One of the biggest divides within the automotive community in recent times has been the constant and continuing argument regarding form and function, stance and performance. So many believe you can either have one or the other but never both. It still amazes me how riled up some can get over this difference in opinions and the amount of hate that can be generated. On one side of the argument, you have those who are primarily interested in aesthethics and creating something which can be seen as an...

Making a car better than it was intended by the makers is hard thing to do. But I have a feeling that Toby Broadfield , the owner of this car, has come very close. The list of things that Toby has done to this car is endless and I can only scratch the surface in this spotlight. So I'll start right away. The first items that caught my eye are the massive Work S1 wheels. They are three piece items in 18"x9.5 +12 at the front and 18"x11 +30 in the rear. The original lug nuts have been...

Resurrected - to be restored to life . Like all good cars, this one has a story too. Some of you may remember the Nexen Tires purple AE86 that competed quite successfully in Prodrift for a number of years in the hands of one Dennis Healy. The car you see in front of you is not that car. The car affectionately known as 'Barney' ( as in the dinosaur ) met it's end last year at the top fourth gear into a tire wall. Needing a break from competition but still wanting to have a competitive...

I managed to quickly grab a couple of car spotlights at last months Prodrift round at Punchestown . I'm going to open with this AE86 car that was competing in the non-seeded pro category. It featured an SR20DET with a v-mounted intercooler, similar to that of Darren McNamara's Falken SR86. In fact, I'm nearly sure that this car was created by the hands at MCNSPORT but I'm not 100% on that. Maybe Darren might pop in and leave us a comment to confirm ? Work Meisters always look good...

My Car Spotlight features from Australia are far from over, as Rod and I seemed to encounter crazy machinery wherever we ended up going. On the Wednesday night, the day before the World Time Attack Challenge practice day, we headed to the Eastern Creek drag strip to check out the regular mid-week drag event. We got the tip from Rocky over at Pac Performance who mentioned there is always a pretty large turnout. With rain on the forecast and a trade show taking up most of the paddock however not a...

I was asked recently to pour over some JDM magazines and get a feel for them. I have to say, I love seeing the high level of tune on the JDM rides in the magazines. They have such a diverse scene over there. Truth be told, the majority of the drift scene appears to revolve around Nissan Silvia's and 1 & 2-JZ powered Toyotas, but there is also a fair bit of coverage to be had on the other players in the scene as well. Drift Tengoku as a magazine drops right into the mix as a more feature focused...
