From rotaries we move onto some S-chassis, but since there weren't that many this year I've decided to combine Fairlady Zs to the post too, once again an all-Nissan selection! We start off with the R.Y.O. S13 "Odyvia" which I already ran a spotlight on back in October , when I first laid eyes on it at the D1 final in Fuji. It's as wild looking from every angle and proof that things down in the south of Japan are done a little differently. You can always expect to find nice rides...

Back in 2008, I made the trip across the Irish Sea to the opening round of the 2008 JDM Allstars Series. The event took place at Teesside Autodrome, just outside Middlesborough in the North East of England. Anyone who has had the privilage of witnessing what Teesside was like in its earlier drifting years, will know it's a special place. For the Saturday morning of the event, the competitors were left loose on the smaller, but equally amazing, West track. During the lunch hour, Martin Ffrench...

We had to include the Falken / Discount Tire S13 in our S-Chassis Festival. Few would disagree that this is one of the best set up drift cars in the world, with Mike Kojima and SPD honing it into the 2011 FD championship winner. - Charles Kha Photo by Larry Chen

One quick glance at this 1987 Nissan 200SX S12 Silvia, owned by Colin Masterson, and you'll think it's just another nice looking S12 with a few simple, yet tasteful modifications with very little (if any at all) engine modifications. This S12 features more than just simple engine modifications... ...as it has an RB26DETT sitting very snug in the engine bay. This RB26, built and swapped in by the guys from UpGarage, produces a very healthy 355 RWHP and 285 FT/LBs. This car ticks all the right...

It’s three o’clock in the morning. While people with normal jobs are in bed fast asleep or looking at increasingly weird sh*t on the internet and clearing their browser-history afterwards (don’t pretend like you don’t know what we’re talking about), we, however, are instead standing underneath the bright white lights of a Gull service station, cursing our earlier enthusiasm for our cover-shoot idea. “We should shoot the Silvia as a tribute to the famous Rocket...

The Nissan S-chassis is known as one of the most versatile tuning platforms in the world. Whether you are into circuit racing, drifting, drag racing, or anything else - the Silvia can be built to suit. The engine bay of the S-chassis can also accept just about any motor under the sun. We've seen countless V8's, tons of inline sixes, even the occasional rotary swap. This Australian S13 Silvia is sporting one of the most unique powerplants we've seen yet - a turbocharged Honda K20A....

Could this car be defined as a Shakotan racer? All I know is that I was amazed by seeing such a low car on Dutch roads. The car belongs to Dex, a pretty active forum member on Driftworks . I love to see unique rides like this and would have loved to see it drive on the highway. It was hard to ignore the car with its bright pink/purple paintjob. The second thing I noticed was the extreme height drop. I just had to make a spotlight to show our Dutch readers that it can be done. There is just no excuse...

The Nissan S15 is still a dream car for many including myself. So every time I see one I will check it out in great detail. Fortunately I see more and more Silvias popping up at shows. At the latest Automaxx Streetpower event, I spotted this very special version. It seemed that the car belonged to JB-Tuning, a company I did business with in the past. While I was shooting the car Ron, the owner, walked out and we started talking about Speedhunters and the car. In stock form the car already looks great...

I had just finished shooting day one of the Round 5 Rockstar D1NZ National Drifting Championship when Roo Wills, owner of the Mazda FC3S RX-7 pictured above called and reminded me that a bunch of his friends were getting together after the day's drifting for a chilled car park meet. A bunch of mates just hanging out and talking cars... how could I resist? You see, this particular meet wasn't for the purists and there definitely wasn’t a hard-core track machine in sight. This gathering...

I knew it the moment I noticed this S15 enter the show floor during the Thursday set up day that I was seeing something special. The last time I saw a car created by Super Made I had exactly the same reaction, back in 2009 at the Nagoya Exciting Car Showdown upon seeing their Y34 SR20-powered Gloria. The man behind Super Made, Yoshida-san obviously knows a thing or two about creating unique styles and doing the impossible, coming up with something new! This latest Silvia demo car joins countless...

