Shooting at the Nürburgring is always a special occasion. Shooting a grid of classic and retro motors as they battle for position around the Grüne Hölle is honestly an experience no other. To be honest, I knew little of the Ring Classic until attending last year's twenty four hour race and to say it left an impresssion would be quite an understatement. What's strange is how difficult it is to find information about the race anywhere. Even in the press centre here, there there...

I was casually browsing the interwebs earlier when I came across news that Renault has claimed a new lap record for a production specification FWD car around the Nordschleife. A lap time of 8:07.79 was more than good enough to beat the record which, incidentally, they already held. The car used was the new Renault Sport Megane 265 Trophy and with just 265BHP on tap, it puts into perspective just how much of an acheivment this is. This 'grocery getter' lapped the infamous circuit quicker than a host of other so-called supercars ...

The Formula One season starts this weekend in Bahrain and given our F1 preview was so popular last year, it is time for Speedhunters bring you a brief preview for the 2010 season. Biggest changes surround World Champions, past and present. The 2009 World Drivers Champion, Jenson Button, left Brawn GP at the end of 2009 to join McLaren Mercedes, where Lewis Hamilton is firmly entrenched. It is going to be a challenge for Jenson to get into the tight McLaren-Hamilton relationship and beat Lewis…but...

Remember this post? I asked if you could guess the Chase car. After looking through the comments in the first post, it seemed that Muzaffar had the first correct answer. It was indeed the Renault Clio RS. A nice detail is that the Clio is almost 10.000 pound cheaper in the UK.

The track they tested the cars on was at Millbrook circuit.

The 2009 Formula 1 World Championship kicks off this weekend in Melbourne, Australia. This has the potential to be one of the most open seasons ever, with new rules and regulations. A number of rules have been brought in, giving a Formula 1 car a different look. From the side, most of the aerodynamic aids have disappeared and the cars look much cleaner. However, wider front wings and narrower rear wings look out of place, even after 2 months of testing. The earlier Video post below goes into more...

We've looked at some very expensive vehicles, lets look at some more affordable debuts from Geneva earlier this week. In Europe, the hot-hatch is popular. Ford's new Focus RS appears to be the new king, but hot on their heels are two new cars from Alfa Romeo and Renault. The Renault Megane RS250 is the latest 'RenaultSport' creation, this time using the new Megane Coupe which made its debut last year at the Paris Motor Show. The new car has a new 2 Litre 16 valve engine which develops...

.... Or should I say, the future was there?... Someone mentioned the Espace F1 in relation to the Renault Megane Trophy yesterday so I thought it would be fun to dig up this video clip.... This F1 powered, mid-engined monstrosity certainly makes the VIP style vans coming out of Japan look a bit tame doesn't it?

I remember reading an article about the Espace F1, back in 1995 where it was stated the car would do lap times as fast as a Group C prototype.... imagine that!

Hmmm.... I'm thinking that Speedhunters should try and make it out to a round of the Megane Trophy this year.... Would make a cool film don't you think? :Rod

In the second of our two part retrospective, we look at the second half of the 1990's in the British Touring Car Championship. If you missed the first part, then you can catch it here . With the help of images from BTCC.net and Peter Still Photographic, we rejoin the action from '96 season. BMW, Renault, Vauxhall, Ford and Honda were joined by Audi for the '96 Season. Audi Sport UK would dominated the series, thanks to their four wheel drive A4 quattro. The extra traction gave them more...

Happy new year and welcome to 2009. What better way that to look back to the 1990's with the help of BTCC.net and Peter Still Photographic archives. Many Touring Car fans would classify the ‘Super-Turing’ era as the golden era of Touring Car Championships, although the competition in recent years runs this era close. The man in the street believed his Ford Mondeo ‘rep’ car was the same, as one Nigel Mansell would drive in 1998. They were worlds apart, but customers and...

The London Motor Show kicks off this week and a number of debuts are planned. Although a shadow of its former self, the show is still important due to the large number of cars sold in the UK. Honda OSM Concept Honda say its just a concept, but this 'low-emission' roadster is S2000 size. Much nicer in form than many recent Honda designs. For a concept, its very well resolved and almost ready for Production. It reminds me of the Lotus Elan from 1989. Most obvious if you compare the image above...
