Now that we've had a look at the repair and restoration facilities at Canepa Design, it's time to take a little browse through the main showroom.
As you've probably gathered by now, this isn't just any car showroom. It's one filled with some of the most desirable vehicles on the planet.
Let's take a look....

In yesterday's post I introduced the magnificent Canepa Design facility in Scotts Valley California, and shared just a few of the iconic cars which can be found inside.
Now let's continue the tour with a detailed look through the workshop area.
Prepare to be amazed....

In my journeys as a Speedhunter, I've had the chance to visit all sorts of car collections and shops. From gritty Hot Rod builders to factory collections with floors so clean you could eat off them, I've seen just about everything.
There was nothing, however, that could prepare me for what I saw last month when I visited Canepa Design....

When you see a finished product, no matter what it may be, it is hard to imagine all the planning, conceptualizing and work that went into it. Designers have always said that the best designed products are the ones that look like they haven't been designed at all. Take for example, products made from a personal electronics company with a fruit as its name and logo, any Braun house appliance, or a high-end sports car. Thousands of hours have gone into the creation of these various things and it's...

Time for our second look at the car manufacturers that were part of SEMA. You can read Part One here , where we looked at Chevrolet and Scion amongst others. Although small, Mazda had a great line-up of cars on their stand. Tucked away from the main halls, the North American Division showed two MX-5 concepts, both of which were great executions. Similar in concept to the recent Porsche Boxster Spyder, the Mazda MX-5 Spyder has a simple canopy roof, which transforms the profile of the car. The new...

The supercar displays at the FIA GT races always provide a mouth-watering array of cars to gawp at even before you make it to the race paddock: they're a great way to remind you that the DNA of what you see on the track invariably has a road car origin – and that the racecars in turn influence their road-going sisters. So far this year the quantity of cars on display at the races has varied from minimal but rare-as-hen's-teeth to a sensory overload of svelte Euro metal, with everything...

A few weeks ago when I was in Portland for the regional SCCA races, I snapped a few pictures of some of the interesting machines that showed up at the track. Grab some nachos and a slurpee and let's have a look shall we? Winner of the noisiest car of the entire weekend goes to this two-stroke Saab. Man did that thing sputter and spew blue smoke. Pretty neat though; you don't see those very often! I'm a fan of Porsches, particularily vintage ones, and have always loved the looks of the...

While most of the Speedhunters team is busy covering exotic automotive events on opposite sides of the globe, I'm back here in good old California feeling slightly jealous of those global trekkers. No worries though, because there's plenty more cool stuff to be found around here - like the flat black machine you see above....

I've got a few more posts to churn out before the year's up. First up, I want to quickly share this special set of photos with you. They were taken by our in-house artiste-as-photographer: Linhbergh Nguyen this past April at the birthplace of hot rodding: the El Mirage Dry Lakes . Those of you familiar with the history of Hot Rodding will know that it's at locations like the El Mirage dry lakes in the Mojave Desert where the pioneers of the scene first organized land speed record top...

With the Mustang, Ford is in possession of a very valuable property: a modern car with soul and character. Think about it: the vast majority of car companies these days make all of their models with uniform styling features. It's even hard to distinguish between different cars of the same class these days. It's for this reason I've developed a bit of a soft spot for this retro macho machine, especially the hotted up versions that companies like Shelby and now RTR are putting out. The...

After unveiling the all new 2010 Mustang at the LA Auto Show in November, Ford has wasted no time moving on to the "flagship" version of the Mustang, the Shelby GT500. The new GT500 will appear at the the Detroit Auto Show this month and is packing a lot of improvements over the old GT500. For starters, if the 500hp of the old car wasn't enough for you, there's more of that. The 2010 GT500 will now make 540hp and 510 foot lbs of torque from its supercharged 5.4 liter V8....

OK, so perhaps the title of this post is a bit misleading. I was only five years old when Riverside International Raceway closed for good in 1989, but after reading through Frank Sheffield's website about the track, it almost feels like I was there. Frank used to work at the track and he has put together a very thorough site that chronicles the track and its history. Since October is Socal month on Speedhunters, it is the perfect time for a little look back at one of the Southern California's most historic car spots. When I asked Frank if we could use some of his gathered material for this story, he said that in his view every bit of motorsport history should belong to everyone. With that said, let's take a look back at RIR....

Damn!!! Look at this impressive display of tail! There were a ton of Ford GTs in attendance at this past weekend's Cars & Coffee meet in Irvine. I rolled out there with my friends Jover, Mickey, and Scott, who all work in the automotive industry. Jover, Mickey, and Scott had never been to Cars & Coffee... Jover is one of my AE86 friends from Toronto (Canada), Mickey had always been previously out of town every weekend for Falken Tire Motorsports events, and Scott had always been out visiting his Kumho Tire clients or spending time with his newborn baby, Mikala.
Good thing my friends made it out, because their interest in the event motivated me to go too! And it's a good thing we went! I was on the hunt for some cool American musclecars to shoot for Speedhunters, and we definitely saw a ton of them at this weekend's event!...
