For his first video of 2012, Mr. Brooks has put together a short video feature of Jamie McToldridge's opinion splitting 'Zero-Lip' Golf. We spotlighted the G60 powered car last year at the Players Show in Essex, UK. Afterwards, you had a lot to say about the car but have any of your opinions changed since?

Back in 2008, I made the trip across the Irish Sea to the opening round of the 2008 JDM Allstars Series. The event took place at Teesside Autodrome, just outside Middlesborough in the North East of England. Anyone who has had the privilage of witnessing what Teesside was like in its earlier drifting years, will know it's a special place. For the Saturday morning of the event, the competitors were left loose on the smaller, but equally amazing, West track. During the lunch hour, Martin Ffrench...

The entire rallycross community has been working hard recently to put itself back on the map. When I was much younger, rallycross was one of the most popular motorsports around with fantastic live coverage on BBC's Grandstand show. Names like Schanche and Hansen were synonymous with the incredibly exciting racing. In 2010, rallycross became an official part of the X-Games and one of the men flying the flag for Europe at this year's games was England's Liam Doran. Asides from his do or...

What do you do when you have a fully-built and specced engine ready to go, but the rest of the car isn’t finished? Find another rolling shell to put it into, of course! This is Mike ‘Boxxer’ Bradley’s road-legal, 1980 Ford Escort Mk2 four-door, built for drifting, track days and general messing about. It might look tatty on the outside, but inside and underneath it’s incredibly well-specced. The engine in question is a 2.1-litre Cosworth YB, converted to normally-aspirated...

One of the - many - great things about working for Speedhunters is we can justify hours and hours of random internet browsing and YouTube videos as 'research'. For a change, my 'research' actually turned something up in the shape of this Ford Escort MKI which is currently being rebuilt in the UK. Billy Sutton (user driftescort on the Driftworks forums) recently unveiled the progress being made on his dream build. Just want to say a big thanks to Billy for letting me use his photos...

... at the side of a racetrack. To get the full story about why there's a 997 Porsche brake light on my desk, I need to bring you back to August 22nd 2010. It was a Sunday but not just any Sunday. This Sunday played host to the seventh round of the 2010 British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone. The BTCC always runs with the support of other racing series' and this round was no different as the touring car grid was joined by the Porsche Carrera Cup. The second race of the Carrera Cup...

At the end of 2010, Stephen Brooks released arguably his magnum opus - The Art & Soul of BDC. It simply showed us the power, beauty and community of drifting within the BDC itself. We may not of known the faces or the cars yet we all know someone like this within our own drifting community. It was a video that transcended borders and appealed to us all. This morning, Stephen released the 2011 coequal of The Art & Soul movie entitled Six Days. The title reflects each day of the six rounds of the 2011 British Drifting Championship.

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below ...

If you've been on the site recently, you may have read our two part story on the Ford Heritage Collection, which in itself is arguably one of the greatest collections you could come across. As a life long Ford fan, it was a huge privilage for me to be allowed access to this secretive department of the Ford Motor Company. It's always an occasion for me when I get to see a super rare Ford but to be allowed unrestricted access to an entire workshop full of rare and milestone cars, I just can't...

A lot of you requested some desktops from our recent Ford Heritage Collection stories - one person even wrote that they'd never forgive me - so I thought it best to not disappoint you. I've included four of my own personal favourites including the Ford GT, Lotus Cortina, an overview of the workshop and a close up of the bonnet of Hannu Mikkola's World Cup Rally winning Escort RS1600. I know some of you complained about the images being in black and white and I admit that it was a tough...

The VADxRWB Number One has certainly been dividing opinions since we published last week's feature . One thing I think we can all agree on is nobody can deny the quality of the worksmanship that has gone into the car. It's probably the most complete car I've ever featured and it's certainly looking bright for the next VADxRWB project. Hopefully, the next time you hear or read about the VAD name it should be from their Australian division. I've uploaded four desktops from the feature...