With a relatively small S-chassis and Skylines presence at this year's Tokyo Auto Salon I've decided to address these favorites together in one post. It might be a sign that times are changing, or the fact that TAS attracts the flashier cars and tuners to attend, or even that this year's R35 GT-R special at the Option Magazine booth, a space usually reserved to help smaller shops attend, made it hard for most to enter the show without backing...but what ever it was at least there were...

This car isn't the first S14 with a 180SX front end conversion I've seen, but after drooling over these pictures for a while, I'm convinced that it's best looking one.
Built by a shop called "Accurate" in Saitama Prefecture, Japan this S14 One-Via is pure S-chassis perfection....

In many respects this is probably the most impressive car to ever be built in Japan. Forget all your high-budget, tuner-built, time attack machines that we have been seeing at events like the Lap Battle for years, as those cars don't even come close to this very special S15. Sure many might be faster, barely, but what makes this particular car different is that it isn't built to smash records in the pursuit of worldwide recognition. The only thing Suzuki-san, the owner, is after is personal...

Back in August last year, I came across this car at the penultimate round of Scandinavian Drift Series in Arhus, Denmark. When Marc from Worksmag showed me around the paddock on the night I arrived, this car instantly caught my eye. I am so used to seeing busted up driftcars that when I saw this example sporting a Kazama Promode kit, I just had to make a mental note to grab a shoot that weekend. It's driven by Jacob Hogh Hansen from Denmark for Jock's Drift Team which includes this car that...

The Fatlace S14 has seen a lot of different looks over the years. But of all the different variations, its current state is my favorite. When Mark gave me the opportunity to drive this car to learn the basics of drifting, I was expecting the car to be this untamed beast which will take hours to get used to. But oh was I wrong. The car was extremely easy to drive. There was more than enough power to have fun with and how the car was going to react was very predictable. That's all thanks to Mark's...

In fitting with our celebration of the Nissan S-Chassis, here's a repost of a story I did back in November '08.
And now for a look at the history of another one of Nissan's most famous cars, the Silvia and its sister-models. I'm sure when most of you hear "Silvia", you probably picture a tuned S13 or S15 blasting through a corner sideways, but the model actually has roots that go back 45 years. The first Nissan Silvia was the CSP311 model, shown at the 1964 Tokyo Motor Show....

There is a running joke among some tuners that the RB in the RB25 and RB26 stands for 'Running me broke'. I believe it is one of the reasons why some young speedfreaks prefer the heavier JZ motor swaps over RB. So naturally, when Chris bought this S13 about a year ago and wanted to have some fun with it, that is what we all expected him to do... or maybe even stick with the CA18DET motor that he bought with. After all, Chris does live in Switzerland and it is a country not exactly known for...

It is cool to see that the Silvia community keeps pushing the envelope. This black Silvia is a perfect example with its purple engine bay and black piping. Inside the custom wide fenders are CCW LM5 wheels in 18". -Jeroen Willemsen Spotted on Stancenation

While organizing the shots I took up at Ebisu during the WDSC event, I came across this snap of Kevin Delhaye's D1 Street Legal S15 Silvia. The French pro drifter sourced the car from Okachan at Yashio Factory and took it back to France with him giving it a full color change...but the pink mirrors remain to hint at what it once was. Hopefully we will see Kevin out in more Street Legal rounds during the 2011 season. -Dino Dalle Carbonare

Out of the 3 cars I chose to spotlight at Nikko Circuit last week, this S15 was by far my favourite. The rear has a set of pods while the front bar sports an Integra lip. The SSR Strusse are a perfect match for this slammed S-Chassis car. Up close it's a car that is certainly rough around the edges, sporting plenty of battle damage. Less is more. The interior remains largely intact, with a bucket seat, Momo steering wheel, Defi gauges and a drift button. Owner Yoshida Yuichi mentions that the...
