In the American Le Mans calendar, there are three races that outshine a good portion of the other stops. The first is the 12 Hours of Sebring, then there's the last race of the season, the Petit Le Mans (which is a 10 hour race), then there's the six hour race in the hills of Monterey, California... ...at the historic Laguna Seca racetrack. It should also be noted that the track is no longer referred as Laguna Seca, but rather Mazda Raceway. The American Le Mans race at Mazda Raceway Laguna...

Tommy Milner: Race day arrives, and I’m feeling good. The start looked like it was definitely going to be wet, and it was. Edward Sandstrom: I was relieved that the race would soon start. I felt in good shape and the experience from last year made it easier to prepare. There was a big chance it would be warmer this year, so I really tried to be prepared. But actually, you learn from this sort of race how you personally react. I think it isn’t the same for all of us. During two hours driving...

It's been an eventful couple of weeks, to say the least. In the time between my first blog and now, I've celebrated my 27th birthday, flown to Norway for the craziness of Gatebil, and made my way back home to good ole' San Francisco. Yet, no matter how much time has passed, NOTHING can dim the memories from my experience in Germany at the infamous Nürburgring. So, as promised, I'm back to share with you the 24 hours in which I was fortunate enough to witness the most intense...

“Wow.” It's a simple word but that's about all that I can think after June 16th. People continue to ask me over the last few weeks if I've come down from the high yet, and I don't think I've even peaked yet. It still hasn't fully sunk in that, with my teammates Olivier Beretta, Antonio Garcia, and the entire Corvette Racing team, we won our class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans!...

Tommy Milner: Nordschleife. There isn't another track in the world that is the training ground for just about every modern sports car today and also hosts one of the biggest endurance races in the world. The “North Loop” is one of the most demanding circuits in the world, both mentally and physically. One lap on your own is tough enough as it is; throw in 200+ others, from the most bad-ass GT machines to little Renault Clios and everything in between; and manage that for twenty four...

Hi guys. I hope you're enjoying our Nurburgring 24 Hour coverage! Tonight it's my turn to prep the Behind the Scenes coverage, as Paddy and Andy are still at the track shooting. Organizing our Speedhunting trip to the Nurburgring 24H isn't straight forward. Compared to other events, this is on a whole other level of magnitude. So I've made a point to pace myself. I haven't even ventured out to shoot the Nordschleife yet, so far it's Paddy and Andy Blackmore who've been...

To be fair, I can't say we didn't see it coming. An ever so brief spell of sunshine this morning was our only glimmer of the big yellow chicken in the sky. From pretty much the moment we set off from our hotel to the track, the skies continued to darken and darken. If you're just joining our coverage (and mostly wondering what in the name of God is he talking about), a strong contingent of Speedhunters are gathering at the mecca of all that is motorsport - the Nuburgring Nordschliefe...

Over the next few days, the Speedhunters team will be kicking off a big event production at the Nurburgring 24 hours. You'll be treated to extensive behind the scenes stories, galleries, live facebook updates, event reports and the like. I have every confidence in the world that we'll be able to take you into the heard of the Nurburgring 24Hs with some fantastic imagery and reporting. But as we get started with our coverage, I'd like to ask that you spare a thought for the drivers. After all, they're the ones who will have to survive 24 hours of racing on the world's toughest race track.

Just bear that in mind when you watch this video. There is someone at the wheel of this car, in this case Tommy Milner, who is using every ounce of his concentration to stay on the road -at maximum levels of speed and adhesion. I can barely comprehend this fact as I watch this imagery. Sure you and I know how to drive a car, but what he is doing here with the Team NFS Schubert BMW Z4, is something else all together. It's flying.

Enjoy!

To kick off the start of Team Need for Speed's FIA GT3 season, here's a look back at their 1st place run at the Dubai 24h race earlier this year. Hopefully this video sheds some light on what it's like to literally race around the clock, and is backed by an Ekstrak score. The TNFS Z4 GT3 dominated in Dubai, and I'm excited to see how the new improved Z4 does this season!

