Yesterday we looked at World Racing's preparation for the 2010 season, and now it's time to catch up with another Scion race car - the Papadakis/Rockstar tC drift car driven by Tanner Foust....

Last week I headed over to the World Racing shop in Torrance to check with in the guys as they readied Chris Rado's time attack Scion tC for the upcoming season. It turned out the car would actually be seeing some dyno time that day, so the scheduling had worked out perfectly....

Just saw some cool shots of this Scion xB on wheresneek . It belongs to one of the members at bB Squad. Taking photos is one thing but finding a cool location to shoot them is a whole different ball game. It all depends on where you live I guess. -Jeroen Willemsen

I'll finish up blogging about my recent trip to California with a quick story about the journey from the hotel to the airport this past Monday. The plan was to drop off the NFS Terlingua off at Shelby's LA HQ and take a cab to LAX, but this isn't exactly how things turned out. So here we are parking up the Mustang for another sad good bye. The giant SUV belongs to everyone's favourite Scion stalwart, Chris Rado. Some of you may remember we featured this supercharged 600 hp truck exactly...

Chris Rado's Scion tC certainly has a lot of people talking this year... Whether it's discussions about the functionality and aesthetics of the fwing, or stories about him lighting up his front wheels in 6th gear on the straight at Nashville, this machine certainly has raised some eyebrows. It's also the most extreme and powerful front wheel drive time attack car on the planet. Chris seems rather happy to have gobs of power under his right foot... it's said that the Scion now has...

April is themed Drift Month on Speedhunters, but it seems like we've been a little distracted with all the Long Beach GP coverage on the site... I probably should have also visited some Drift shops like Garage Boso while I was in LA last week, but didn't quite get around to that... oh well -- next time!... I did make it out to three shops though: Twins Turbo Motorsport, SOCAL Speed Shop and Chris Rado's World Racing. They aren't drift shops per se, but I think you'll be pleased...

Besides all the motorsport action going on this month, the auto show circuit is rolling on with the New York Auto Show this week. I've been keeping an eye on the news coming out of New York, and one of the cars I thought was worth a post here is the Scion iQ Concept. This concept is of course based on the Toyota iQ which is already on sale in Europe and Japan. There haven't been any details released on a production version of the iQ for the US market, but this particular car is the most heavily modified iQ I've seen yet....

I was browsing through some photos that were sent to us from the "Boxed in the Smokies" Scion gathering that was held in Tennessee last month when I saw this flat black xB slammed do the ground on a set of painted Sportmax wheels. People have built xB's in just about every way possible, but there's something about this car's hot rod meets VIP meets Mad Max vibe... More photos from Boxed in the Smokies '09 -Mike Garrett

I have to admit that this car is really starting to catch my interest. Whether it's this car or Chris Rado's time attack projects, it's really amazing what people are doing with the Scion tC platform.
Now if we can get Scion to inject just a fraction of this attitude into the street-going tC...

If you have been following Speedhunters regularly, then you've likely read about Chris Rado and the World Racing team's adventures with their Scion tC time attack car. The team has been hard at work redoing the car for the 2009 time attack season, and I just spoke with Chris a bit about some of the updates they are doing to for the new season. From what he's told me, this car will truly be bringing American-built time attack cars to a whole new level....

The ultra-compact Toyota iQ has long been rumored to become part of Toyota's US lineup, and it looks like we might be getting some official word on this at the New York Auto Show next month. The iQ won't actually be sold in the United States as a Toyota, but as the latest addition to the Scion line. Scion hasn't released any specs on the USDM version of the iQ yet, but their press release says they will be showing a "micro sub-compact" concept, which is exactly what the iQ is. According to Scion's press release, "the concept reflects Scion's youthful image and represents a new segment for the brand aimed toward the growing urbanization trend"....

Ever since the brand was first launched by Toyota Motor Sales, Scion has been recognized for its brilliance in grassroots and guerrilla marketing, partnering up with car builders in the import aftermarket scene and youth lifestyle brands like URB to help promote the strong branding to the youth market. Scion has also released limited production "themed" cars to make certain models of its cars more exclusive. Apparently, the exclusive car for this year will be the Scion tC Release Series...

Just found a bunch of pictures of this Scion on Driftworks (take a look for more). When I scrolled down I was shocked to see a picture where the Xb had burned to the ground in a possible garage fire. I haven't got any more info just these pictures..... That would be the worst day in my life seeing my cars burnt. I hope the owner is okay and already planning his next car. -Jeroen Willemsen

Welcome to Las Vegas, Nevada... the city of lights and sin; built on gambling money, financed 40+ years ago by by some pretty entrepreneurial gangsters. It's only fitting that Sin City is turning out to be the home of some pretty gangster wheel fitment, as made evident by Paolo Luna and his other friends from the Royal Flush crew. I first met Paolo last year through Vegas Ray, the Royal Flush ringleader and owner of a pretty crazy fitment-having S13. Their crew has quite a few nicely done cars...

Happened to have the camera with me the other day when I saw this Toyota bB at the mall. What struck me most are the wheels, which are the DAMD x Head "Lover Soul", a rare wheel highly desired by Honda and Scion owners in the USA. When I saw the wheels and the billet grill on the front, I thought the owner of this bB might be going for the so-called "USJDM" look, which is based on "JDM style" cars from the United States. For another example of how dedicated some of the USJDM guys are, I recently saw a photo of a bB in Japan complete with an imported set of 15" Sport Max wheels and a Yakima roof rack to nail the "SoCal JDM" style......

Sometime I really envy you guys from the States when I look at the cars on different car shows. Take the Wekfest 2009 gathering, the kind of cars that show up at this event is something I can only dream in Holland. The type of builds and the cars all together is something I will never see on European shores. Luckily for me there is internet so I can look at all these fine builds and especially sharing the cars with our Speedhunter readers. I have been looking through numerous galleries on flickr...

Scion XBs are everywhere. The newest generation Scion XBs have a much roomier interior, but for some reason, I prefer the exterior of the first generation Scion XBs, aka Toyota bB. A few years back when I was emceeing a Drift Showoff event in Houston Texas, I spotted this burgundy XB in the carshow. I just had to grab a photo of it with my point n shoot Canon SD800IS. I love the attention to detail... the grill, the visors, the sidemarkers, the cleanliness of the lip spoiler and sideskirts, and especially...

When Toyota first launched the Scion xB (AKA Toyota bB) in the US several years ago, it was marketed heavily to those who like to "personalize" their car. That means that there's lots of modified ones out there, and unfortunately a lot of them are quite tacky. Luckily, there are also a lot of tastefully done versions out there, and someone recently gathered a bunch of them up or a photoshoot. I spotted this photo in the Clubroadster.net "Dope Sh*tzzz!" thread, but don't have any other info. Any of our xB readers have more info on this meet? Whatever the story is, it's quite a display....

My final race of the 2008 season was the Super Street Super Lap Battle finale out at Buttonwillow. My team and I really wanted to finish the season off with a bang and do well in this last event. This event had a huge turnout and had drivers from all over the world there to compete. Our team knew that not only would our tC need to be on-point for this event, but that we needed to strategize a game plan because of some of the mechanical limitations of our car. We needed a plan that would allow us...
