hazard a guess...

The FD3S is such a timeless design and together with the FEED bodykit, it looks fresh even today. The Work XD wheels works wonders on the overall appearance of the car. -Jeroen Willemsen spotted on PhilsCarBlog

Well it's July 7th, and in Japan RX7 owners and enthusiasts use the day to celebrate their favorite rotary sports car.
Our friend Sassy at 22C Works just sent us a bunch of images from a recent club gathering....

Earlier today we ran a spotlight on a pretty sweet 180SX . This evening we run another spotlight on an equally sweet FD3-S. The owner of this fine FD is Rick Weldon, brother to Keith Weldon who own's the aforementioned 180SX. The paint on this RX7 is insane, the finish is just superb. The exterior has been graced with a Veilside kit with Origin front vented front wings. The bonnet is a carbon fibre item, painted to match the rest of the car. Has the trend of unpainted carbon begun to fall away...