Yo - What’s up Speedhunters! Back again for some mad blogging action. Last time we “spoke,” I blogged about the 24h of Dubai win with Team Need for Speed. Since then, we had our first race, the Sebring 12 Hour, where we finished 3rd in GTE (GT last year, same class). It was a great first event for me with my new team and it was good to just get one race under my belt with the team before moving on to the rest of the season. I guess the worst part about Sebring was the fact that...

Here's one last set of desktops from the American Le Mans race in the streets of Long Beach this past weekend. Speedhunter, Larry Chen, got this great shot of the Falken Porsche during race start at turn 9, the first turn in the Formula D drift course. Here's another shot of a Porsche RSR. This time of one of the many Falken Tire on-track rivals, Flying Lizard. Tommy Milner's #3 C6.R Corvette punching past turn 1. The area around turn 8 is one one my favorites of the Long Beach street...

The second round of the 2011 American Le Mans season has come to a close with the #56 BMW, driven by Joey Hand and Dirk Muller, taking the win in the GT class. It was a typical street fight: close bumper-to-bumper racing from start to finish. The #4 Corvette Racing C6.R driven by Jan Magnussen and Oliver Gavin finished 2nd in the GT class... ...and the #62 Risi Competizione Ferrari 458GT driven by Jaime Melo and Toni Vilander took 3rd. Falken Tire Porsche finished the two hour race with their best...

You never really realize just how loud race cars are until they're bouncing off the revlimiter down a street course. The cacophonous sound of engine noises bounce and echo off the concrete walls and buildings creating an almost deafening noise. It's one of those must-do experiences for any gearhead. Today during qualifying, pole position went to the #56 Rahal Letterman Racing BMW which was driven by Joey Hand. The #53 BMW landed in P3.... P2 went to the #4 Corvette while the #3 Corvette,...

Well it's just about April and that means the new motorsport season is in full swing. This upcoming weekend will kick off the Nürburgring Nordschleife's season with the 58th ADAC Westfalenfahrt, part of the VLN Endurance Championship. Among the teams running the race will be the Need for Speed Team Schubert Racing BMW 320d, driven by Torsten Schubert and Tommy Milner, representing the good old USA. Good luck this weekend guys! -Mike Garrett

I have always been fasinated with race drivers crash helmets. The thinking behind the designs and the process of applying the design onto the helmet. I've been lucky enough to watch a few helmets marked up and painted years ago and believe me it is very time consuming and technical process. As a helmet designer, you are dealing with something very personal to the driver. Facebook followers of Speedhunters and Tommy Milner will have seen a few shots of his stunning new helmet come to life in recent...

The 59th running of the 12hours of Sebring takes place this weekend and will kick off a series of GT racing previews on Speedhunters. This year, the Sebring Endurance race plays host to the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup and the regular American Le Mans Series. It makes for a packed grid of 56 cars, with a confusing number of classes…. Most cars are entered in one or the other series. A few, such as BMW are running in both. Confusing! The Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) is a series of Endurance...

Edward : Okay let’s see what happened from early morning and the battle to the flag at 14:00 PM. I seem happy and it’s hard to not be when you’re in the lead. The true thing is that you don’t want too be too happy. So much can still happen and a small silly mistake can easy destroy everything. I was telling myself over and over again to keep concentration and don’t think about race victory yet . Tommy: 04:26 AM: Everything to this point was still going smooth. We had...

Tommy Milner: What's up SpeedHunters! Welcome to a two part blog about the Dubai 24 Hours from half of the winning driver lineup, Edward Sandstrom and myself, Tommy Milner. The Dubai 24 Hour race is, for some people, a warm up for the 2011 season and for others their biggest race of the season. I've known about The Dubai 24 Hour for a couple years. Recently, it's been getting more attention in the world motorsport press as more well known teams and drivers make the trip to the UAE. This...

The last sportscar race of the 2010 season may have just finished in Argentina, but teams, drivers and partners have been busy working on the 2011 season for some time. Team Need for Speed is no exception.
