Just found this video in which you can see Sean McInerney lapping Silverstone in a BMW M1 Procar. It has been shot in HD so I suggest you turn up your sound system and listen to that straight six scream. The engine sound is one of the best in the world.

It's the last round of this year's Le Mans Series: 1000kms (195 laps) of the Silverstone Grand Prix track in Northamptonshire, England to decide the LMP1 and GT2 champions. Aston Martin require at least fifth place to secure the title for the #007 crew of Jan Charouz, Stefan Mücke and Tomas Enge. The cars are formed up on the grid 45 minutes before the race start, due for 11.35am. The grid girls march out to mark the grid order, different colour signs reflecting the different class cars...

It's down to the wire at the last round of the 2009 Le Mans Series. The LMP1 championship has been thrown open this year, with the diesel Peugeot 908s only competing for a part-season and the non-appearance of the factory Audi R15s. The #007 Lola-Aston Martin crew is on course to win, with a seven point advantage in the drivers' championship over the #16 Pescarolo and then the #009 sister Aston only just behind and gunning for second. LMP2 is already decided, with the on-form Olivier Pla...

Of all the pieces I've written for SpeedHunters, reporting a Time Attack event is possibly the most difficult. There is no real story or narrative, just the simple fact that someone posts the fastest time in the final session, a bit like trying to catch a jellyfish. Having said that, Olly Clark did his level best to stand out. Ed Fahey of Banzai fame and I went out to Copse during one session and witnessed some magic. You would think that the Roger Clark Motorsport Impreza was a rear wheel drive...

Drifting, yes you know it's all about the S words............skill, speed, smoke, sensation, SpeedHunters and..........errr sand? Round three of the 2009 European Drift Challenge was held yesterday at Silverstone. The high entry speed into the first corner, Brooklands, caused several to cross the fine line between drifting and beaching. Declan Hicks in his Toyota Soarer GZ20 should get some kind of prize as he carried 98 mph into the corner. He reckoned that the engine had not fired properly...

Something for the desktop of every fan of flames and Aston Martins: the overrun flame-out from the #04 Hexis Aston at the opening round of the 2009 FIA GT3 championship. Here's hoping its big brother, the Le Mans prototype, can get in amongst the diesels at this years 24 Hours. It's going to be some race this year! As usual you'll find both widescreen and standard formats in the desktops section. Jonathan Moore FIA GT Sillverstone Tourist Trophy Silverstone Coverage on Speedhunters

Stephan Ratel is the power behind the FIA GT series, having been part of its inception in the mid-90s. Over the last few years, he's been pushing for a clear ladder system for progressing through the GT racing ranks, in the same way that exists in the single-seater world. So, following the creation of GT3 (which now lap pretty much on the pace of GT2...) came GT4 in 2007. These are much more stripped-down road cars rather than all-in racing machines, and the first step on the GT racing path....

FIA GT3 is the sportscar category that seemingly laughs in the face of the global recession. Since its launch in 2006, the grids have been packed and the racing has been frantic: not surprising with almost 40 cars on track for most rounds. Whereas the grid of ground-shaking monsters in the current GT1 category has withered (and died completely in North America) due to manufacturer pull-outs and spiralling costs, and GT2 grids have yo-yoed up and down, how's this for the list of manufacturers...

Round One to Karl Wendlinger and Ryan Sharp in the K plus K Motorsport Saleen S7. Starting from pole position and clearly having the legs on the opposition it was a deserved win for the new team. It was the second time that the pair will get their name engraved on the famous RAC Tourist Trophy, having won in the Jet Alliance Aston Martin DBR9 last year. The only time that their victory looked seriously threatened was when a full course caution mid race fell the wrong way for the Saleen and this put...

The FIA GT Championship starts the season this weekend with the Tourist Trophy at Silverstone. Also on the menu is GT3 and GT4. We have the pleasure of bringing you the work of David Lister who is keeping me honest. He had a stroll round the paddock and pit lane today here is some of what he saw. This is the grid for the first FIA GT3 Championship race. More GT3 grid.......... The Alpina B6 in the pit Compulsory pit stop for the Audi R8 LMS F430............. 24hr race - easy to get excited about but the reality of the challenge soon sets when you get to the track and grasp how much preparation is required to not only get the car to do its job but for the team to go the distance non-stop. Imagine starting your car up now and pounding around a track at full-tilt until the same time tomorrow and the million things that can break, wear out and fail during such a long period of 8000rpms in every gear - for 24hrs straight. We'll, thats what happened at...

It had to happen sooner or later.............I had to go along to a drift event in person and see what Rod and Antonio were talking about.

If you haven't yet heard , last weekend's EDC round at Silverstone went down with all the excitement you would expect from a match-up featuring top drivers from both Europe and Japan battling against the backdrop of a legendary racing circuit. Nobushige Kumakubo and Kazuhiro Tanaka from Team Orange put up a strong showing in their first EDC event and Phil Morrison gave an awesome performance in his new S15, but in the end it was Brett Castle in his trusty S14 who defeated the "tsuiso...

Man, I am really starting to envy you guys in the UK! Even in Japan they don't have these awesome time attack and drifting combo events. Before the Time Attack guys were even done recovering from the Knockhill event, it was time to do it all again at Silverstone. The Silverstone round proved to full of action and by the end of the day, three new Time Attack records were set. Rod mentioned how just how big the time attack scene is getting in the UK and I have to agree with him. The level of the drivers and teams is equal to and maybe even higher than that of the United States, and possibly Japan as well....

Europe's best drifters (and a few of Japan's) have taken over the legendary Silverstone Circuit for the third round of the European Drift Championship. As we noted earlier, this event is featuring the debut of D1 stars and Team Orange members Nobushige Kumakubo and Kazuhiro Tanaka in EDC competition. In addition to the Japanese drivers, this event was also the debut of Phil Morrison's 2JZ -powered Driftworks S15. If you have seen any of the build photos from this car, you will see that...
