This is Andy Priaulx MBE, Husband to a fantastic wife, father to two gorgeous kids but then I would say that ; racing driver from an early age racing almost everything from Motorbikes and power boats to formula one cars, currently racing in the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) having won the title three times in a row now trying to win it back. My experience of GT racing is also varied but my greatest success was to win the Nurburgring race in 2005 with Said, Lamy and Husiman, to master the...

The sky was already emptying out its emotions when we arrived onto the track in the morning. Water literally flowed down the parking lots and access streets around the circuit, and as Rod and I hurried into the media tower, we tried our best to walk around deep rivers and ponds that quickly formed from the morning down pour. As we stepped into the dry and warm building, the sensation of wet socks was the first thing that greeted us. I looked down at my watch, and it wasn't even 7am yet.... The...

"Blow,Winds and crack your cheeks! Rage! Blow! You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout til you have drenched our steeples, drown'd the cocks!" I did not actually see King Lear out in the storms that hit Road Atlanta during the middle of the Petit Le Mans last Saturday but I saw plenty of candidates for the role of the Fool, me for one. Sitting in the warm, dry media centre contemplating a two hour session in the pit lane, I looked at the weather radar on John Dagys' computer and could...

When you have the time to actually witness a professional racing team do what they do throughout the course of the day, you can't help but to feel intimidated. I had the honor of being a guest with the BMW American Le Mans team and had the opportunity creep, snoop, and stalk the team and their drivers throughout the course of the weekend. This being my first real motorsport and the first non-rice event I've shot, there was a bit of a culture shock as I started to experience the world of real...

Friday dawned in Georgia with those of us sporting media track access passes dragged from our beds to attend the mandatory photo meeting. Coffee and grumbles were, as ever, the order of the day at the hot and steamy Road Atlanta track. On the circuit things had a familiar ring, with BMW topping the GT2 class during the final practice session. And still at the top of the timesheets was the #08 Peugeot. Plus ca change............... Friday at Petit Le Mans is also the day when the fans can get up close...

Watching race cars getting flogged through a race track during the day is already a pulse pounding experience, but watching the same cars getting the same amount of abuse during the pitch dark is a completely different sort of visual, and audio sensation. All your senses are on edge as you wait for each car to fly through a corner at full speed. You start to identify the each car by their headlights and each cars' signature engine note as they pass through your corner. It is a truly an extraordinary...

Yes, it is time for SpeedHunters' Petit Le Mans coverage to start in earnest. Hartsfield International, Atlanta's airport will be Check-Point Charlie for Motorsport pros this weekend. Heading East will be Linhbergh who should hook up with a West bound Rod later today. Me? I am already here in the humid confines of Road Atlanta. The official sessions leading up to the race are now underway, so here is a quick look at what is to come. SpeedHunters will be looking at all aspects of the event...

Apparently things were pretty rainy today during Formula D practice and qualifying in New Jersey - rainy enough to postpone qualifying until tomorrow morning.
For now though, you can enjoy this fresh video featuring the Drift Alliance crew in action at Road Atlanta last month.

And now for one last look at Formula Drift Atlanta, this time with photos from the Top 16 through the finals.
The Top 32 was full of surprises and close battles, and the remainder of the compeition would bring more of the same as night fell over Road Atlanta....

With all the VW-Audi stories I've been working on over the past week, I still have a bit of Formula Drift coverage that I need to post from last weekend at Road Atlanta. After reading some of the other blogs and forums out there some are calling this the best FD Atlanta ever or even the best Formula Drift event ever. Personally, I haven't been to enough FD events to make a claim like that, but last weekend's event was certainly exciting.
On that note, let's take a look at some of the battles from the Top 32 tandem competition....

Less than a month after the 2009 Formula Drift season kicked off in Long Beach, Team Falken headed to the green hills of Georgia last weekend for the second round of FD action at Road Atlanta. The unforgiving Long Beach course presented some challenges to the new and improved Falken drift team, but now that the drivers had some seat time and the crews had a chance to adjust the cars, everyone was looking to step things up in Atlanta. Late in the week, the two Falken transporters (one from California and one from nearby North Carolina) arrived at Road Atlanta to unload and prepare for a long weekend of drifting action....

I just got back last night from my first ever trip to Road Atlanta for the second Formula D round of 2009, and now that I've had a bit of sleep to replenish myself let's take a look at some of the scenes from the event. Before I get to the drifting itself, I just wanted to say how nice the atmosphere is at Road Atlanta. As a first-timer, I enjoyed both the track's beautiful green scenery and the laid back "Southern Hospitality" that you feel there. The majority of the FD cars and drivers may be the same, but Formula D Atlanta has a completely different vibe than you feel at a place like Irwindale or Long Beach. You'll see some of what I'm talking about in this post....

You probably already know this after following our live Twitter feed from Formula D Atlanta, but Chris Forsberg just drove his 350Z convertible to victory after an intense battle with Darren McNamara. This was just one of the many exciting matches that went down this evening at Road Atlanta. Congrats to Chris as well as second place driver Darren McNamara and third place driver Ryan Tuerck.
Stay tuned for full coverage from Formula Drift Atlanta.

If you've been keeping an eye on the site over the past couple days, you've probably noticed my lack of posting. Well, there's a good reason for that. Yesterday I spent the day flying across the country to Atlanta for round two of Formula Drift and I spent today in the sticky heat at Road Atlanta shooting qualifying and practice. As usual, I'm covered in rubber and in bad need of a shower, but here's some pics and results from day one of FD Atlanta....

Thanks to a tip from Matt who is one of our readers, we found a few pics of the Rahal Letterman BMW M3 ALMS test session at Road Atlanta last week. This marked the North American debut of the BMW which will be making its competition debut in the GT2 class at the upcoming Sebring race. The car has been seen at a lot of auto shows this year, and its nice to finally see it out on the track. Just look at it! Is this car not one of the toughest looking ALMS cars out there?...

Formula Drift at Road Atlanta is a bit different than the other events in the series. You can definitely feel the difference when you're there. From the look and feel of Road Atlanta's unpaved parking lot (people have to park in the dirt or in the grass, so don't bring your limited Nike Dunks to Road A!), to Road Atlanta's version of Formula D grandstands (a steep dirt hillside), you can tell that the horseshoe section of Road Atlanta used for drifting is more of a track for drivers...
