Here's a SEMA find that's is sure to generate some heat in the comments section. As I worked my way through the Central Hall last week, I came across Kevin Byrd's 1990 E30 M3 sitting in the Heatshield Products booth....

Some of you may recall, the recent Art of the Badge articles, fellow Speedhunter Jonathan Moore wrote on the subject of classic automotive emblems at recent Goodwood Revival. These articles had a bit of a shockwave effect on the rest of the Speedhunters team, as it made us rethink a little bit about how we approach event coverage. While we'll always give you a high level overview of an event, Jonathan reminded us that it's also refreshing to showcase specific details across a wide variety...

While walking through the pitlane at Jamboree, I spotted a couple of cars that fitted our Street Cars & Sleepers theme to a tee. One of them was this Chevrolet Camaro SS: a perfect blend of street and drag car. The first thing that caught my eye was the pristine condition of this 50+ year old car. The whole car from tip to toe was in perfect condition, the interior especially. The ECU is tucked away in the glove compartment, and with the lid closed, the only tell tale signs of this Camaro's...

When it comes to Ford tuning, most of us would be familiar with names like Cosworth, Mountune etc. It's only since Ford Fair that I've got a bit of a history lesson in another tuner that has eluded me over the years. Basil Green Motors in Johannesberg, South Africa were responsible for a number of hot Fords during the late 1960s and '70s. The cars were named 'Perana' and offered incredible performance for the era without sacrificing build quality or reliability. In the Capri Perana's...

When walking through the extreme paddock at Gatebil on the first night of our visit, I walked straight past this R34 Skyline (not before grabbing a quick wide shot) thinking that it was maybe just another R34 track car. I mean we've all seen them before right ? Thanks to one of our readers who insisted I take a closer look in the comments from one of the first posts from our Gatebil adventure, I think this probably the greatest R34 Skyline I've ever had the honour of witnessing in action...

The boys at motorFIX have recently hit up YZ Circuit where their awesome 1UZ-powered Corolla headed out for a little test session.
There's nothing like the sound of a quad cam V8 with eight throttles to get you going on a Tuesday.

As I mentioned during my Toyotafest event coverage last week, there was a huge Cressida turnout at the show. The popularity of this rear-drive sedan has skyrocketed in the last few years and there are some very serious Cressida builds in the United States these days.
At Toyotafest I came across a pair of MX83 Cressidas that both had LSX swaps, but otherwise couldn't be more different from each other....

Team Need for Speed driver, Matt Powers, finished up the install on his newly acquired LS7 V8, running on a
Holley Performance EFI, and went straight to the dyno. The result? 563whp / 562wtq! Despite what your opinion may be on the whole V8/non-V8 debate, you let your inner gearhead loose and admit that the motor sounds absolutely beastily, especially at 7100 RPM. We can't wait the Matt and the car tear it up on the track.
Long Beach really just can't come quick enough.

P.S. A special thanks to our good friends from MotoIQ.com for the video

This year's Hillclimb events just got a whole lot more interesting. This BMW E82 has just had its first shakedown. Despite some small electrical problems the car looks like ready to attack the mountains. The car is powered by a JUDD 3.4 litre V8 and pushes 550ps. You can hear the car being fired up in this video made the by the Hillclimbfans website . -Jeroen Willemsen Georg Plasa Motorsport Gotta thank Fabian Linder for the tip on Facebook

Upon arriving to Irwindale Speedway, for the Mooneyes Xmas Party, and being greeted with summer-like sunlight and summer-like temperatures was a bit strange. The eastern part of the United States was getting piled in with snow while Mike Garrett and I were walking around the show with more than moist under arms. Seeing how Mike has already given us a detailed look at the going-ons of the show in part 1 and part 2 of his coverage, I thought I'd look at a few cars that stood out for me. This '51...

I've been noticing a growing trend in the States which involves car enthusiasts moving away from the aesthetically pleasing but not-so-much-drivable scene that has dominated the past few years. Those people are now taking their cars they've spent so much money in making look cool to actually drive them at their local race tracks. The Stateside drift missile movement is one of the extremes of this growing performance-centric trend. Cars that are all function and zero form. Drifters, who have...

In part one of our Edition38 X coverage, I asked you guys and gals to identify what car a certain V8 was sitting in. some of you guessed wrong but most guessed correctly that it was living life under the hood of a MKI Golf. The car was literally swamped with admirers all day so I was limited in the shots I could get but I think I've got the most important ones. Check out the side exit exhaust just in front of the rear wheels. This car was LOUD. Despite the Volkswagen engraved rocker covers, the...

Meet the Eaton M112 supercharger usually seen on a Shelby Cobra. If I asked you to go for a wild guess on what car this supercharger is bolted on to, I bet you my left leg that an Audi is the last thing that'll come to your mind. And you'd be forgiven too... but then again, Florian works for that famed Audi tuner ABT, so he is bound to be biased... I saw Florian's car early 2009, and back then the car was welcomed with suppressed giggles. No one really thought this would work, a car of...

GM LSx engines have been swapped into just about every car under the sun, but this is the first time I've seen this.
It's an LS6-powered Toyota MR-S/MR2 Spyder that's being built by Speedhunters reader Erven as a track toy for a customer. A couple more photos can of the build can be found here.
Please keep us updated Erven, can't wait to see this thing when it's done!

After seeing a teaser video posted by Linhberg it is time to see what the end product will look like. This will be the car that Rhys Millen is going to use to beat the record on the Pikes Peak Hillclimb. It is a complete tube framed car with lots of carbon fiber and it will be powered by a 4.1 liter V8 capable of producing 750bhp. Will it be enough to break the 10 minute barrier? -Jeroen Willemsen spotted on Jalopnik

I might be just a little biased in favor of the new Chevrolet Camaro. After all, it's the car that won me a hundred bucks.
No, I didn't win an outlaw street race. In fact I won the money long before my week-long test drive of the 2010 Camaro SS. ...

While at Cars and Coffee the other day I was walking around enjoying the machinery when I heard the distinctive rumble of a V8 from the corner of my ear. Glancing over, I expected to see a fixed up Camaro or Mustang roll by, but to my surprise the sound was coming from an S13 240SX. Now a V8 S-chassis is nothing new, but I figured this car was certainly unique enough to warrant a quick spotlight....

I was browsing one of my favorite forums, ClubRoadster.net the other day when I found a thread about an LS1-powered Mazda Miata drag car out of Mississippi. Now any time you combine a light weight rear-drive car with a powerful V8 the potential for awesomeness arises, but I noticed something about this car that I don't think the builder intended - it's likeliness to sports car-based drag cars of the '60s....

I have posted pictures of this car before on my own blog . But I haven't seen any progress since, so I was hoping that the Speedhunters audience could shed some light what happened with this E30 twin turbo V8. So does anybody have any info on this car? Please let me know in the comments. -Jeroen Willemsen