My earliest motorsport memories all involve Fords. Sitting on top of a stranger's garden wall as a field of Escorts passed by at full tilt is something that leaves a lasting effect on you. Whether it was the MKI or MKII, the Sierra or Escort Cosworths, I always felt a strong emotional attachment to the Ford cars. It was something that came about in conversation as John gave me the grand tour of Ford's own Heritage collection. I can only speak from my own experiences, which have been biased...

Back in September, I was lurking around the north of London for a few days after the always impressive Goodwood Revival. I love travelling to the UK as I never know what stories I'll come back to Ireland with. It is a proper motorsport country which some of my UK friends seem to forget sometimes but no matter where you travel to on her majesty's island, you're never too far from something of interest. As I worked away on stories from Goodwood, Hellaflush UK and Players Show, I got one...

Twenty-eleven has been a massive year for Nakai-san and the Rauh Welt brand - the year has seen RWB expand across the world with the first RWB built cars in the USA and the UK. I'm sure most of you have been following the updates of the illest and Hoonigan Porsches online but I wonder how many of you know about Nakai's visit to the United Kingdom earlier this year. Nakai-san has personally overseen and been heavily involved in the build of each RWB car thus far. He is quite clearly very passionate...

When documenting the Driftworks / Trackculture HQ recently, I stumbled upon Phil's (Yes he has far too many cool cars for one man and yes, he should definitely give me one) other project - this simple but rather beautiful '86. The interior has been stripped with the addition of a cage, a Nardi wheel and a pair of Trackculture seats. The dash has also been flocked. The shell has been spot welded for added rigidity and is running on some HSD coilovers. The party piece is however the 20v 4A...

Building an aggressive street car nearly always involves making some sort of compromise along the way. As much as we would all like to think we could live with a stripped and caged daily driver, we all know that the reality would quickly wear thin. Especially in our modern motoring world where it would seem that every government is doing their utmost to remove the joy of driving from us. When Phil Morrison bought this E46 M3 as a daily driver he wanted to keep things simple and civilized. But when...

The VW scene is known for its style and exuberant culture which surrounds it. We all know of the odd sleeper which lurks amongst them but up until this year's Edition38, I'd never really seen a heavily performance orientated example. Thanks to J-Tech Automotive, I need to search no more as their rather impeccable MKII Golf was more than I could have ever asked for. I still love the style aspect of the VW scene but it is refreshing to see a really well built and dedicated track car based on...

When we first showed pictures of this 964, there were quite a few negative responses, most of which were appalled at the idea of a stanced 964. However, when you look at this car up close, you quickly realise that this is all pure and unadulterated function. Flocked dash, a dished Momo wheel and a full roll cage alongside a complete interior offer the best of both worlds. The black and orange colour scheme runs subtly throughout the build of the car. Even sneaking a peak into the engine bay, you...

At this stage, anyone with an even passing interest in drifting will know the name Driftworks. Their 700+BHP 2JZ powered S15 is recognised around the world, their website is one of the most active drifting website's on earth but none of this was achieved overnight. I remember first joining the Driftworks forum back in 2004 when it was still in its relative infancy. I don't think anyone at the time could have ever guessed just how big they would become. What started as a backroom operation...

An important aspect of any self respecting motoring enthusiast's life should involve having your views challenged on a regular basis. After all it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing right? But it's only by having our opinions challenged that we can grow as connoisseurs of automotive culture and further expand our knowledge and taste. This is the second time I've been in the presence of this MKII Golf and truth be told, I'm still not sure of what to make of it....

Inspiration is something that affects us on a daily basis, whether you know it or not, from perusing the posts of Speedhunters to popping down the local shop for some milk and seeing an exciting silhouette over the fence, it’s never far away. For many of us our patterns are laid out in younger years, maybe a parent tooled away in the garage, or religiously watched a certain brand of racing, the posters on your bedroom wall and toys in the cupboard will have often have blueprinted a future path...
